At least Seattle finally lost a game.
The pitching is finally coming back to earth. The offense is going to have to wake the hell up.
-

But 4-0 Rangers

Cole is really out of sorts.
There has been alot of maintenance on the mound between innings. He hasnt looked comfortable at all from the very first warm up pitch.

Thinking about making my first trip to MMP. My dad took me to the Astrodome and I’m thinking of taking my son to MMP. We’ve seen the Astros in other places but I haven’t been to Houston in 30 years. Is it the proverbial “there isn’t a bad seat in the house” type of stadium or is there an area or section to definitely avoid?

There are seats that are worse than others, but I don't think there's anything that's dreadful. The upper deck is high, but it's not removed like new Comiskey is, for example.
-
RRRRRRRREDDICK!
-
That was helpful. Let's get some more.
-
I realized I was using some budget OFS company coozie that I was handed at some conference and just switched to my trusty Astros one that brought us luck last night. I apologize for the offense’s late arrival.

Astros with the bases juiced...two out for Bregman...

I agree with this. Some seats are obviously better than others, but there is no special tip to know such as avoiding the columns in the field boxes at Fenway. Factoring in the cost, the best bang for the buck are field box behind the dugout slightly up the right field or left field line from the dugout or the bottom few rows of the low section of the upper deck behind home plate.
Honestly, I have a blast buying a walk-up ticket at the last minute and checking out different views, but, if it’s for a special occasion with a younger kid, I’d try to get as close to the action as possible so they’d be excited and engaged.

And a single. Now it's time for Altuve to act like an MVP.
-
Bregman with an RBI single...bases still loaded for 'Altuve...

Marwin grounds to 3B and Profar throws it in the dirt, Guzman can't pick it...TE5

Kemp flies out F9 on the first pitch, runners hold
Springer...2-0...3-0...walks to load the bases
Bregman singles to LF, Marwin scores, Federowicz to 3B, Springer to 2B
Altuve grounds into a FC on the first pitch, Springer out 5U at 3B
Astros cut the lead...4-3 Rangers

He hit that ball very hard.
-
He hit that ball very hard.
I realize he hit it, but he's not required to swing at every pitch. There was little he could do with that pitch other than ground to 3B

Or hit it by him. Lots to criticize about the previous AB. Not that one.

Ray Liotta looks stoned off his ass in that commercial
-

He's looked pretty weird for a while now.
-
The shift is maddening at times.
-
I'd have Cole on a pretty short leash here. He obviously has little control tonight.
-
B5:
Profar with a shiftfuck single to 3B
Odor...full count...walks, Profar to 2B
Chirinos grounds into 6-4-3 double play, Profar to 3B
Gallo...0-2...strikes out swinging
4-4 is the score

Harris looms
ETA: saw Britton pitch an inning today. He got a lot of chase strikes.
-
Harris looms
Perfect verb. It could go either way.
-
T6:
Federowicz flies out F7
Kemp grounds out 6-3 on the first pitch
Springer...full count...strikes out swinging at ball four
4-4
-
Eschenfelder’s voice intonation on that soft Fede looper was the announcer equivalent of all the yokels’ shouts of anticipation every time a ball is hit in the air out of the infield at MMPUS.

To be fair, it was a good swing, just hit it off the end of the bat...but yeah, crying yard on a shallow popup...not a good look.
-
Jesus, not again!
-
The old 1-5-3, no big deal.
-
WTF? Bregman, or more accurately choo’s bum wheel, bails us out.

I'm shocked...and pleased...to see Choo bunting there with two on and nobody out.

Bannister to the rescue.
-
T6:
Harris in...
Guzman...weak roller to 3B...but, you guessed it...shiftfuck
Deshields bunt single on the first pitch, Guzman to 2B...nice pickup by Bregman but too good a bunt
Choo bunts back to the mound, Harris throws to 3B, but Bregman not on the bag, who then throws to 1B to get Choo...1-5-3...Guzman to 3B, Deshields to 2B...if Bregman's on the bag it's an easy double play
Andrus...infield in...grounds out 6-3...runners hold
Mazara...3-2...strikes out swinging
Still tied 4-4
-
Harris pitched around some bum luck to keep it tied.

While we wait for the Astros to start vaunting in the 7th, I have a question. My wife pointed out last night the the American flag on the jerseys is backwards. Why is this? I’ve never noticed but now that she’s pointed it out that’s all I see.

Tell her to turn the flag over and look at the other side. The blue field always towards the "forward"
-
T7:
Leclerc on the mound...
Bregman pops out F6 on the first pitch
Altuve pops out F3
Gurriel pops out F2 on the first pitch
That was easy
4-4 still
-
He's looked pretty weird for a while now.
Yes, he really has.

Think of it as the backside of the flag.

B7:
McHugh in...
Profar flies out F9
Odor...full count...pops out F4 on a basket catch by Altuve...wind really making it tough

Yeah, but at least now he's hitting it. I think he may be on his way back.

He’ll be back, but the swing was similar to the one he put on the robbed homer last week and he’s still scuffling.

I realize that was difficult because of all the other circumstances, but Fedo really ought to make that catch.

This game seems to be on pace to set the record for foul pop ups, even if I have no idea what that might be.

Fuck off, Bannister.
Just felt like that needed to be said.

Extra baseball!

I assume the term means the opposite of "dirty food". What other usage is there?

Now Altuve has to try to take a bag here

Hope Yuli is OK. Can’t afford anymore injuries.

Ouch! Fucking goofball Rangers.

Panera, whose ad inspired my comment, and others use it to imply that food is healthy. So, for example, if you eat unwashed lettuce and chicken it’s still “eating clean.”

It's Marketing terminology for non GMO ingredients and shit like that. It's just another way to reach a new target market without alienating the people who just want their shirt fresh and tasty.
-
This pitcher is fucking up. Make him pay.
-
Sweet! Fuck off, Rangers!
-
Poifect.
Ok, Marwin. Make them pay for the disrespect.
-
One of my favorite routines/rants of the great Bill Hicks was the one where he implored people in marketing to kill themselves.

Who's got the bottom of the 10th? Giles?

Him and Sipp were warming, but I assume Giles.

This sentiment is fashionably packaged for mass consumption by the simple, yet straightforward “KYS.”

Bregman grounds out 6-3

Gattis...Pickoff attempt at 2B goes into CF...Altuve to 3B, Gurriel to 2B...infield now has to come in...lines to CF, Altuve tags and scores and Gurriel to 3B on the sac fly
Reddick intentionally walked
Reddick steals 2B with no throw
Marwin...3-0...intentionally walked now to fill the bags
Federowicz...0-2...1-2...2-2...flies out F9
Astros take a 5-4 lead

Astros win!
5-4 in 10 innings is your final

Sweet! I will sleep well tonight.

"Eat Clean and Lift" is a motto I saw used by bodybuilders/powerlifters several years ago. I'm not sure Panera means it in the same way.
-
Another nice win. Needed those after those efforts in TB.

I haven't noticed it so much with them, but that is because I usually watch the games on the telly rather than listen on the radio. But I think it did take a while to call Reddick's HR Tuesday night.
Either way, it drives me nuts. All you have to do is watch the outfielder - they'll let you know if they are going to have a chance at catching it.

I noticed it watching videos and highlights of the postseason and WS. Like you, I seldom listen to an Astros game on the radio.
