Springer with a leadoff triple, Bregman walks, Brantleywith an RBI double. 1-0, Astros at 2B and 3B, nobody out...
-
Springer is in such a groove. So is Bregman, and Brantley.
-
Full count on Correa...walks to load the bases... Still nobody out
-
Seems like Joe West might want to look at that Betts play the next time he assumes a player will make a leaping grab.
Or the Springer triple for that matter.
-
Need to break it open right here

Why on earth would hpu widen the strike zone for that first pitch to Josh?
Pity?
-
Power out here in Freestone County. Having to listen to Ford and Sparkie.
-
Bloop by Yuli gets Uncle Mike home.
And brings out the boo birds.
-
Velasquez out after 0.3. 3-0 Astros, still two on.
-
That catcher seemed to be in a weird spot for that throw.

Very nice.

Umpires hate Josh.
He has the widest strike zone I've ever seen.

Nelson missed a couple there. Got Corbin shaking his head on that last one

That was strike 3 to Moreland.
All year, every game, that's been a strike.
-
The 3-2 pitch to Moreland should have been enticing enough to elicit a swing or a strike three call.

-
Jesus, Martin has thrown four pitches down the middle for balls.
-
Both Ball 4 calls to Martinez and Moreland were strikes fully in the box.
-
Strommie, do your thing.
-
Come on kid, get this last out.
-
Is he nibbling or has he lost command?

He's throwing pitches down the middle and they're called balls. He's had to get six outs already this innkng

Had to throw so many damn extra pitches after he struck out Moreland.

A foul tip is caught by the catcher. The ball didn't hit the bat.

After he got the fuck squeezed out of him on Martinez
-
Looked like it.
Sounded like it.
-
Is he nibbling or has he lost command?
He had some pitches that weren't close.
But it's tough to ask a young pitcher to get 5 outs in an inning without giving something up.
Completely unrelated: Robot umps to be trialed in the Atlantic league.

Yes, thank you for your precision. My comment was meant to indicate I thought that the ball barely hit the bat which caused it to change planes and for stassi to miss it. The video seemed inconclusive.

Screw Nelson. Let’s get more runs.

We need a CSI-style slo mo with sound wave overlay.

That is some shitty baserunning, trumped by shittier fielding.
-
Correa up, plate is back to 24 inches wide.
-
How was that not an error?
-
And brewer getting outside calls now
-
Nice 0-2 sac, Carlos.
-
Isn't Nelson usually pretty good? His strike zone is a wandering mystery tonight.
-
How was that not an error?
It is confusing. Seems like a no-brainer error to me.
-

Bregman advanced one base on a single. Technically that's not an error because that's the reasonable expectation. But it should have been an out.

Carlos Correa is good at baseball.
-
How's your hand, Tyler?

Corbin needed that tidy inning.

Yes it was. He was discombobulated.

Definitely can't stand interviews with live action going on.

6-2

Stop the presses.
Replay favors the Astros (correctly).

Hate seems a bit strong. Why? Did you pay top dollar and end up behind a pole with a guy named Sully slamming Sammys in between hitting on you and talking about how Papi was a pure great unlike that cheater A-roid?

There'll be older pitchers in the LLWS this year.
-
I went to Fenway before 2004 and it was still possible to get good seats as a walk-in and thought it was very cool place.
-
I liked Fenway. People there were great.
I first visited in the 90s and then went again in 2012 or so, although I spent a lot of time in Boston in between. The vibe was different the first time because the area hadn’t developed into wrigleyville light yet, but I love an old stadium situated right in the middle of town and the history. I’ve spent a lot of time in New England, and agree the fans were great.

New Yankee or old Yankee? Seats are so expensive at New Yankee that it has priced out many of the characters, but the bleachers in the old days were a little edgy, and I liked it.

If Cora had challenged, this game would be 6-4. Agree that was a bad tag but a great throw by Brantley.

Another close play. Very close. And very similar to the overturned call.
-
Joe Buck is mildly retarded.
-
Even with the strike zone box, Buck cant tell when a pitch is out of the zone. He also had some thought orca was going first to third.
-

The image that looked definitive was from the 1B dugout side. White of ball in the webbing, runners foot a few inches above the bag.

Jake can't afford to take meatballs down the middle of the plate.
-
Barrel something up, George.

If Springer hits a slam, you get a couple of bucks off the worst fucking pizza in history. Awesome.

He tried not to catch that.

It's a good play. Joe buck is making smoltz stupid.

He also quipped? complained? About being "parachuted" in to the series so he hasn't seen the teams much.
It's really too bad that one of the "premier" announcers in the game hates baseball.

James? I was thinking it would be McHugh.

Is Betts the only player for Boston? My mom is asking because they talk about him constantly.

He basically deep sighed on a pick off throw over to first earlier in the game.
I would loathe him if not for a comment I heard him make in an interview when he admitted he only has his job because of his dad, so at least he doesn’t totally lack self awareness.

So, on Correa’s dribbler up the line his bat flew out there just as far as the ball and came to rest near the foul line. What is the rule if the ball had started to roll foul but hit the bat and stayed fair??

If the umpire judges it unintentional, it's a live ball. If he intentionally throws the bat and it hits a fair ball, batter is out, ball is dead and no runner advance.

No idea, but that reminds me of this goofy article (http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19522870/major-league-litter-strategic-bat-toss-turn-trash-treasure) investigating whether hitters strategically drop their bats to get in the way of throws to the plate.
