Hadn't seen this yet. Only 69 years old.
Very sad.

Sad.
Condolences to his family. Dementia at advanced age is heartbreaking. Dementia at earlier ages all the more so.

So true. My mother at 91, ok, but it sucks. In his 60s? No way.

Yes, sad. I didn't realize he was afflicted. Tough SOB. Played in a lot of pain with BoSox.

A friend of a friend's husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in his mid 30s. Was devastating for his wife and small kids.

Never struck out 3 times in a game.

It's always bothered me that so many people think the Red Sox win the Series if Buckner makes that play. In fact, the Mets had already tied the game on a wild pitch earlier in Mookie's at bat.

They were sitting ducks. Game tied, extra innings, on the road, best bullpen arms already used.

The effectively wild podcast guys were discussing bucknerās career on a recent episode. One of the fun facts they mentioned is that Correa already has more strikeouts than Buckner had by the age of 31. He debuted in the bigs at the age of 19.

I wasn't aware of his incredible lack of strikeouts.
