Let's swing the fucking bats tonight, boys.
-
This game is on Fox, btw, so have the Worrell button handy.
-
And part of the problem last night was we didn't do the Friday Night Booze call. I'm doing the Zacapa rum again.
-
This game is on Fox, btw, so have the Worrell button handy.
High probability I'll activate the Worrell button and sync the TV with the radio broadcast.
Meanwhile, let's kick these dipshits in the ass.
-
I want to see the home team score runs!
-
Looks like a lot of people with seats in the Diamond section forgot the game time.
-
Interesting strategy: terrify the batter with the first pitch then get the K.
-

Button engaged, Cap’n.
Lance is the proverbial “all over the place” early.
-
T1:
Merrifield strikes out swinging
Herrera...full count...walks
Moustakas grounds into FC, Herrera out 3-6 at 2B, relay to 1B was in time, but McCullers didn't get his foot on the bag
Perez...full count...strikes out swinging
No score
-
This dude's strike zone is interesting
-
WTF was that, George? You could have left your bat in the rack.
-
Humble suggestion: drive the ball to RCF if he insists on living on the outside.
-
B1:
Springer strikes out looking at three pitches on the outside corner
Bregman grounds out 6-3
Altuve...full count...walks
Correa flies out to shallow RF
No score
-
Interesting last night to hear Bagwell in so many words say Correa needs to be better.
-
Interesting last night to hear Bagwell in so many words say Correa needs to be better.
He said he thinks he can be better.
-
People are hitting .300+ against Kennedy's fastball, and yet he's throwing fastballs. And we're watching them. Ack, phfft.
-
Lance, you're being very generous to that baserunner.
-
T2:
Duda flies out F8 on the first pitch
Gordon...full count...walks
Dozier strikes out swinging
Escobar...0-2...BALK!, Gordon to 2B...1-2...wild pitch makes it 2-2 as Gordon goes to 3B...strikes out swinging
0-0
-

Late to the party. Cabernet from the Texas Fall Creek vineyards.
-
B2:
Gurriel pops out F6 on the first pitch
Reddick flies out F7
Gattis flies out F8
0-0
-
Worrell button activated.
Yes, the smart play was to use it from the get go.
But listening to that crew for a little while is akin to seeing how bad the expired lunchmeat really smells.
-
T3:
Goins bounces out 4-3
Merrifield strikes out swinging
Herrera grounds out 5-3
Nothing
-
Some runs would be nice here.
-
Man, the Astros just can not catch up to Kennedy's 93mph fastball.
-

Summer pils. Will adjust accordingly. I have a bottle of Whitehall Lane Pinot on standby. Whatever it takes to score some fucking runs, even if that means delving into the liquor cabinet later.

Marwin...full count...strikes out swinging
McCann flies out F8
Springer grounds out 4-3 on the first pitch
0-0

Maybe the Astros thought the game started at 7:10.
-
And... game over.
-
3-0 Royals
-
Great.
-
T4:
Moustakas flies out F8
Perez singles to RF
Duda strikes out swinging
Gordon with a broken bat flair to CF, Perez to 2B
Dozier homers to RF, Perez scores, Gordon scores
Escobar grounds out 6-3

Not as bad as that popup.

That's it, Jose!
Come on, CC.

Sac fly rbi.
We scored!
-
Man, that plate is pretty wide tonight.
-
YULI!!! YES!
-
La Pina!!!
-
YULI!!
-
Man, that plate is pretty wide tonight.
No kidding. Altuve hit his pitch out of the other box because of it.
And because that's what he does.
-
Man, the way he released his wrists was beautiful. That's the way you hit 350 yard drives.
-
For those who have the Worrell button on, AJ Per-whatzit couldn't understand why the home run was 348 feel projected distance, since the wall says 315.
-
B4:
Bregman pops out F6
Altuve doubles down the RF line
Altuve to 3B on a wild pitch
Correa flies out F9 as Altuve scores on the sac fly...Correa's first RBI at home since June 1st
Gurriel homers on a line drive to LF
Reddick pops out F5
3-2 Royals
-

Even after it was explained to him that the ball went over the wall, it didn't hit the base of it, he still didn't get it. He ain't the brightest bulb in the lamp.

Herrera strikes out swinging
3-2 Royals

Marwin, center cut 92mph FB not your thing?

Marwin, center cut 92mph FB not your thing?
He prefers the slider at the ankles.
-
B5:
Gattis flies out F8 at the 408 mark
Marwin strikes out swinging
McCann...0-2...1-2...bounces one up the middle, Kennedy knocks it down, but can't find it as BMac legs out the infield single
Springer...3-0...green light, but late on a cripple fastball to make it 3-1...pops out F6, slams his bat as he's now 3 for his last 30
3-2 Royals
-
Someone please explain that terrible swing on a 3-0 mediocre FB.
How can you be late on that?
-
Lakewood Temptress.
-
Someone please explain that terrible swing on a 3-0 mediocre FB.

I think there was a slight hesitation on whether or not he wanted to swing. By then, it was too late.

Eaxactly the question I asked my TV. Verbatim.
-
T6:
Moustakas singles to CF
Perez flies out F7 on the first pitch
Duda strikes out swinging
Gordon with a soft line to SS, Bregman there in the shift
3-2 Royals
-
103 pitches in 6 innings. He wastes so many pitches.
-
I think there was a slight hesitation on whether or not he wanted to swing. By then, it was too late.
That's just not being ready to hit. If you have the green light 3-0, you're locked into a fastball out over the plate. That's they only pitch you should be expecting. He wasn't.
-

Looks to me like they’re looking off speed.
-
Now Altuve is taking FBs!
-
WTF!!!
-
WTF, Altuve?
-
B6:
Bregman...late on center cut fastballs to go 0-2...1-2...pops out to shallow LF
Altuve takes a fastball for strike one...takes a fastball for strike two, flails at a slider in the dirt
Correa...3-0...takes a meatball 3-1...3-2...pops out F6
3-2 Royals
-
WTF, Correa?

That was a fastball, belt high right down the center of the plate...not Correa's pitch
-
Oh look, more weak contact.
‘Twas Ball four
-
That was a fastball, belt high right down the center of the plate...not Correa's pitch
But he really thought it was prudent to half swing meekly at the slider off the outsider corner on 3-1 just to make sure he was loose enough to hack at the up and in fastball that would have been ball 4.

Peacock in
Dozier strikes out looking
Escobar flies out F7
Goins...0-2...1-2...2-2...flies out F7
At the stretch...3-2 Royals
-
All three guys in the booth didn't see Peacock's ball hit the dirt on that one pitch that bounced away. They thought it hit the bat. All 3 of them.
-
It's not even dark yet, and I'm out of rum
-
All three guys in the booth didn't see Peacock's ball hit the dirt on that one pitch that bounced away. They thought it hit the bat. All 3 of them.
To be fair, I think they thought it hit the batter's foot. Still wrong by two feet.
-
Throw a fastball.

After 19 years, the yahoos still haven't figured out that the train is the official symbol of the city of Houston, and has been for 160 years.

B7:
Gurriel grounds out 5-3
Reddick singles up the middle
Gattis flies out to medium LCF, the yahoos cries yard "the ball park will hold it"....yeah, most parks usually hold 320 fly balls to CF
Marwin...works the count full...strikes out looking for the third time tonight
3-2 Royals
-
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST SWING THE FUCKING BAT!!!
-
3rd time looking at strike three is incredible.
-
At least there haven't been any double plays, right? Or did I miss some?
-
Protect the plate, Marwin.
It's more effective than bitching after getting rung up.
-

Dude ...
-
Geez, ump's having a rough night
-
Brad, you fucking have to make that play. Gift single.
-
Double Play
-
Yep, should be overturned.

T8:
Merrifield taps back to the mound, but Peacock flubs it...I'd score it E1
Peacock out, Sipp in
Herrera...0-2...1-2...grounds into FC, Merrifield out 5-4 at 2B, Altuve with a quick turn, but Herrera called safe...Hinch challenging, replay shows he's clearly out...yep, overturned...twin killing
Moustakas...full count...grounds out 3-1
3-2 Royals
-
Nicely done, Sipp.
-
You know, I pitched from when I was 9 until I was 23, and I do not think I ever threw a ball which bounced at 50 feet.
-
Funny that Sipp has become a good lefty reliever in the final year of his contract.
-

I think I made some throws to 2B that bounced at 50 feet.

I do not know what we need at the deadline or where he will play, but Sipp quietly has become good again.

Bregman...full count...walks
Altuve grounds into FC, Bregman out 6-4 at 2B
3-2 Royals
-
Bregman looks like he should be in a Pink Panther movie.
-
We're gonna lose this game because we the batters couldn't be bothered to swing at slop masquerading as FBs from the starter.
-
Will Harris here to close it out.

Marisnick in to run for Gurriel
Reddick with a bloop single to CF, outfield so deep that Marisnick goes to 3B

162 games. You’re gonna have to win a few like that.
-
So I was rewatching highlights this morning, and got to Gattis’s sac fly to tie it in the 9th. If Gordon lets that ball
drop, I don’t know that Marisnick scores and the Royals win that game. It wasn’t very deep and Marisnick was on 3B waiting to tag. Once Gordon left his feet he had no chance, but if he’s upright and fields that ball cleanly on a hop...of course then you’d have Marwin up with one out and the bases loaded, but you never know.
