On the broadcast they just showed a bowl of Skyline Chili being served up and it looked like diarrhea poured on top of spaghetti with cheddar cheese on top.
Go Astros!!

As Craig the Bastard once opined, "you'd think it'd be impossible to completely fuck up a bowl of chili, but in Cincinnati, they've raised it to an art form."

T1:
Bregman grounds out 5-3
Brantley singles to RCF
Alvarez flies out F7
Gurriel lines one to RCF, Puig trots after it like he has a bead on it, but OH SHIT, it's over his head...score it a double, Brantley to 3B
Chirinos strikes out swinging
Astros get a single and a double, but leave 'em stranded. No score.
-
i like Brantley in the 2-hole. Has he been there recently with the line-up decimation?

Last few games everyone's moved up a notch.
-
Quickly 1-0 Reds on a leadoff homer.
-
Obligatory JV solo shot. Grrr. What a shithole.
-
And the obligatory 2-run shot...3-0 Reds
-
Good grief. 3-0 Reds on their 2nd HR in the 1st.
-
B1:
Winker homers to LF
Votto...0-2...bitching about strike two call...it worked because he takes strike three for a ball...2-2...hits a high popup for a rule-book double down the LF line...maybe Astros have a play on it without the shift
Suarez strikes out swinging
Dietrich homers to RF, Votto scores
Senzel strikes out swinging
Puig pops out F2 behind the plate
3-0 Reds
-
Julia looked like she was about to vomit.
-
OMG JULIA DON'T EAT IT
-
oh god she ate it
-
T2:
White grounds out 4-3 into the shift...lined it right back up the middle, but can't reach
Kemp flies out F9
Marisnick flies out F8
3-0 Reds
-
oh god she ate it
She could've refused the assignment based on prejudicial consequences but she's a consummate pro.
-
She's discussing what it tasted like when it came back up.
-
I have it in my mind that Dietrich was one of the guys Purpura drafted that Drayton didn't bother signing.
-
Another Verlander effort without run support
-
I feel sorrier for him when he gives up, say, one run.
-
I’m not sure if it was worse watching JV swing away there or subsequently book it down the line trying to avoid the DP.

I was thinking Marisnick should have bunted them over to avoid the dp, even if JV K’s, Bergman has a shot to drive in the runners w 2 out.
-
Why are other teams allowed to get two outs on one pitch? That doesn't seem fair.

Tough to give up effectively 2 outs in a row. Letting Jake swing away was fine, but I would have asked JV to lay one down.

Yordan flashed the quick hands on an inside fastball.

That use of replay drives me crazy. NOT why we have replay.
Learning moment for Alvarez.

GIDPs are so pedestrian. Let's figure out some new ways to get some double-plays.
-
3 First pitch swings in less than 24 hours
- Bregman (Straw on 1st) 9th inning no outs
- Brantley (Straw on 1st) 9th inning 1 out (just watched Bregman)
- Gurriel (Alvarez on 2nd) - 6th inning 1 out
*** Maybe be more selective? Jeez
-
I don't think Yasiel likes those curve balls.
-
On Sensel's PO behind 1st, Kemp makes a very nice catch while avoiding White and the tarp, one of the Red's announcers admires Kemp avoiding both.
The other says "Hitting White would be like hitting a tarp". But adds, "he moves well for a big man."
-
Chirinos sure got screwed on that AB: would-be HR goes foul by a fit, and then hard-hit line drive gets snagged by a leaping 3B.

Feesl like a microcosm of this series.... would shoulda coulda

Reds haven’t had any problem reaching the seats. We need one.
-
I'm starting to get tired of the home runs.
-
That little kid's reaction was fantastic.

Specially likes the Astros jersey!!!

Yuli swings through three fastballs. That's discouraging.

Part of the reason for White’s continued PT has been that Yuli’s struggled almost as much.

It looks like I might have been too pessimistic (I know, hard to believe) about Alvarez's ability to handle left field. He looks reasonably comfortable out there, especially considering he's seeing these parks for the first time.
-
Bad enough to lose, but Reds batters are doing interpretive dance this inning.

Votto was doing some Maori war dance or something.
-
Sweet throw by Chirinos and tag by Kemp.
-
Pretty lifeless stretch by the good guys. Maybe Altuve will provide the spark they need.

As you said, the guys who should be carrying the team, are not. That and some bad luck thrown in.

....they were facing some pretty good pitching also. Who knows what Altuve, Correa, and Springer would have done against him.
We have been so spoiled, having lost only one one series since the 1st of them went down. Some of these games w/o the stars have felt more like playoff games....and the Astros have been building their lead w/o their wounded stars!!!!
Gives hope for the production when they return. Much to be grateful for.
PS: It has been unbelievable to see so many rookies on the bench, on the mound, in the field, on the bases, and batting. Some are going to stay. Some we will see for a long time later. As they have been breaking in, the team has been winning. Not many rookie mistakes, like Alvarez's bounce on his slide to 3rd. He nailed the ball four times last night and only got one hit. Good things to come.
