Three pitches, 1-0 Yankees.
-
After 1/2 inning...1-0 Yankees. Astros seem obsessed with falling behind early this series.
-
McHugh certainly settled down after the HR (no idea how much the wind helped it), struck out the next 3 on 12 pitches.
-
Altuve hits one off the top of the wall in LF...bounces back, ruled a double...under review, replays shows it hit the railing...should be a home run....

Not sure why the review is taking so long. Looked pretty clear to me.
-
still reviewing...Boone asking about the time limit for review....overturned! Home run!
-
Great job by Carlos and Yuli there with 2 outs. Gardner? Not so much.
-
GIDP with RISP. Dammit.
-
I think if you knock an infielder over, it should be a HR.

That ball took a nasty fucking hop. That’s how you lose teeth.
Correa with an RBI double to make it 3-1

Loved Dierker's quote: "Why couldn't McCann ever get a break like that?"
-
I love the pitch count for Paxton.

OMG Dierker with the vicious shade, saying they couldn’t use the shift because Biggio couldn’t make the throw from short RF

Just keep throwing those sliders and striking these chumps out

Altuve x 2

I think his knee is better.

Jose is seeing the ball pretty good.

Al2ve!

Correa don’t want altuve to have all the fun!

Healthy Jose, healthy Carlos. Wonderful.

That's the greatest (and grossest) thing I've seen in a while.

6 strong innings from Collin.

Devo’s beard is finally starting to fill in.

Tyler White just struck out looking playing tee-ball.

Tyler White just struck out looking playing tee-ball.
When they finally go back to 13 pitchers I’m hoping White is the one who is traded. Kemp is way more consistent and a better all around player.

James continues to unimpress.
-
Was hoping we were cruising to an easy non save situation win.
-
3 straight Yankees reach, no out. Get him out of there.
-
Walk, home run, single, walk
Yankees now with the tying run at the plate, nobody out. I’m not liking this development.
-
Get him the fuck out of here.
-
Hinch is pretty pissed as he goes out to yank James.
-
Putrid appearance.
-
I hope Rondon can clean up this mess James left.

Rondon now in to try to clean up James’s mess.

You don't usually see AJ that disgusted when walking out to the mound.

Hinch should be pissed. James needs to go down to AAA until he figures out how to command the strike zone.
-
Somehow that shitshow from James was only -8 points on my fantasy team. And it didn't cost me any innings pitched!
ETA: I got forgot about his inherited runners, who were also happy to score.

Pressly coming on to face Gary Sanchez.

Rondon out, and Pressly in. Tying run still at 3B, two out...

And fucking Sanchez up.

I don't carry around the deep reserves of Yankee hate that some of you guys not unreasonably do, but I'm on board hoping they lose 100 games this year and I'll tell you why. I would like to think I have an appropriate level of respect for the game. Because of that, it offends me deeply that the Yankees seem to believe that they can assemble a competitive team by putting together a lineup of giant goons who can crush home runs and a bullpen the back of which features a bunch of guys who throw 100 miles per hour. I don't think defense registers even as an afterthought to these idiots. This team's defensive ineptitude offends me more than it brings me joy at the resulting failures. It's not surprising, I don't suppose. They sent Derek Jeter out to play shortstop for 20 years. For any number of those years the best shortstop in baseball played third base right next to him, so they obviously have never cared all that much about defense. But this is pretty bad.
It's not the worst defensive team I've ever seen, but they obviously don't care at all, and that pisses me off.

Chuck, that was a fantastic rant.

McHugh this season: 17IP, 10H/5ER, 22K:5BB. Apparently the new slider.

I had flashbacks to Sergio Romo in one of Judge's ABs. Slider, slider, slider slider, in, out, freeze him over the middle

Agreed. I should not have attacked the man’s character for simply being unable to do his job. I was just pissed at the situation. But he does need to be sent down to work on said job. Bring the lefty Perez to replace him. Too bad there isn’t room for Tanielu, who hit that walk off slam for Express last night.
-
Well, there’s a pitcher headed to RR, but it’s Framber. No corresponding move announced yet.

Perez’s stat line at RR is not good in his one appearance so far. Guduan’s is a little better. Only one or two appearances so far though.

I’m guessing it will be Guduan. Lefty for a lefty with Perez staying down to get stretched out. Luhnow has been quoted as saying he thinks of Perez as a starter. We’ll see though.

May not be a pitcher since peacock will be in the pen for the next few series. Packing extra offense for the road trip wouldn’t be a bad idea, especially with Bregman’s Hammy a question mark.

You could be right but it almost has to be a pitcher since with Framber gone they are down to 11 if I’m counting right. Wasn’t AJ just quoted about a week or so ago as saying he’ll be glad when we can get back to 13 pitchers?? I don’t see any way they don’t add a pitcher back to the staff with Valdez gone, especially with the Mariners hitting like they have.

I will follow up my thought above with this one. If they are really going to go back to 13 pitchers, and I think they will, then that pretty much means either Tony Kemp or Tyler White has to go. I find it interesting that Valdez is optioned back to AAA and no immediate move has been announced from RR on who’s coming up. It could be they haven’t decided yet, or it could be it just hasn’t been announced. But it could also mean that a potential move for an innings eating relief pitcher could be in the works that would involve either Kemp or White being traded to make room for the 13th pitcher in the coming two or three weeks.
Going to be interesting for sure....

My gut tells me that Kemp is not going anywhere. I also don't see them going to 13 until some starters start to struggle or games pile up.

I certainly hope Kemp doesn’t go anywhere either. He’s a scrappy ball player who can handle the bat. He’s too valuable to part with in my opinion. I personally could do without Tyler White on the roster effective today. Would rather have that 13th pitcher or Alvarez called up. From the sounds of things, 13 pitchers is going to happen and probably some time in May if not sooner. The clock is ticking on that and what ever move they will have to make.

Your gut tells me Kemp isn't going anywhere, either. But what did you have for lunch...I've got a little turbulence down there.

White needs to start driving the ball.
Or rather needed to start a week ago.
But I'm guessing he'll need to struggle longer before they'd give up on him and replace him with a prototypical 80s leadoff hitter. Although I do like that particular hitter.
