Baseball is back

I love Bregman, but man, he has terrible baserunning instincts.

I'm not sure there was a lot he could do about that one. I sure thought it was a hit.
-
Have they said anything about Correa? I missed it if they did.

He should've been at least thinking it might be caught. He was 3 steps on his way to 3rd instead of hedging his bets.
With nobody out, there's no reason to be off to the races on the crack of the bat.

He may have been toast either way, but he took a few steps towards third after the ball was in play and didn’t freeze on the liner off the bat.

Tucker probably hasn't seen many curves like that in AA and AAA.
I wish George would just try to go up the middle with these, instead of trying to turn the ball into dust.

So, Hinch said Carlos Correa is working out back in Houston and isn't doing any baseball drills. He won't return any time soon it appears. More to come.
Posted already in the TZ.

No baseball activities. Can't swing a bat. Getting treatment and rehabbing at MMP. No timetable for return.

Nice tag by Reddick to extend the lead

Nice job by Reddick. Not sure Springer deserves an RBI there, but I'll sure take the run.

I wonder how many 0-2 counts Bregman has found himself in this year.

That would make 24, according to BR.
Nice help from Kinsler that inning, heads-up play by Reddick.

Thank you. Looks like that's roughly 5.5% of his ABs.

I would have guessed about 5. Seems like everytime hes at the plate its 2-0 or 3-1

Famiglia is getting traded to “mystery team.”
ETA: the New York reliever Familia, not the mediocre NY pizza joint Famiglia.

Twitter rumors suggest it may be to the A’s.

That would be interesting, in a "little brother suddenly thinks he can beat his older brother in HORSE" sort of way.

I think they have their sights firmly set on their other brother up the coast.
-
DK with 32 pitches through three innings. Efficiency.
-
I'll say this about Tucker: he doesn't seem anxious at the plate. Hopefully as he sees more pitches he'll figure out what to do with them.
-
What a fantastic play by Yuli!!!!
-
4 pitches for Skaggs, 11 for Keuchel that inning.

Heard some talk over the last couple of days that the Astros have checked in on him.

When they talk about Alou, I just remember an at-bat where somebody threw at his coconut and he defended himself by lacing a line drive into the LF corner.

I remember that! I also remember how he would drop the bat on a bad pitch to prevent himself from swinging at it.

I'm guessing that the "Name That Astro" is Willy T.
-
Damn, that sucks for Tucker. Hit that one hard.

It would be fantastic if Cy Keuchel is making a return.

Oh, come on, that's an error.

Catch the damn ball Marwin!!!!!!

How could it not be?
-
I don’t think that’s a hit, but I don’t see how the scorer reversed himself now.

Marwin makes that play 99 of 100 tries.
grrrrr!
-
That's just cruel.
-
That was an incredibly chickenshit ruling of a hit by the official scorer. The stadium erupted in boos as soon as tbey posted it as a hit.
-
Not a hit. Marwin had that until, he didn't.

Agree, but this is on Marwin not the scorer. No hitter or not, you have to catch that ball. That wasn’t an especially difficult play.

Yeah, I saw the reports earlier but I don’t understand this move by the A’s. Their pen is STRONG. They need rotation help. They already have a closer and a setup guy. This would be a waste of tradable assets in my opinion.
If this does go through, it will be another closer off the board. With each one that gets dealt the price for the others likely goes up. If we are going to deal for a closer, better move quick.

That's the first time I've ever been thankful for the other team getting a base hit.
-
Jesus Marwin, just get an out.
-
Come on, Marwin, just take the fucking out. That's a brain-dead play.
-
What the FUCK Marwin?!?!? You are up 3-0. Take the fucking out at first. Now the tying run is at the plate.

Wow Marwin. Seruously low IQ baseball.
-
Marwin blows no hitter and the shutout.
-
Marwin should have to walk to the hotel tonight. What a boneheaded play.
-
Speaking of terrible, Eschenfelder is horrible as a pbp guy. This is gonna be aong road trip.

My ears were bleeding during the last series with Stanton as the PBP guy.
-
Speaking of scorers, I'm assuming that run is earned because on the fielder's choice you can't presume that the out would have been made at 3rd?
-

I think he's still talking.
-
Dallas had a great outing though. This was a night that I really missed Correa.
-
Nice job by Keuchel, not only tonight but over his last few starts.

Thought Stanton was doing color? He was talking all the time so I guess I couldn't tell.

Sidebar: Any update on McCann????

I think tonight is Blum and Eschenfelder, but who knows.

Ouch. I thought he took that off the schnozz at first.

Yep. He was formidable tonight.

If the official scorer had a sense of humor he would have called it an error.
-
Tucker seems to always be in an 0-2 hole.

He's also good at the GIDP.

Jesus, George needs those Mexican umpires to help him out with that one.

He fits right in then. I think it is a prerequisite to being on this roster! [emoji12]

Too bad there's no reason to nominate posts because that is funny.
-

They would have called it a touchdown.
-
Ok, let's close this one out.
-
Come on, Rendon, let's bear down here.
-
I'm a lot happier seeing Trout up with nobody on base.
-
Suck it Scioscia!
-
Sweet!
-
Bang!
-
Sweet job by Rondon with back to back K’s of Trout and Upton to close it out!!

Nice win!

I’m generally quick to criticize Kuechel, but he handled the Marwin “hit” well in the interview. I was expecting worse.

Marwin's quotes were excellent as well.

Keuchel has won four decisions in a row, in those last four starts: 27.2IP, 19H/4ER, 18K:6BB, with opponents hitting .194/.236/.224. Keuchel now has back-to-back starts without allowing an extra-base hit.
