And 4 of the 7 hits came in the 5th, but thanks to a great throw by Reddick, only run scored was the solo HR.

I think about 5 of the 7 hits were either shift hits or bloopers that fell in. He was on point tonight

The Angels entered tonight with a 20.0% whiff rate at the plate, lowest in MLB
Gerrit Cole induced 24 swings & misses, the most by any pitcher vs LAA in a game this season.
It's his 2nd outing w/more than 15 whiffs vs the Angels this year. No other pitcher has done it even once

No Yordan. He fouls off so many hittable pitches. Part of his adjustment, I guess.
Hinch mentioned on the radio yesterday morning that Alvarez would sit last night. Said all of the sudden he’s started chasing pitches out of the zone and just didn’t look right in the box. He sort of alluded to the knee issue again and while he is ok AJ wanted to give him a break last night. Said they need to work with him on things like sliding. He was going to take BP in cage yesterday and rest.

Chasing and fouling off pitches he should drive. I doubt the knee story, but that is easy to use to avoid criticism. Yordan will adjust to the way he is being pitched.

According to the HC, there was a Tues night team meeting (https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Houston-Astros-Los-Angeles-Angels-game-recap-14104218.php) after the loss (and Marisnik HBP).
Retaliation for a nine-day-old collision with catcher Jonathan Lucroy left so many mentioning Marisnick and ignoring what he felt was the bigger picture. The team itself was teetering. Oakland crept to within four games in the American League West after Tuesday's loss.
His team did so little during this road trip that could count as customary — whether on the field or off. A closed-door team meeting on Tuesday night capped the terrible stretch.
"Put this stuff behind us and get out and get some wins," Marisnick pleaded before Wednesday's game.
Apparently it helped!
