2. Altuve 4
3. Bregman 5
4. Gurriel 3
5. Correa 6
6. Gonzalez 7

8. McCann 2
9. Reddick 9
Keuchel
-
Good to see Marwin back in the lineup.

I have started watching the new Jack Ryan series on Amazon Prime. In the second episode a character asks the Ryan character for fantasy baseball advice. She wants to know whether to pick up Grienke or Keuchel. (Surprised me that it wasn't Sale and Severino.) Ryan being an analytical guru spouts stats blah blah blah. Then answers Keuchel.

Watched the whole series already. Pretty good.

I like it. Will finish Ozark tonight after the game.

Duel between 2 of the last 3 AL Cy Young winners.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that stupid ESPN crawl at the bottom of the screen if you are watching online?

Does anyone know how to get rid of that stupid ESPN crawl at the bottom of the screen if you are watching online?
I don't believe that is possible.
-
Man, Yuli got fucked there.
-
Pretty nice when you don't actually have to hit the zone to get a strike called.
-
T1:
Springer singles to CF
Altuve pops out F3 on the first pitch
Passed ball...Springer to 2B
Bregman...3-0...walks
Gurriel strikes out looking at a pitch 8 inches off the plate...got royally fucked in that at bat, with two called strikes that were nowhere close
Correa...first pitch sails behind his head...strikes out swinging
No score
-
It sure would be nice if Correa were actually still a threat.
-
I was able to get Ford and Sparks synced up with the shit ESPN coverage. Happy Ty.
-
Pretty nice when you don't actually have to hit the zone to get a strike called.
Apparently you don't even have to come close
-
Man, Yuli got fucked there.
Strike 1 and 3 both off the plate.
-
It sure would be nice if Correa were actually still a threat.
Correa is the last guy I want to see at the plate in a clutch situation.
-
I don't believe that is possible.
Man, how distracting. Maybe I’ll get some duct tape.
-
2 balls in the air already for Keuchel.
-
Apparently you don't even have to come close
Let's hope Dallas gets the same calls.
-
Let's hope Dallas gets the same calls.
If that's the case, we might see a sub 4-our game.

3 in the air.
That one with 2 strikes.
-
3 in the air.
That one with 2 strikes.
None of them hit hard.
-
B1:
Betts flies to RF, Reddick in CF, so a shiftfuck double
Benintendi flies out F7
Martinez taps out in front of the plate, out 2-3, Betts to 3B
Bogaerts singles to CF on a 2-strike fat pitch, Betts scores
Pearce grounds out 3U
1-0 Sox
-
It must be nice to have a shortstop that can do that. Right now Correa isn't in the top ten.
-

He's not in the top 50
-
He's not in the top 50
Of shortstops?
-
I'm glad I'm getting the women's college volleyball scores on the screen. Otherwise I'd have to turn the channel.
-
Of shortstops?
Correct.
-
None of them hit hard.
Not hard, but the Betts pitch caught way too much outer plate for that alignment and the rbi pitch was too generous for 1-2.
The soft grounders were a good sign though. Hopefully he'll get dialed in.
-
MARWIN!!!
Ties it up.
-
King!
-
Marwin's back!
-
All hail the King!

Correct.
That's pretty harsh I had him around 23rd best. Mostly due to his glove work.
-
That stare did not represent their best effort.
They need to go back to the limbo. Correa is exempted however.
-
T2:
Marwin...full count...homers to RF
White strikes out looking at pitch WAY off the plate
McCann pops out F4
Reddick flies out F8
1-1
-

Thought you meant as a hitter.

I think it should be put on hold and only used on special occasions.
-
Thought you meant as a hitter.
Well, in that case, yeah.
-
I would tell Joe Kelly not to quit his day job, but he's not very good at that either.
-
B2:
Somebody is batting, but ESPN isn't interested in showing who it is, instead preferring to interview Joe Kelly on his pre-game, bullpen shenanigans...but this guy eventually (I think it's Kinsler) works the count full and grounds out 6-3
Phillips...ESPN still splooging over Kelly's clown act...grounds out 3-1
Nunez...ESPN still hasn't acknowledged there's a ballgame going on...grounds to SS, Correa with a backhanded play, but can't nip the runner...infield single
Leon grounds out 4-3
1-1
-
B1:
Betts flies to RF, Reddick in CF, so a shiftfuck double
Benintendi flies out F7
Martinez taps out in front of the plate, out 2-3, Betts to 3B

That was not a shiftfuck double. No way he gets that ball unless he was playing on the line. Come on, HH.
-
That was not a shiftfuck double. No way he gets that ball unless he was playing on the line. Come on, HH.
The ball landed 30 feet off the line. It's easy to think it's on the line in Fenway because of the way the wall shortens to the Pesky Pole, but it's an optical illusion.
-
T3:
Springer grounds out 4-3 into the shift
Altuve grounds out 6-3
Bregman pops to shallow RF, and it drops right at Martinez's feet...I think it might have hit his feet, and Bregman ends up on 2B
Gurriel pops out F5
1-1
-
Patented Bregman pop knock.
-
JD would just DH on my team.
-
Now that was a shitfuck double.
-
JD would just DH on my team.
Not sure what he was thinking there...that's his ball.
-
Fenway has either the greatest or the stupidest outfield wall configuration in MLB. I go back and forth.
-
Put it on a tee for the MVP, why don't ya?
-
Here's a novel game plan. Cutters down the middle are a bad idea.
-
Keuchel not getting the same pitches off the plate Porcello is.
-
T3:
Betts hammers a hanging fastball to the wall in LCF for another leadoff double
Benintendi grounds out 4-3, Betts to 3B
Martinez flies out F7, Betts scores on the sacrifice fly
Bogaerts...3-0...3-1...walks
Pearce grounds into a FC on the first pitch, Bogaerts out 6-4
2-1 Sox
-
Keuchel not getting the same pitches off the plate Porcello is.
Nope.
-
I'm sure glad a slop throwing middle of the road shitburger of a pitcher is shutting the Astros down.
-
T4:
Correa...0-2...1-2...2-2...grounds out 6-3
Marwin grounds out 4-3
White strikes out swinging
2-1 Sox
-
Fenway has either the greatest or the stupidest outfield wall configuration in MLB. I go back and forth.
Let me help you... stupidest.
-
B4:
Kinsler singles off the top of the LF wall...Marwin got it back in quickly
Phillips grounds into 6-4-3 double play
Nunez singles up the middle
Leon grounds into FC, Nunez out 6-4
2-1 Sox

Do these announcers know there's a baseball game going on?
-
This ESPN announcing team is just not good. Waaaay to much chit chat banter. Trying to be cute. There’s a game on, people.
-
I am almost certain that I was able to select the Houston radio audio the last time they played on ESPN. I can't today which is a problem because this shit is brutal.

Do these announcers know there's a baseball game going on?

Pinch poke u owe me a coke. Or, jinx, if u will.

Jesus Christ, what a pompous, self important fucking windbag.
-
T5:
McCann singles to RF
Reddick strikes out swinging
Springer strikes out swinging at a pitch 3 feet off the plate
With Altuve at the plate, McCann easily caught stealing 2-4...not sure what the thinking was there.
2-1 Sox
-
What in the dumbass decision fuck was that?
-
What in the dumbass decision fuck was that?
They really wanted Altuve to leadoff the 6th?
-
They should probably just let Betts go to second to save time.
-
Has anyone considered getting Betts out to lead off an inning?
-
Dude is en fuego.
-
Mendoza or whatever her name is actually talking baseball. Wow.

Douchenozzle was safe by a mile.

She's trying to. The giggle-sisters she's calling the game with are working REALLY hard to keep it off track.

5-1 Sox

Of course.
-
Jesus Fucking Christ, Dallas.
STOP PIPING CUTTERS TO GREAT HITTERS YOU FUCKING TWAT.
-
Horrible pitch. Missed his spot and poor pitch selection.
-
Our pitching has been playing with fire with the top of their lineup this series.
Finally got pushed into the furnace.
-
Horrible pitch. Missed his spot and poor pitch selection.
IOW, BP.
-
B5:
Betts walks
Benintendi grounds out 4-3, Betts to 2B...Sox challenging...replay shows he was safe by two steps...will be overturned, yep, infield single
Martinez homers to LF on a belt-high meatball right down the center of the plate, Betts scores, Benintendi scores
Bogaerts chops to 3B, Bregman tries the backhand short hop, but can't handle it...infield single
Pearce strikes out swinging
Kinsler grounds into 6-4-3 double play
5-1 Sox
-
Altuve!
-
Altuve homers...one pitch after McCann...yes, Brian McCann was caught stealing to end the inning
-
The Division Series opened in Houston last year, dipshit.

I literally love Tyler White.
-
White with a 2-run double...5-4, tying run in scoring position for the Astros...
-
Threw him a 90 mph slider after he missed (fouled) the 95 mph heater down the middle.
Tyler was ready for it.
-
Reddick with a game tying double!
-
I literally love this team.
-
Okay so this Brian Johnson guy is not the lead singer in AC/DC.
-
Strange that the speedy McCann didn't get waved in, what with his base stealing propensity and all.
-
Let’s go, Springer.
-
Sad trombone for Springer.
-
Strange that the speedy McCann didn't get waved in, what with his basse stealing propensity and all.
He does look far more slim after his dl stint. Not that he should ever steal a base but it’s good to see him moving well again. That could be important down the stretch.
It’s SO good to feel this late season tension again after last year.
-
T6:
Altuve homers to LF on the first pitch
Bregman grounds out 4-3 in the shift
Gurriel singles up the middle
Correa singles up the middle, Gurriel to 2B
Marwin flies out to shallow RF
Porcello out, Hembree in
White...quickly down 0-2...1-2...2-2...doubles off the LF wall, Gurriel scores, Correa scores
Hembree out, Johnson in...
McCann walks
Reddick...full count...doubles to RF, White scores, McCann to 3B
Johnson out, Brasier in
Springer blown away on three straight fastballs
But the Astros bat around and tie it up...new ballgame, 5-5
-
And of course Springer takes a meatball to start his AB.
-
Not exactly a
SO shut down inning for Boston!
Gives Keuchel a chance to eat more innings.
-
The bat sounds in the ESPN feed sound like punches in Indiana Jones movies.
-
Roger has been grazing in a good paddock.

Okay, so this Steven Wright is not the stand-up comedian.

He’s safe which means he’ll be out.

Jesus, why so fucking long?

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!

T7:
Wright the Knuckleballer in for the Sox
Altuve bunt for a single, Phillips throws it into the stands, Altuve to 2B on the single and TE5
Bregman...tries to bunt..foul...0-2...flies out F8
Altuve to 3B on a passed ball
Gurriel...infield in...grounds into FC, Altuve out 6-2 at the plate...Hinch challenging...replay shows he's clearly safe...but call upheld anyway...WOW!!!
Correa...0-2...flies out F8
Astros get fucked worse than the Texans did...5-5 still at the stretch.
-
I thought two angles looked probably safe, one was probably out.
-
Fucking bullshit.
Fuck the league fuckwits.
Definitive view from 1B side showed hand down, then tag.
They chose to ignore it because who knows why.
-
I thought two angles looked probably safe, one was probably out.
The thing is: if any view shows space between the glove and the player while the player is touching the plate, the he's safe.
-
I thought two angles looked probably safe, one was probably out.
There’s the rub. Probably. Has to be convincing to overturn.
-
There was no proboably to it.
There was a definitive angle, that showed his hand down BEFORE the tag was applied.
So, you know, that usually means the runner is safe.
-
Well that's a refreshing way to end a Betts AB.
-
Martinez was talking to his bat as he walked up. Too funny.
-
I'm glad we don't have to listen to Ashby tell us, yet again, how it's just as quick to glove the ball and throw as it is to barehand it and throw.
-
B7:

Let's keep the pressure on.

That was a pretty spectacular play by Correa

Yes. Did they say he was out or did not see enough to overturn the call on the field?

Reddick grounds into 4-6-3 double play

There’s the rub. Probably. Has to be convincing to overturn.
That’s not how it works. Some angles are better than others. One cannot overweight a shitty angle as justification for ruling it inconclusive. If the best angle is inconclusive, then you’re right that the call should stand.

It was clear that Altuve’s hand was on the plate before the tag was applied. Either the replay officials in New York are blind, or they had alterior motives for not overturning tue call.

Bogaerts has been one lucky hitter this weekend.

McHugh with a 6.75 ERA in August, 3.86 in 2.1 innings so far in September.

Reason number 1,000,000,000 I could never be a MLB Manager. I would've been tossed .005 seconds after they signaled out after the replay, then gotten a 10 game suspension for bumping any umpire that got close to me.
The fact that replay "makes the call" and there's no recourse after is fucking crazy.
-
Sipp needs to atone for his last 2 outings with inherited runners.
-
Hinch does not do his relievers any favors.
AJ didn't tell McHugh to attack the batters box like he did to Kinsler.
-
Big strikeout.
And A-Rod needs to be quiet, though he’s correct. It should be 6-5 Astros and Porcello was getting calls off the edges in the early innings.

Sox fans went full Cub Yard Cry on that routine fly ball.

Dear Jessica Mendoza: Nobody thought the game was over after Martinez’s homerun but you.
-
I’m still stewing over that call at home. Why can’t we get some sort of short explanation as to wtf they couldn’t overturn that? There was a view that was clear as day showing him beating the tag. With the technology available today they can sync views and see that the hand was down on the base right?! W. T. F.
If they’re just going to defer to the decision made on the field whenever they might have a slightly tough call on their hands then why have this shit there in the first place?

I’m still stewing over that call at home. Why can’t we get some sort of short explanation as to wtf they couldn’t overturn that? There was a view that was clear as day showing him beating the tag. With the technology available today they can sync views and see that the hand was down on the base right?! W. T. F.

MLB decided they didn’t want the Red Sox, with baseball’s best record, to get swept at home and intervened on their behalf.

That was strike 3. More in the zone than a dozen called strikes tonight.

Damn straight it was.

Today in the football game one of the fuckwit refs misspoke and said that a pass interference call was against 24 on the offense when it was plainly 24 on the defense. It was plainly defensive pass interference and of course no Texan who plays offense wears 24. When the official corrected himself Belichick went fucking nutso on the sideline.
I wonder what it would feel like to root for a team that so regularly got the benefit of fucking ALL the calls to where you feel aggrieved when a guy misspeaks and then corrects himself to your detriment. I wonder what it would feel like to root for a team where you felt like you had a right to bitch about a pitch that was called a strike that was clearly through the strike zone.
I guess I'll never know.

B9:
Rondon in
Betts flies out F9
Benintendi singles to LF
Martinez grounds into FC, Benintendi out 4-6 at 2B
Bogaerts singles up the middle, Martinez to 2B
Lin, pinch runs for Martinez
Moreland flies to LF, Marwin let's it drop at his feet and tries to barehand it on the bounce, Lin scores,
Astros go down 6-5
-
What the hell was that Marwin?
-

Thanks a shit ton, MLB Replay team, you bunch of cocksuckers.
Your golden boys get their W.
Fucking bullshit.
-
Shit.
Fucked by replay, fucked by a strike 3 call with 2 outs in the 9th.
-
Should be a tie game now.
-
What the flying fuck was Marwin doing in LF? Never even made an attempt to catch it
-
That was pretty fucking lame.

Not sure if Marwin is comfortable with diving his first game back from his oblique soreness. However, the effort was pathetic.

Then why the fuck isn't Jake Marisnick out there?
-
Took 2 out of 3 from the best team in baseball and lost a game in the standings.
Fuck the fucking Rangers.
-
Come on, people.Marwin had no chance to catch that. Bad luck after HPU blew strike 3.
-
Just going to make it all the sweeter when they get knocked out in the ALDS (again)

Big time.
All that bitching by Boston paid off. They got a call, then got their hits.
Bastards.

The Rangers didn't even try. They weren't hiding it.

Agreed.

We let that squad sweep us after the As swept them in Arlington.
Terrible.
Now it's time to beat Detroit.

With Reddick, Marisnick or Kemp out there, that ball is caught. Furthermore, he ran around the ball instead of running *to* it. It's as if he was setting up for a throw to the plate, rather than trying to catch the ball. Finally, if he's not healthy enough to dive for a ball to save the game, he shouldn't be out there in the 9th.
-
If that replay can’t get overturned than the current system is broken. I don’t think there’s any Ill intent but if you’re paralyzed by the call on the field and have to see everything perfectly from every different angle even if one is pretty fucking clear then fuck that shit. It’s only another way to delay the game.

Oh I know. The Astros have made their own bed here. The A's have it relatively easy from here on out, so the Astros have to keep winning.

2nd that.

This ESPN announcing team is just not good. Waaaay to much chit chat banter. Trying to be cute. There’s a game on, people.
3 people in a broadcast booth is never a good idea. Even if one of them is Jeff Bagwell.
-
Even the Boston Herald says he was safe.

I'm glad there's a game tonight to get that mess out of my head.
I woke up still stewing about it, and not just the blown call at the plate.
