Talk about giving a team a run...
-
Curve looked pretty flat, too. Hope he finds it quickly.
-
Man, Bregman got fooled badly on that third strike. Nice pitch.
-
Strike zone is enormous tonight
-
Strike zone is enormous tonight
Indeed.
-

Springer lines out to SS
Bregman...3-2...strikes out swinging

Correa...has to dive back from strike one...takes strike two that almost hits his feet...a jillion throws to 1B...strikes out swinging at a bouncer in the dirt
1-0 Padres
-
None of these banjos have hit a ball out of the infield, the strike zone is 9 times the regular size, and McCullers can't throw a fucking strike
-
Someone get Lance a valium. Dude needs to chill the fuck out out there.
-
In spite of the size of the strike zone, McCullers is having trouble fitting a pitch into it.
-
God, his mechanics look terrible.
-
T2:
Asuaje grounds out 6-3 on the first pitch
Galvis walks
Spangenberg...full count...strikes out swinging, Galvis on the move...out 2-6
1-0 Padres
-
Wow, and all of a sudden the inning is over on a strike 'em out throw 'em out double play.
-
Nice throw McCann!!!!

Don't know why they'd risk an out on the bases with the way Lance looks tonight, but I'll take it.
-
Everyone got their rings except Blummer? WTF?
-
Great ABs by Reddick and Gattis. Cash it in, fellas.
-
McCann has shaved his beard
-
I don’t understand this strike zone. It is all over the place.

I have a good feeling about Fish right here....

-
The crowd's reaction to McCann's routine fly ball was a little over the top.
-
Not strike 3.
-
B2:
Reddick...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...singles to RF
Marwin grounds into FC, Reddick out 6-4

Bullshit zone tonight.
-
Yikes, that pitch was both high and inside.
-
Bullshit zone tonight.
McCullers ought to be able to take advantage of it if he can avoid bouncing the ball to McCann.
-
Damn! Must have been the salmon, not the player!

Tim Salmon?
-
Seriously...all he has to do is hit the side of a fucking barn, and McCullers can't even do that.
-
Is McHugh up yet?
-
Tim Salmon?
Why is nobody ever named Perch or Bluegill or Alewife?
-
Why is nobody ever named Perch or Bluegill or Alewife?
Plenty of Bass out there...
-
Is McHugh up yet?
Only 40+ pitches in in he 3rd. As wild as he is, he’s surviving. Crazy. Kinda like Game 7.
-
T3:
Hedges...full count...walks...the fucking 9 hole hitter...who's hitting fucking .056 on the season
Margot chops to 2B, but Altuve in the shift and has to scramble for it and throw to 1B...Hedges to 2B
Pirela strikes out swinging
Hosmer grounds out 3-1
1-0 Still
-
Walking a tightrope, but he's still standing.
-
Everyone got their rings except Blummer? WTF?
Out of curiosity, has anyone heard what the price tag was on those??

Everyone got their rings except Blummer? WTF?
Even Mattress Mack got one.
-
I've heard of people named Perch, Carp, Snook, Haddock... of course Trout
-
TIme to claw your way above .200, Alex.
-
Bregman gets fooled again, this time on a fastball. I'm sure he was looking for that slider.
-
I've heard of people named Perch, Carp, Snook, Haddock... of course Trout
Some dude in AZ named Pollock.
-
Wow, what an aggressive move by Springer!
-
Excellent baserunning from Springer.
-
‘Tuve taking the “bad ball hitter” crown from Vlad.
-
The zone is out of control.
-
That's a couple of aggressive first-to-thirds this season. Love it.
-
I didn't think Correa's swing was stout enough to get the job done, but it got plenty far. He's pretty strong.
-
Love Correa’s reaction. Not satisfied with just one RBI.
-

I thought I read where they were around $11,000...which is a $3,000 tax bill for the recipient, though I saw Brownie post that Crane paid that too.

But who pays the taxes on the taxes that were paid? /IRS inception
-
But who pays the taxes on the taxes that were paid? /IRS inception
I assume that was included in what Crane paid extra. My company pays the taxes on little extras for me, and it includes the "tax on the tax".
-
Marwin will see no fastballs in the fat part of the plate.
-
B3:
Springer...0-2...reaches down and punches one up the middle for a single
Bregman takes a cookie down the middle for strike three
Altuve with a Texas Leaguer to RF, Springer read it well and goes 1B to 3B
Correa...takes strike one which is literally three ball widths off the plate...0-2...hits one off his ankles to CF...sac fly as Springer scores
Reddick...3-0...walks on four pitches, Altuve to 2B
Marwin...full up...bounces out 4-3
But the Astros tie up 1-1
-
Opie has really carved out a niche. Good for him. He is a good dude.
-
T4:
Villanueva strikes out swinging
Renfroe breaks his bat popping out F6
Asuaje singles to LF
Pitch in the dirt...Asuaje takes off...McCann with a perfect throw, which beats the runner by three steps, but Correa just doesn't put the tag down and Asuaje safe on a wild pitch
Galvis strikes out swinging
1-1
-
Lance says no biggie. I’ll just strike him out now.
-
Boy, that was a terrible job on the tag by Correa. Encouraging to see McCullers work through it.
-
I thought I read where they were around $11,000...which is a $3,000 tax bill for the recipient, though I saw Brownie post that Crane paid that too.
WOW! That is some serious coin laid out by Mr Crane. What a wonderful job by him!

Seems kind of weird seeing Hosmer in a Padres uniform.
-
Traded Gattis for Fisher, now put one in the gap, George.

Yeah, let's call it $15,000 each...rumor is it was around 1,300 rings. That's almost $20MM on bling.
-
B4:
Gattis grounds up the middle...Asuaje snares it but has no play, as it looks like he tried to flip it to the SS...infield single for Gattis
McCann...full count...lines out to deep RF...hit it hard but right at 'em.
Fisher grounds into FC...Gattis out 4-6, but can't get the speedy Fisher
Springer ground out 6-3
1-1
-

There are different versions of the ring, some are more expensive and some are much less expensive. I'm trying to find the numbers, but I know I read it somewhere.
-
Perdomo looks like he throws a really hittable ball but we just keep missing it. 🤬

Sure feels like the Astros should have about 8 runs by now
-
That was pretty fucking weird. This has the feel of one of those odd games that you wind up losing even though it seems like you're far superior.
-
McCullers has not helped his cause tonight.
-
McCullers has not helped his cause tonight.
Not at all. I sure hope the Padres bullpen sucks.
-
Although this starter came in with an 11.95 ERA or something, and we can't do anything to him.
-

It does. But so does their starting pitchers, and the Astros have not been able to make hay.
-
Lance has elite stuff, but there is something missing.
-
Lance has elite stuff, but there is something missing.
50% of his pitches are elite, and 50% are crap.
-

Spangenberg 0-2...strikes out swining
Hedges...0-2...doubles to LF...his second hit of the season...on an 0-2 pitch

Pirela...3-0...3-1...3-2...doubles off the RCF wall...Hedges scores, Margot scores...Pirela caught between 2B and 3B...and is out...scores it 9-3-5
Hosmer ...0-2...chops one to 3B, but with the shift, Bregman cant' get it...another hit on 0-2
Villanueva singles up the middle on the first pitch...Hosmer to 2B

-
B5:
Bregman pops out F3
Altuve...works the count full...lines to CF...Margot with a diving catch
Correa pops out to shallow RF

Weird night. All of the hard-hit balls are outs, and the squibbers are hits.
-
T6:
Sipp in for the Astros
Asuaje...0-2...flies out F9 on a nice running grab by Reddick
Galvis doubles down the LF line
Spangenberg...full count...lines out to 2B
That's all for Sipp...McHugh in...
Hedges strikes out swinging
3-1
-
Alright, I'm switching to Shiner...let's bat for a while, boys!
-
I thought I read where they were around $11,000...which is a $3,000 tax bill for the recipient, though I saw Brownie post that Crane paid that too.
I remember when Crane was trying to buy the Rangers and there were stories around Dallas that he was not owner-material for the beloved local 9.
-
B6:
Jordan Lyles in for the Padres...
Reddick strikes out swinging
Marwin pops out F6
Gattis strikes out looking
3-1 Padres
-

Fuck the Arlington Rangers.
-
Our lineup looks pretty damn feeble today. The Greenland sized strike zone doesn't help, but Yuli can't return soon enough.

It would help if Marwin came out of hibernation.

One of those nites when everyone looks a little flat. It happens.
-
T7:
Margot rolls one to 2B...4-3
Pirela grounds one to 2B, but the shift...single
Hosmer grounds to 3B...Bregman to 2B to get Pirela, but the throw is at Correa's ankles, and his throw is high...Marwin drops his glove and ducks as it gets by him...score it a FC
Villanueva hit by pitch, Hosmer to 2B
Renfroe strikes out swinging
3-1 still
-
This has been a weird fucking game.
-
Very weird, but still in striking distance with three more turns. This group had a lot of games like this last year and ended up winning by three or more.
-
Yeah, let's call it $15,000 each...rumor is it was around 1,300 rings. That's almost $20MM on bling.
1,332 rings, to players, coaches, clubhouse and training staff, baseball and front office staff, medical staff, seasonal associates, Hall of Famers, owners and broadcasters. Four different tiers of rings, all looking similar but different materials.
-
Chin music.
-
B7:
McCann strikes out swinging
Fisher strikes out swinging
Springer lines back to the pitcher
3-1
-
Oh, fuck this game.
-

T8:
Asuaje pops out F5 on the first pitch
Galvis grounds to 3B..shift on...single
Spangenberg strikes out swinging
Hedges...full count...strikes out looking
3-1 Pads still
-
Ok, time to make some shit happen!
-
McHugh a bright spot in this otherwise dank effort.
-
McHugh a bright spot in this otherwise dank effort.
It's really interesting to have a bullpen where (at least) three different guys can go 2-3 innings. It really changes the way you think about attacking the game.
-
I'm running out of hope for this game.
-
B8:
Yates in for the Padres...2,3,4 due up for the Astros...time to make something happen!
Bregman flies out to shallow CF
Altuve strikes out looking
Correa strikes out swinging
3-1 Padres
-
Let's hope they're getting all of the suck out of their system tonight.
-
Due for a loss. Win 5, lose I. I am ok with that.
-

Yeah, it's hard to be real upset. But I'm not liking Giles's performances so far this year.
-
I didn't think it was physically possible but this game sucks AND blows.
-
T9:
Giles in for the Astros
Margot grounds out 4-3
Pirela grounds out 6-3
Hosmer lines one up the middle, and Springer lollygags it into a double
Villanueva doubles down the LF line, Hosmer scores...another 2-strike hit
Renfroe grounds up the middles...Altuve dives and stops it, throws from his knees, but can't nip the runner as Marwin is off the bag...Villanueva to 3B
Asuaje grounds out 4-3
4-1 Padres
-

You haven't met my shop-vac.

I am too. Tonight is one of those games where everything just seems out of whack. It happens.

Ringover?
-
Hand blew up yesterday. Hope it carries over.
-
Tell us how you really feel, Reddick.
-
Am I the only one sick of Giles? I just have zero confidence in him. If we don’t have a 2 run lead, you can’t bring him in.

I wouldn't say I'm sick of him, but I don't have a lot of confidence in him, either.
-
B9:
Hand in for the Padres...
Reddick...quickly down 0-2...strikes out swinging...yells "FUCK!"
Marwin...full count...walks
Gattis flies out F9 on the first pitch
Stassi, pinch hitting for McCann...quickly down 0-2...strikes out swinging
Astros go down, as the Padres pick up their second win on the season...4-1
-
Rat farts.
-
Let us never speak of this game again.
-
Well, that's a pretty disappointing showing. I expect more for my birthday tomorrow.
-
Well that sucked!!!

Padres pitched very well tonight. Good guys didn’t. Get em tomorrow.
-

You'd think 4 runs is surmountable with this lineup. They really miss Yuli.
-
Well, I had the bottom of the 9th all typed up, but it’s storming like a motherfucker and my satellite internet went out just as Stassi struck out hot end the game. Suffice it to say the Astros did not mount a comeback.
Gotta wipe this one off the books and go get ‘em tomorrow.

Yes Ty, they do. Hopefully it isn’t much longer.
