Astros lead 2-0 after 3.5 innings.
-
Guess I finish off this bottle of gin. Not enough to get drunk on.
Chrinos leads off the bottom of the 4th with a walk off of Sale.
-
Maybe it’s been addressed elsewhere. But if Dallas K signs after the draft, do the Astros lose compensation or do they get a draft pick for next year?
-
Reddick singles to CF, Chrinos to third.
-
Runners on the corners, no outs. T white vs Sale..... chances he gets an rbi? 1 in 25?
-
SMH, Tyler.

Numerator is zero.

I wondered the same.
-
Boston's defense is putrid tonight.
-
That was all undeservedly beneficial to the Astros

Sale fucked that rundown up. He should have been at first.
-
After White Ks, Marisnick grounds to short, Bogearts threw home but Leon couldn't handle it. Chirinos scores, Reddick to third.

Even so, what the fuck was Pearce doing?

Springer sac fly makes it 4 to 0

No what?
-
Steve Pierce had to settle for a single. I guess that deal he made with the devil last fall has ended. I hope anyway.
-
No what?
I was wondering about that too.
-
Jake is so good on defense.
-
Jake is ridiculous.
-
Jake looked pretty handsome on that play.
-
I feel bad for catchers.
Except for the ones that do it voluntarily. They're just nuts.
-
I was wondering about that too.
If he signs after the draft the Astros get no compensation pick.
Jake having himself a ballgame tonight. The catch he didn't make up against the fence was sweet.
-
Well that sucks shit
-

Sorry for the confusion - do you mean to ask if the Astros would lose the competitive balance round B pick they were to receive after Dallas turned down the QO?

Would have liked to see some insurance runs. Instead we got an error and three fielder's choice outs.
-
I would be cool with JBJR hitting the road and not coming back.

Well, that sucks. Why the fuck does he like MMPUS so much?
-
Pressly scoreless appearance streak is over. God damn you JBJr! God damn you.
-
Fuck!
-
Springer needs to go on the IL and get COMPLETELY well. Call up Alvarez and see what he can do.
This really sucks for George. He took himself out too so it must really not feel good.

Or... we could wait and find out exactly what happened.
-
Looked like he was grabbing at his left hamstring
-
He pulled his hammy; you could see him grab it as he was sliding. Say goodbye to him for 2-3 weeks.
-
Or... we could wait and find out exactly what happened.
Well obviously you do nothing if he is fine, but he doesn’t look fine. Hopefully he is ok, but I don’t want him playing thru stuff like Correa did last year. It usually doesn’t turn out well.

Bear down Pressly.
-
Fuck, I'm worried about George Springer. Fuck!
-
Whew. That's enough stress for tonight, guys.
-

God Damn Bradley Jr HR to CF

More excitement than usual with Pressly.

Yep, especially when he's having his career year.

Man, that was a depressing "Name that Astro".

Different injury.
-
Different injury.
Agreed, but he didn't look real comfortable with his back earlier tonight, either. He spent a fair amount of time in the outfield bending over and trying to stretch it out.
-
Different injury.
Correct but sometimes one has a tendency to overcompensate or change their approach coming off of an injury which can sometimes lead to a different injury.
-
Pretty cool, little Cavan Biggio in the bigs with the Jays... hitless in three at bats.
-

I thought he looked good at the plate.

So if George needs to go to the IL, things are going to get interesting. They need a spot for Altuve, and they'll need another outfielder. I guess, maybe they could send Rodgers back down to make room for, say, Tucker. But I wonder if White is reaching the end of the road.

Jake does it again. The man simply doesn't quit.
-
JAKE!!
-
On his motherfucking horse.
-
Jake proves his worth time and time again with great catches. That was one of his greatest!
-
With his HR and those catches, I imagine that Jake gets the belt or the robe or whatever tonight.
-
That catch was ridiculous. 5% probability.

Altuve's going on a rehab assignment of undetermined length, but it shouldn't be too long. Tucker/Straw/Fisher are all on the 40, Yordan is not.

Boy, that ball got out quickly.

Yikes. That got out in a hurry.

Benintendi just can’t get a hit w Jake patrolling center. That one was 5% catch probability.

God dammit! Cocksucker!
-
whew, only one streak ended tonight.
-
Bradley K to end it. 4-3 Astros.
-
Osuna’s mix of pitches is so fun to watch. I can’t recall any reliever of note who pitches like him.
-

Osuna had 18 straight scoreless outings prior to that.

Good to get both out of the way in a win.

If I counted correctly on astros.com, it looks like 39. Also, McCullers in on the 10-day IL, which surprised me. I imagine they could move him to the 60-day to make room if they had to.
-
Isn’t there space on the 40 man?
There is. Also, from what I understand, Tucker’s service time last year means that keeping him down through next week would delay his FA by a year.

Alvarez is in a mini-slump, 1 for his last 17 after tonight's game.
-
You know, for your 8th and 9th inning guy to give up HRs and still win I think it's great. Unfortunately they were going to give up a run sooner or later. They gave it up and still won. I'm ready for a new streak to start tomorrow.

They've been pretty clear it's a 13 man pitching staff they want.

I’d like to know how hard he is hitting his outs. He had a line out to LF last night.

White needs to go.

Hamstring or knee? This is such a shame. He was having an MVP season.

Tonight. Grounded to third on by throwing error. GIDP to third. GIDP to short. And K swinging.

I’ve held out bitching about T White as long as I can. He needs a change in scenery.

If they're sticking with 13 pitchers, and everything they've said indicates that, either he or Kemp has to go when Altuve comes back (was told the radio said they're thinking during the Cub series). I see no reason they would keep White over Kemp.
And regarding Springer's replacement, MM is correct: keeping Tucker down until June 1 gives the Astros this year and then 6 full years before he's a FA.

6 years? May not matter with a new cba.. I think if they want/need him up tell be here.

Diaz' scoring slide at home was phenomenally athletic.
-
I don't know how WAR is calculated, but if Marisnick isn't near the top, they are doing it wrong.
