Machado 2nd inning HR off Gonzales, Dodgers lead 1-0. Woodruff in to pitch the 3rd with the pitchers spot up 1st in the bottom of the inning.

I read where Counsel said he before hand he was pulling out all the stops to win Game 1. He felt it was the most important game of the series, and he would do anything to win it. Not sure of the wisdom of that, but that may have been his thinking there.

Wearing down as many relievers as possible while giving the opposition looks at all your guys in the first game sounds like a great plan to me.

Surely any elimination game is the most important. I may not be keeping up with current events, but I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get eliminated in game #1.
