The Astros lead 4-0 after 1 inning.

keuchel erases a leadoff double with a K, then a backwards K, and a groundout.
Double came on a hanging curve. Otherwise looked fairly sharp.

Nevermind the guy behind home plate in the Astros jersey screaming random names - that's just my father communicating with his grandkids.
-
Springer and Altuve walk to leadoff the second.
-
This guy is dangerous.

Giolito quickly works out of the bases loaded jam . . .

Giolito doesn’t appear to have his top shelf stuff tonight.

Giolito was at one time the number 1 pitching prospect in MLB
-
He's over 60 pitches.

Did you ship them off to the south side before hastily making your way to Alinea for a 7 pm reservation?

I just lost my stream here in the jungle. On a perpetual “commercial break, your game will resume shortly.”
-
Finally found this game on tv after the fireworks of the first two innings..
-
My parents, who live in Houston, flew to Chicago, got seats behind the plate, screamed like idiots, which was transmitted via MLB AtBat to Manhattan, where my 19 month old laughed his head off.
Imagine if Marconi could have seen this...

I've had that happen, you might need to go back to the select game screen and restart.
-
72 pitches, 7 walks, 2.0 innings, 8 earned runs (with two runners still on base, so that could get worse). That's pretty remarkable.

Well you missed guolito walk the leadoff man and plunk Gattis.
Relief pitcher ibb the way in.

Did it a couple of times, and I’m back live.
BTW, I don’t think I have to remind anyone that when I left the country, the Astros started mashing.

See you in mid-November.
Hope you packed your malaria meds.

Nice to see Keuchel get some run support.

Sounds like everybody needs to start worrying about typhoid.

Wow. Josh baby!

This team is starting to look familiar.

The White Sox really are not a very good team... so maybe this is just what the doctor ordered to get the boys back on track...

Wash your hands after taking a dump. That’s always good advice.

I’ve kinda forgotten that Keuchelmis even playing in this game.
-
Keuchelmis
Is that some new holiday for masochists?
-
Maybe Dallas is losing a little bit of focus here in the 5th....
-
Thompson has some good genes

Volstad's act has been repealed.

It’s a bummer that Jostens isn’t selling cuff links that resemble the ring.

Just a small bit of irony... watching the White Sox broadcast on a local channel and get an ad for Cardinals Insider..
-
Cool screen shot.
Hats off to anybody sticking it out there tonight.
-
Rondon getting another shot...
-
Nice effort on the comebacker, and nice throw by Altuve.

Meanwhile, the Rockets are down by 18 with 5 min to play.

They're stinkin' the joint up.

Brad Peacock on the hill for the bottom of the 8th..

They're stinkin' the joint up.
They don't have the heart of a champion. It's the one thing they're missing.
-
C'mon Brad... get this next guy...
-
Nice work...

That first championship heart didn't start beating until they went to Phoenix down 0-2. That despite a 58 win (then franchise record) season.
So we'll see how this crew handles things. I have my doubts, but that may simply be because my brain can't comprehend that this is what basketball has become.

Is that Tony Sipp on the hill for the ninth?

Your eyes do not deceive you.

10-1 Astros win.. Blue star play by Bregman to end it.
-
That was a good game. Keuchel has looked good his last couple of starts.

What it’s become? A game about ball movement...dribbling, passing, and shooting? This is the golden era of professional basketball.
-
Yeah, Keuchel wins his first of the year after getting a sum total of 4 runs of support over the previous 4 starts.

I don't dislike the current game, it's just different, No post play and mid range jumpers are anathema. Rockets set the record for 3 point attempts multiple times this season and were correct in doing so.

Got that in the first inning tonight.

When they allowed tackling in the game it changed things, but not for the better. I love basketball and will probably always watch it but a lot of things drive me crazy about the NBA.

It’s definitely different than the grind it out, back and forth to the big man game of the 80s and 90s. But for the better, IMO. If you’re a fan of the game of basketball, you have to love the NBA right now. The fundamentals are so good. It’s what basketball was always meant to be.

Allowed tackling?
Hard fouls and 'earn them at the line' have always been a part of basketball. But in the modern game, players are allowed to wrap up players (tackle them) and not even try to make a play on the ball. Pin the arms and hold them down. I know that NBA and FIBA rules are different but a fundamental of the game is you are not supposed commit fouls, that’s why it is called a foul I guess. I haven’t seen any ‘hack-a-player’ lately, that shit just about makes my head explode, maybe because I am old enough to remember when ‘intentional fouls’ were a thing.

Intentional fouls have always been apart of the game, but they’re not allowed, in the sense that they still result in a foul and penalty. The NBA has tried to curb the egregious ones and the “hack a player” strategy to some extent with some rules on flagrant fouls, especially away from the ball. But it’s kind of like intentional walks or pitching around guys in baseball. It goes against the fundamental nature of what you’re trying to accomplish, but sometimes there’s a strategic advantage in putting the game in the hands of weaker players. Teams will always try to exploit a weaker player when they can. You’ll never officiate it out of team sports completely.

Wow, didn’t see that coming. The Sox have been a juggernaut.
