Liverpool. Oh man.

Liverpool. Oh man.
A friend at work is a die-hard Liverpool fan. He was about to have a heart attack waiting for the Barcelona away goal that we knew was sure to come.
-
As irresistible as Liverpool were, Barca's players all need to hand back their pay for that game. The sleepwalking around Liverpool's 4th goal would be subject to a massive bollocking in little league, let alone the semi-final of the Champions' League. This doesn't happen if Puyol was still around.

That play was the least give-a-fuck I’ve ever seen on a big stage.

...in an incredibly important tied game. Gobsmacking!

Spurs concede early but, due to the away goals rule, the math hasn't changed as two goals will still win it for them (without shipping another one). It also means it will be decided in the regulation 90 minutes as there's no scenario that can produce extra time or penalties.
Reportedly (not watching) they're up for it. With a top 4 finish in the league sewn up, this is what they have left to pay for.
I'm sure UEFA would love an all-English final!

Spurs had plenty of chances in the first half but couldn't finish. Ajax had fewer chances but impeccable finishes.

After tomorrow, we may have both the Champions League and Europa League finals being English matchups

Yep. It’s the year of Brexit, so both showcase European finals are all English affairs.

It's like every game of Football Manager I've ever played. I wonder if one country has ever had all 4 slots before?

Nope. There’s been an all Spanish CL final before, but never all 4.

Same-country match-ups in the European Cup (pre-1992) / Champions League (since 1992)
Real vs. Valencia in 2000
Man U vs. Chelsea in 2008*
Munich vs. Dortmund in 2013
* How could I forget! We took over the main part of the restaurant at The Palm at lunchtime to watch it and, because of extra time and penalties, it was well into dinner service before they got us out of there.
Same-country match-ups in the Fairs Cup / UEFA Cup (pre-2009) / Europa League (since 2009)
Spurs vs. Wolves in 1972
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1980
Juventus vs. Fiorentina in 1990
Inter vs. Roma in 1991
Parma vs. Juventus in 1995
Inter vs. Lazio in 1998
Porto vs. Braga in 2011
Atlético Madrid vs. Athletic Bilbao in 2012
So there's never been two same-country sets of finals in the same year, let alone the same country having both.
And reading all those European team names, give me an excuse to post this (https://youtu.be/ctaszjeaDK0).
