Profar was standing behind the door when first names were being handed out.

Verlander is setting them up for next time through the order. Or so I prefer to believe.

They take out one of ours, we take out two of theirs. Or whatever Sean Connery said.

Springer drilled on the first pitch...right on the elbow
Altuve flies out F7

-
Springer out of the game. Marisnick in at CF
-

Hamel gave a 'oh crap' reaction, who's buying it?
-
T4:
Choo flies out F8
Mazara pops out to 3B
Beltre strikes out swinging.
No score
-
Springer out of the game. Marisnick in at CF
I was surprised he took his base, that would definitely make your eyes water.
-
B4:
Gurriel...3-0...3-1...taps back to the mound
Bregman taps back to the mound
Marwin smokes one off of Beltre who picks it up and throws low to 1B...inexplicably scored TE5

That was one of the most feeble at bats I have ever seen from McCann.

Gallo...extreme shift one, everyone on the right side...0-2...1-2...lines out to RF ona diving catch by Reddick

Scoreless

Every time Verlander takes the mound the Astro hitters shit the bed.
It's frustrating.

-
B6:
Correa...3-0...leadoff walk
Gurriel flies out F8
Bregman grounds into 6-4-3 twin killing
0-0
-
Rangers with two on and nobody out...action in the Astros pen
-
Back to back walks loads the bases and chases Verlander. Devo in, bases drunk and nobody out...
-
I'm going to fucking pissed if we lose this game by scoring zero runs.
-
Missed the spot, sac fly.
Execution lacking.
-
T7:
Mazara...0-2...1-2...doubles to RF...Reddick WAY over in CF on the shift
Beltre...3-0...walks
Gallo...full count...walks...Mazara to 3B, Beltre to 2B
And that’s all for Verlander...Devo in
Profar...infield in...0-2...lines out to deep LF...Mazara scores on the sac fly...terrible 0-2 pitch, high fastball right over the plate after making Profar look terrible on back to back change ups
Odor...0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out looking
Chirinos...0-2...strikes out swinging
1-0 Rangers
-
I'm going to fucking pissed if we lose this game by scoring zero runs.
One run seems insurmountable. Sad.
-
Wake the fuck up, batters.
-
Time for the bats to quit fucking around.
-
B7:
Diekman in...
Marwin 2-0...grounds out 6-3
McCann...full up...takes a meatball for strike three
Gattis flies out F8
1-0 Rangers
-
This is fucking pathetic. Can we just play all of the games on the road?
-
Sandy Koufax has really pitched well today.
-
Rangers with a couple of 1-out singles off of McHugh...Sipp in
-
This is starting to piss me off. This team has no business losing to this collection of slapdicks. Very frustrating.
-
Sipp on the way in with 2 on, 1 out.
-

Hamels knows how to pitch. Rational me understands this.
The rest of me wants to vomit.
-
Hamels knows how to pitch. Rational me understands this.
Sure. He should be able to hold this team to two or three runs.
-
T8:
McHugh in
Guzman flies out F8
Deshields...0-2...1-2...punches a single to LF
Choo singles to CF, Deshields to 2B
That’s it for McHugh...Sipp takes the pill
Deshields caught stealing 2-5, Choo to 2B on the throw
Mazara...3-0 on a wild pitch, Choo to 3B...3-1...pops behind the plate and McCann drops it...E2 gives Mazara another swing, and he takes strike three
1-0 Rangers
-
Wow! Super job by Sipp!
-
Whew.
BBGs forgave McCann.
-
Man, that was a tough first strike on Fisher. And then he helps the pitcher out on strike two.
-

Yup.
Altuve trying to avoid the same fate.
-
Kudos to Josh for taking 2nd there.
Come on, Correa.
-
B8:
Reddick...full count...walks
Diekman out, Leclerc in
Fisher, pinch hitting for Marisnick...1-2 chasing in the dirt...strikes out on same...no need to throw him a strike
Altuve flailing wildly...0-2...1-2...2-2...flies out F8, Reddick advances to 2B on good aggressive base running, taking advantage of Deshields’s noodle arm
Correa pops out F3
1-0 Rangers
-
I'm no expert, but that pitch looked like one he usually punishes.
-
Goddamnmotherfuckingsonofabitchfuckfuckfuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I can't believe we're going to get shut out by these motherfuckers.
-
This shift against Gallo makes me laugh.
-

Rondon in...
Beltre...0-2...strikes out swinging
Gallo grounds up the middle, Bregman is there for the 5-3 play
Profar grounds out 4-3 on a nice shorthop stab by Altuve
One more chance...Astros chasing a run
-
Astros with the tying run on base...1 out...
-
Down to the last out...
-
This is not last year's Marwin.

McCann takes a fastball down the middle for a ball...Chirinos blocked the ump...ball 2...3-0...green light swinging foul...swings through a pitch in his eyes...full count...pops out to shallow LF
Astros put out of their misery 1-0...only offense is a seeing eye ground ball.
-
This is not last year's Marwin.
This is not last year’s offense. This is a poor offensive team.
-
Lame. Fuck this, I'm going fishing.
-
Shut out at home for the third time in the last four games.

A no hitter would have been nearly therapeutic. The 1969 team went 4-20 in April, was no hitted by Cincy’s Jim Maloney, had a retaliatory no no from Don Wilson the next day, and finished at .500.
-
J.D. Davis 1-1 so far tonight, batting .438.
Getting quality starts is not this team's problem. Time to go with 12 arms and get another bat.

Last three times with Verlander, he’s gone 22 innings, two earned runs and the Astros are 0-3, scoring a total of one fucking run. He could have thrown three straight 9-inning shutouts, and would be 1-2.

I wish there was a way to get Luhnow to pay attention.
-
I wish there was a way to get Luhnow to pay attention.
I wish I didn't have to watch this team lose its 3rd in a row to that team.
-
The Astros have scored one or zero runs in 8/20 games at Minute Maid Park this season.
- One run: 4
- Zero: 4
Unbelievable. Bats, they are sick.
-
This is not last year’s offense. This is a poor offensive team.
It’s a poor offensive team at home. Last I checked (some time last week) they had, according to Pythagoras, the best record in baseball. It’s weird.
If memory serves they were worse at home last year as well—or maybe that was just Altuve.

Better check again. They do not have the best record in baseball, and have not since being tied on Opening Day. And they are falling fast. I don’t really check the standings until the ASB, but they’ve been shut down to the tune of 1 run or less in a third of their games, and it’s no longer “early”.
-
I meant their Pythagorean record: expected record based on runs scored vs. runs allowed.

I think that's not very reliable with such a high-variance offense.

It would be interesting to segment their performance into "vaunting" and "vauntless" outings, then combine the Pythagorean results. [/lazy]
