Iso 3s have been awful. The quick 3 off a pass with no defender should occasionally be passed up for a drive to the basket and certainly not rushed if you do shoot it.
That drive/dish 3 ws the best looking one fron that streak.
You don't need CP3 to recognize those things.

The modern NBA is as close to professional wrestling as a legitimate sports league can get.
I don't really know the history of NBA rules, but when FIBA took away the option of side ball or free throws in team foul situations it changed the game forever. I liken hacking the bad free throw shooters to some bad guy jumping up in the ring and hitting someone with a chair when the ref is looking the other way.

This game reminds me of why I stopped caring so much for basketball 3 or 4 years ago.
The league has turned into a 3 point shooting competition with shitty refs. The refs cost them at least 12 points on should be fouls but probably closer to 20. And the rockets just jacked up brick after brick after brick.
Maybe the rockets were afraid to drive and not get any calls? I wouldn't blame them if they thought that.

Harden can’t do everything. He can’t make Trevor Ariza make a shot. He can’t make Clint Capela make free throws. He can’t give Chris Paul guts. Harden plays his ass off. He ain’t perfect, but he gives it his all and he’s the best player they have.

The only way they scored at all in the 2nd half was taking the ball to the rim, Gordon and Harden, some dishes to Clint.

This is why the nba gets away with it: the right thing to say is 'we didn't lose because of the refs'.
But Harden was fouled 3 times on 3 point attempts with 2 completely uncalled and the third, which he made, was ruled on the floor so no basket and no and 1. That's 10 potential points on obvious calls.
The moving screen on the Curry 3 was also egregious.
Not why they lost, but the Rockets players/ coaches have to face consequences for their part.
(They did call 1 in the first on Thompson, apparently that ws the quota)

It's a pretty simple fix. Off the ball foul=no free throws. It should be a no brainer. Another one of the many reasons I don't watch much basketball. Not even sure why I watched the game tonight

I generally don't like rule changes, I would rather they stop fucking with them. But, I would go for a change back to the old team fouls rules (possession of shots), or if your wanted to make them less likely to do that shit you could treat it like a tech foul and anyone on the floor can take the shots. I don't actually want to watch a free throw shooting contest but if I have to, I would rather it was between the best in the league, not the fucking worst. The part that really shits me about the state of the NBA is that all the crap in the game could easily be straightened out under existing rules.

As Doyce points out, all you have to do is make off-ball fouls a side out and new shot clock. Or give teams the option. Up until the mid-80s, the NBA awardee a “three to make two” situation for certain fouls. You could bring that back. It’s an easy, easy fix. The NBA just doesn’t think anything is broken. .

Of course, the refs didn’t throw all those bricks from behind the arc, or make the Warriors drain everything they tossed up but, when the Rockets were looking to pull away in the 2nd qtr, the refs choked them down by not calling shooting fouls on Harden - even on one he actually drained - robbing the Rockets of points and momentum. They ensured the Warriors stayed close at the half, which allowed GS to do their thing in the 3rd.
Also, there’s a video going around where - with the scores close early in Q2 - the Warriors missed a shot and we’re given 2 points anyway. The clip continues well into the Rockets’ possession, and it’s not corrected.
With all those bricked 3-point shots, the refs still were the deciding factor.
I will return to not watching the NBA. Sorry Rockets, you’re a good bunch of lads, but the pro game is a joke.

I quit watching college basketball because the quality of play went down the toilet. Simultaneously, the quality of play in the NBA soared to new heights. It's a shame the league is still stuck in the 90s in their mindset of what people want to see.

I was sucked back in to the NBA last season, but the clear and present gaming of the results by the league - most obviously during the Rockets-Warriors playoff series - pushed me out again. I just googled the Durant non-call and it is as you describe. He collects and in-bounds the ball from basically the first row of seats.
It’s weird that they taint their sport this way. It diminishes the reputation of players like Curry who are clearly exceptional but should have an asterisk on each of their rings.

It’s not a “bad call”; it’s the product of the referees being instructed to let the Warriors win. When they’re so predisposed to favor one team, the refs will often slip far beyond the realms of plausibility and into farce. That’s not to say you can’t see them working, but they usually aren’t so outrageously blatant.
To wit, in game 6 of the western conference finals last year (played in Houston with the Rockets leadin 3-2), they called three fouls against the Warriors on Harden in the space of a few minutes. Each was while he was shooting a three yet each was called as a foul on the floor (giving the Rockets the ball out of bounds). Harden even made the basket on one of them. That was potentially 10 points denied by the refs; the Rockets lost by 9 and had to go to Oakland for game 7...

I haven't lost sight of either of those things. I gave up on the NBA as a rigged joke well before Donaghy showed up and drew the curtain back on how ridiculous the whole thing is. When he did, my response was, Of course.
It amazes me that people continue to invest time and resources in the NBA. But, as others have noted, people invest in the WWE.

The baseline ref was also staring right at Durant the whole time he took 4 steps out of bounds and then "saved" the ball out of the fan's lap.
That was the first NBA basketball I've watched this year, and I am glad I turned it on after halftime. Not surprised to see that nothing has changed, and I might tune in for some of the playoffs but I really couldn't care less.

I watched some of the second half, too. The depths to which otherwise reasonable people will sink when they find themselves between football and baseball seasons are downright shameful.

Got to give yourself the cover of Game 7 being at home for the Warriors or other team du jour. That way your shenanigans to put them over the top can be excused as home field advantage. So you have to rig the regular season to get them a high seed. Head-to-head results do the most damage.
The problem comes when you have to show your giant thumb in Game 6, like they had to do with the Rockets in last year's Warriors series and every series between the Rockets and Lakers.
Why they want the Warriors perennially to win is the mystery to me. Is it simply to protect Curry as the poster child?
