A’s must be saying “Oh, NOW Lucroy fields the tapper”

I hope this news doesn’t mean McCann is done.

Gattis and Marwin both swung at ball four.

And now Kemp homers in Stassi. B4, 4-0 Astros.

I like seeing Tucker, but he puts Kemp on the bench.

That was more like a hand grenade.

I agree. Man, we a nice problem there.

4 spots for Springer, Kemp, Tucker, Gattis, and Reddick. Can mix in a few off days.

Need a double play or a strikeout here.

Morton gives up a bases loaded double. T5, 4-2, still nobody out.

Burned by the shift. 4-2 game.

McHugh K’s Khris Davis. 2 outs. Runners still on 1st and 3rd.

Routine fly to center. No one there.
-
Olson walks. Bases juiced, two outs.

Chapman pops out to Gurriel. Inning over, 4-3 Astros.
-
Morton gets a grounder to third, runners hold, then a slow grounder up the middle dropped by Marwin.
McHugh relieves, getting a K, walk, and pop up to escape further damage.
Mid 5, 4-3 Astros.

Not nice at all. Someone sits, and Tucker needs to play.

I am extremely nervous about this game.

I mean it is a nice problem to have. It beats not having quality people to put out there.

Not watching ... who was supposed to be there?

I feel you. Would not be a good look to let the upstarts in your division take 3 of 4 from you in your yard, not to mention we need to keep the Sea Hags at bay.

Me too. It’s one of those where you’re like, Well they’re ahead, but I sure don’t see them winning it!
-
Altuve is killing us.
-

OF shifted WAY around to the left. Ball hit to dead center, and Reddick could not get there.
-
Altuve must be drunk.
-
We were lucky to’ve gotten the one against this A.’s team. They’re hot and we’re beat up, slumping and still kind of suck at home.
-
Damn, damn, damn.

What’s being reviewed here? Fair/foul?
-
Fair/foul, but the ATT cameras did not have a shot of it.
Wow, Devo.

This right here. It's 2016 all over again. They have to blow out the other team to win (or get stupid lucky like this Tuesday). The one thing they've done better than 2016 is starting pitching. Verlander or Cole or whoever goes nuts and they can blow somebody out 2 - 0. But it looks like the rotation has now been downgraded from "superhuman" to merely "excellent." I'm not sure that will be enough when nothing else on the team is working right.

Yeah. Disastrous season.
62 wins
-
This offense just lets mediocre pitching off the hook time and again at home. Its fucking disgusting.

The 2016 Astros won 84 games. Even if they lose today, the 2018 Astros are on pace to win 105 games. Terrible comparison.

Harris getting his pitches from the same puss-bucket as Devo.
-
....and Altuve decides to keep his head firmly in his rectal region.

The 2016 Astros were 51-44 at the same point through the season. In case you forgot the Astros’ current record due to your present hysteria, the Astros are 62-33 and 24-8 in their last 32.

If they keep getting god-tier starting pitching they'll be just fine.
If they don't, it's going to be tough.
-
Harris remembers pitches are harder to hit when they don't go straight and gets out of the jam nicely.
-
At this point, I"d almost rather see the A's catch the Mariners for one of the wild card spots and put the fear of God in the wild carder of NY/Boston, and then play the other of the two in the first round. Astros take their chances with the Indians.

Come on. 28 over. Correa out. Springer slumping. Altuve slumping.
As are a very hot team. Too early to cry doomsday.

The Astros have scored the 2nd most runs in baseball, and still have the best run differential in baseball. They’ll be just fine.

Add Gattis suddenly cold, bullpen woes and suddenly poor starts from McCullers and Morton. Not that the A.’s had nothing to do with it, but this is probably as strong as they’ll be all year and hopefully as weak as we’ll be and they still had to have everything break right to win 3 of 4. Not fretting, just glad to see those guys out the door.

the big mystery to me is that they are not as good a team at home as on the road. Two different teams. It has mostly been the opposite in the past.

Ditto. Also the most alarming.

Let’s not worry about postseason matchups just yet.

This. We need Correa back. Just need to win this weekend series and we are ok.

True, and this is something to worry about in my opinion.

After giving up a two-run homer to Pujols (the second homer of the first inning), James Paxton has been pulled. Apparently an injury.
