Six pitches in...1-0 Yankees
-
Not watching - was that a strike ump rung Springer up on?
-
Not watching - was that a strike ump rung Springer up on?
Yes.
-
Not watching - was that a strike ump rung Springer up on?
Yeah, just caught the bottom of the zone.
-
B1:
Springer strikes out looking
Altuve strikes out swinging
Bregman strikes out swinging
1-0 Yankees
-
T2:
Torres...0-2...strikes out swinging
Lemahieu lines out to CF
Frazier strikes out swinging
1-0 Yankees
-
Astros with runners on the corners, nobody out...
-
Gurriel with a sac fly to tie the game
-
Gotta get it in play there Robby

B2:
Brantley doubles to LF...Frazier dives, but it's off his arm
Wild pitch, Brantley moves to 3B
Correa...works the count full...walks
Gurriel flies out F9, Brantley tags and scores on the sac fly
Correa steals 2B
Reddick rolls one towards SS, with the shift, no play, Correa to 3B
Chirinos...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Kemp flies out F9 on the first pitch
Astros strand a pair, but tie it up 1-1

He had two good pitches to hit, but missed them both.
-
I thought Kemp might have got his.
-
Come on, Cole
-
First two Yankees reach, but Chirinos starts the ol' 2-6-3 twin killing
-
T3:
Urshela...takes a strike for ball two...swings and misses ball three, then walks. Cole got fucked that at bat
Romine seeing eye single to RF, Urshela to 2B
Gardner bunts, right out in front of the plate, Chirinos hops on it, goes to 2B, and then to 1B as Gardner doesn't run...score it 2-6-3...Gardner arguing...Urshela to 3B
Judge...full count...flies out to shallow RF
1-1
-
Altuve!!!
Another home run CRUSHED to LF
-
Altuve!
-
Nice baserunning by Bregs there.
-
Not the best decision by Bregman going to third but it worked out.
-
Yeah, that seemed pretty foolhardy. Not that Correa seems inclined to take advantage of Bregman's success.
-
B3:
Springer...full count...grounds out 6-3
Altuve...3-0...3-1...homers to LF
Bregman...full count...walks
Brantley...full count...singles to LF, Bregman running with the shift on, third baseman goes to cover 2B, meaning no one is covering 3B, so Bregman moves to 3...
Correa...0-2...strikes out swinging....fugly at bat
Gurriel flies out F7
AGAIN...Astros leave a pair when thy get a runner at 3B with one out and can't make contact.
2-1 Astros
-
Not the best decision by Bregman going to third but it worked out.
Why not? No one was covering the bag.
-
T4:
Voit chops to 3B, Bregman with a nice play coming in
Sanchez singles to RF against the shift
Torres flies out F8
Lemahieu flies out F9
2-1 Astros
-
Why not? No one was covering the bag.
There was some risk involved. The Yankees fucked up the coverage six ways to Sunday.
-
B4:
Tarpley in for the Yankees
Reddick flies out F9, Reid Ryan cries yard
Chirinos singles to CF
Kemp grounds into 6U-3 double play into the shift
2-1 Astros
-
T5:
Frazier lines out to LF
Urshela...0-2...strikes out swinging
Romine grounds out 6-3
2-1 Astros
-
First two Astros reach...nobody out...
-
Well, this is a fairly revolting development. Especially since Bregman had worked this guy into exactly the count he wanted.
-
B5:
Cessa in
Springer walks
Altuve singles to LF on the first pitch, Springer to 2B
Bregman pops to 2B...IFR in effect
Brantley...0-2...strikes out swinging at a pitch that bounces
Correa...0-2...pops out D4
Astros leave a pair...this is becoming a really bad habit
2-1 Astros
-
RISP LOB.
-
Cole has gotten royally fucked this game.
-
Leadoff walk, bullshit umpiring and a missed double play...Yankees with runners on the corners, one out...
-
2-run double by Sanchez....3-2 Yankees...still batting
-
Cole has pissed off every umpire in the league. He's been fucked over on at least 10 pitches this inning
-

Cole doesn't seem to be able to pitch through adversity.
-
T6:
Gardner...3-0...walks on four pitches
Judge takes strike three for ball two...full count...takes strike four for ball four...WOW...incompetent...Gardner to 2B
Voit grounds to SS, Judge out 6-4, but Altuve's turn in the dirt and Yuli can't pick. Voit reaches on the FC, Gardner to 3B
Sanchez doubles to LF, Gardner scores, ball takes a funny carom off the wall kicks towards CF and Voit comes around to score
Torres strikes out looking
Lemahieu strikes out swinging
But the Yankees break all the rules and get a hit with runners on base...lead 3-2
-
Cole doesn't seem to be able to pitch through adversity.
All 3 starts this year
-
All 3 starts this year
Going back to last year in the postseason. It just seems that whenever something doesn't go quite right, the wheels fall off with him.
-
B6:
Gurriel lines out to RCF...hit well, but Judge had him played in the gap
Reddick singles to CF...Gardner bobbles the ball, moves to 2B on the E8
Chirinos strikes out looking
Cessa out, Holder in
Kemp pops to shallow CF
Another guy left in scoring position....3-2 Yankees
-
Astros 1 for 10 w/RISP, and that hit did not score a run.
-
Someone else will have to do some PBP
-
Jeez George, why'd you even take the bat up there?
-
Back to back 2-out doubles by Bregman and Brantley...ties this puppy back up
-
I like doubles!
-
Brantley hit a frozen rope right there

Nice to see a little 2-out rally by the good guys.
-
Bregman!! Brantley!!! Back to back doubles are sweet!
-
Correa has not had a good night...0 for 3, 5 LOB.
-
When did Rondon start dialing it up to 97?
-
When did Rondon start dialing it up to 97?
He was throwing that hard last year
-
Astros have go ahead run in scoring position, one out...
-
He was throwing that hard last year
I can add that to the growing list of things I no longer remember.
-
Bases drunk with Astros, one out...
-
Good patience by Kemp. It would have been easy to be jumpy and chase those low pitches.
-
Bases loaded, one out, Springer up. Be disciplined George, Green can't buy a strike right now

Please, BBGs, don't let Kemp's fall cost us anything.

Much better than Sunday’s AB in a similar situation.

Nice AB by Tuve

Nice AB from Altuve
-
Kemp “feet’s don’t fail me now” scores on altuve sac fly!
-
There was a fan shot after Springer's double, and it looked to me like the guy intentionally did a Bregman stare into the camera, which is kind of funny if true.
-
Someone needs to check the ground around 3rd.
-
Uh oh.
-
Come on Brantley, let’s make it slam proof...whoa what’s wrong with Bregman?
-
Shit. Bregman coming out...

Nice series win.
We'll see if Bregman needs a trip to the IL (weird to write that).
-
Oh god, please no back discomfort
Back discomfort is what you get after a meeting with a predator.

Hopefully it's just precautionary. Hamstrings are a fickle mistress.

Yes, I noticed that, too. Was exactly what the fan was doing.

Reminds me of Whitey Herzog's quote when he was asked to rate Charlie Williams as a ball/strike umpire: "It's a good thing he doesn't have a third choice".
I never thought I'd be in favor of an automated strike zone, but my god, some of these guys are simply atrocious.

The really incredible thing to me is it's the veteran umpires that are looking the worst the last few seasons.
The younger umps may not call the rectangle perfectly, but they are WAY more consistent.
