Astros put up 4 in the first 3 innings, including back-to-back jacks by Reddick and McCann.
Keuchel gives up a 2-run HR B4, and loads the bases with nobody out in B5.
B5, bases loaded, 4-3 Astros.

Keuchel not helped by JD Davis's defense.
ETA: Of course, he makes a decent play as soon as I type that.
-
Keuchel gets Smoak looking for the first out.
-
JD can play 1B/DH for the rest of his career as far as I'm concerned.
-
A bouncer to third gets the force at home, and a strikeout stops the bleeding.
End 5, 4-3 Astros.
-
No reason for JD Davis to be playing. True even if he homers.

Certainly not at 3B with Keuchel on the mound. That's just asking for trouble.

Keuchel's 3rd out 3rd strike was a thing of beauty.

It certainly was, especially considering the guts it took to go there after what Pillar did to him in the previous AB.
-
Basket catches make me nervous.

So what kind of "leverage" situation is this for Will?

Double dip for Tony Sipp!

Holy crap

Sipp made that one interesting.

Did not even make the dirt. Wow.

Blum: "Long hop or no hop. And that was a long hop."

Pillar is pretty damn good.

Pillar is pretty damn good.
We gave them 2 shift-fuck singles.
The polite thing to do would have been to let that one fall.
-
Pressly strong.
-
PLEASE put Marwin in on defense in the 9th. Please.
-
1 out double for Jake.
-
Altuve with a clutch 2-out, 2-strike single to plate Jake.
5-3.

Then gets picked off

Then gets picked off
What a buzz kill that was.

Wow, that pitch to Tellez could not have been more center-center. Osuna is lucky that one didn't go to the moon.
-
2.
-
Magic number is 2.
-
Robby Cano, you're my hero.
1-0 Sea over Oak in the 1st.
-
Bullpen was strong tonight.
Always weird when they play a game on turf. Funny for an Astros fan to say that.
-
Great win!

True, but it still needs to be hit... better that than walking him

Agreed.
Just watched a bit from the Cards Brewers game. Some 21 year from Cypress Creek just threw five FBs in a row at 103. Had to use a 92 slider to get the K though. I guess I’ve seen Chapman do that, but it’s an unusual sight.

Seriously? Have you watched Verlander pitch? Why do you suppose Tellez flies out? Luck?

The corollary is that Tellez was lucky to put that one in play. Yes, it was in the center of the zone, but that doesn't mean that it's easy to hit. It was a lazy opposite field fly ball. Be happy with it.

Impossible for him to be happy.

Oakland took a 3-1 lead on a Kris Davis homer in the top of the 6th, but Zunino doubled and Dee Gordon homered to start the bottom of the frame

I can't hate Chapman because he is a hell of a player on both sides, but I hate Chapman.
He's going to be a pain in the Stros side for many years.
-
A's get 3 singles and a sac fly to tack on 2 more in the 8th.
Mid 8
Oakland 7

4 run deficit in the 8th. You never see a home team overcome that.

See, the home team never overcomes a 4 run deficit.

I'll never understand Hinch's thinking on this.
At least he has gotten Fisher out of his system.
