Miley looks sharp so far.
No hits, no runs for the Astros at the top of the inning.
-
Interesting route by Jake.
Good job keeping it in front of him, though.

Got fooled a little on that. Big swing, and the ball right at him.
-
BIIIG strike zone by blue tonight. Inside, outside and low. No idea about up top yet.
-
Generous strike zone tonight.
-
M’s with a walk and hit but no runs scored B1.
-
Well, top of the zone looks massive too.
Moore works almost as fast as Miley.
-
I don't like that chest protector.
Looks like a blue tortoise shell.

Moore throws some fluttering upper 70’s thing. Looks like a knuckleball on the way to the plate. Curve is the same speed.

The light grey mask Chirinos is wearing is ugly as well.

I don’t care for any grey catchers gear. Just looks wrong.
-
Miley with 4 k’s thru 2. Big zone is helping a bit. He’s taking what’s being given to him. Blue is consistent with both teams so that’s good.
-
Stat cast zone heat maps for this game will be interesting. Stuff is being called 3-4” off the plate c
-
Kemp life!
-
Kemp with the line drive bomb!
And Reddick gives him the awkward humpy hug.
-
Wheels Fisher gets the BB.
-
Wheels Fisher gets the BB.
And almost gets picked. Moore has a sweet move to 1st.
-
Did not know the Astros have three of the 10 toughest to K in lineup tonight (Brantley, Reddick, & Gurriel)...
...in the AL.
-
Grooving one to Haniger...always a great idea.
-
Top 4 Reddick singles. Caught stealing just before Chirinos’ HR. But Astros take the lead 2-1.
-
Top 5 Fisher 2 out double, Bregman double. 3-1 Astros. Chases Moore.
-
Still top 5 Brantley doubles, Bregman scores. 4-1 Astros.
-
I like doubles.
-
Jerry Dipoto just needs to make a few more trades and the Mariners will have a baseball team..
-
Seattle is a good town to catch an Astros game. I'm gonna take a Northern trip late this summer. Might go to Seattle or more likely, Toronto. Any hotel recs?
-
Not a fan of the gray catcher's gear either.

Is that what you were wearing when you got dumped in the river? (That was you, right?)
-
Hilarious moment on the TV broadcast:
Blum and Kalas are talking about Orbit's birthday coming up, and then Kalas mentioned that Julia had been given a birthday gift in Seattle in one of the last seasons on her birthday.
Julia is trying to figure out what to call him, and just calls him Mariner (as in Mariner Moose), and Kalas and Blum immediately accuse her of being on a first name basis with the Mariner's mascot.

Airbnb. I was in Toronto last September coincidentally when the Astros were there. My trip was an unqualified success, but not really baseball oriented although I did see a game.
The Blue Jays would be a far more interesting team to see, obviously.

??? Not sure. I did slip on the bank and fall in the river yesterday. The dam broke upstream a week or so back and the flow has been much greater and the river deeper and wider. It really messed up a lot of Lake Dunlap riverfront property, since there isn't much lake there anymore.

-
Well, shit. Jake couldn't chase down that laser.
-
Miley, James, Guduan shat the bed in the 6th. Seattle scores 4, Astros losing 5-4 now.

Prophetic!
Bases loaded double puts Mariners ahead 5-4.
Only one player is left on the Seattle bench - Murphy, three for Astros - Straw, Stubbs, & White.
-
White pinch hits for Mayfield, walks. Straw pinch run. Marisnick fights off a pitch for single. Runners on 1st and 2nd for Fisher.
-
Fisher singles! Straw scores, Marisnick to 3rd. Tied 5-5. Still no out for Bregman.
-
Bregman at bat, Fisher takes off, pitch out. Called out. Astros challenging.
-
Very close play, not sure there’s enough to overturn. He’s safe!

Is that a great video for teaching how to slide, at least tonight?
-
Bregman 2-2 count, runners 2nd/3rd, no out. Full count. He taps to left of the mound, Jake comes home, Bregman out at 1st but gets the rbi. 6-5 Astros.
-
Brantley IBB, Runners 1st/3rd. Yuli 3-0 count, 3-1, sac fly to center. Astros 7-5. Reddick flies out to end top of the 7th.
-
Straw at short for the 7th.
-
Brantley IBB, Runners 1st/3rd. Yuli 3-0 count, 3-1, sac fly to center. Astros 7-5. Reddick flies out to end top of the 7th.
Could we say Fisher's slide was might be pivotal?

Honestly, I’d have to see it again. But my guess would be yes since he was safe. And he maintained contact once on the bag.
-
I wonder why more players don't do like Encarnacion and wear a batting helmet with a built-in chinstrap.
-
Tony Kemp - HR and bunt hit!!!
-
Straw with a rib single up the middle.
-
Top 8:
Chirinos 4 pitch walk.
Kemp bunts for single.
Straw 0-2 single up the middle, Chirinos scores.
Astros 8-5 no out
Jake w runners 1st/2nd ripped down the left field line! 2rbi double! Astros 10-5 still no out.
-
He sure looks handsome in those khakis.
-
He sure looks handsome in those khakis.
She sounds hideous.
-
Fisher almost got his 3rd hit - nailed it!
-
Fisher drives one to right, Haniger makes the awkward jumping grab as it nearly got over his head. 113.8mph off the bat. Jake to 3rd.
Bregman sac fly makes it 11-5
Brantley singles up the middle for 28th multi hit game.
Yuli batting, Biddle wild pitch sends Brantley to 2nd. Grounds to short.
Devo coming in for bot8
-
Roundrock representin'!
-
Easy to overlook White started the 6th w/ a BB, giving Straw an opportunity....

Much easier to overlook that a walk was about the best you could hope for with White up.
-
Bot8 Devo in:
Santana K looking
Narvaez walk
Seager drives one to right, Reddick at the wall, robs the HR!
Voglebach flies out to center.
-
Devo has looked better but he got the job done thanks to good outfield play.

Still hanging too many pitches.
But his change up is sharp again.

The strike out was nice. Froze Santana.
-
Blummer - With speed like that, you stop going station to station. You start going planet to planet.
-

True! But it started a rally, was as good as a hit in that situation.

Dam video (of dam breaking). (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekxgoBU41U0)
Opps! I thot it pointed to the 6th, not the "floods" in the 7th & 8th.
-
Top9:
Festa pitching
Reddick K swinging
Chirinos grounds to 3rd
Kemp 4 pitch walk
Straw 3-2 fouls a couple, flies out to center field
-
Bot9:
Brady Rodgers pitching for first time in 13 days
Long Lines out to shortstop on first pitch
Moore full count, lines out to Yuli at 1st. Nice snag.
Smith another full count, Ks on a foul tip.
Astros win 11-5

Imagine that you're an AL West rival and the Astros have more or less half their starting 8 on the IL and you see the Astros lead increasing.
-
Miley in his post game interview. Looks like a toddler cut and styled his hair.

I'm happy that the call-ups are doing well, and I'm grateful for the wins, but let's not forget that a lot of other teams have been making Seattle look silly for several weeks now.

Imagine you are Altuve, Springer, or Correa and you see your team doing so well without you....

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Saw the story on the SA station to learn more. I didn't realize that there were so many dams downstream of Canyon Lake, or that GBRA was so bad at maintaining them.

I did Airbnb in Toronto also. Highly recommend that. You can probably find a place on the Lake and walk to the game. I wasn't overly impressed with their ballpark, but it was a fun game because of who I went with. The Blue Jays were playing the Rangers and they also booed Odor. It was great.

Mr. Dump Cold Water On Everything strikes again.

Wins are wins. You play who is on the schedule. Kick 'em when they're down, and never give away an at bat.
Words to live by.

What about the A's or the Red Sox or the White Sox?

Cubs.

I was wondering if Hinch thought that a six run lead in the ninth against Seattle was Rogers proof. He did and it was.
