Fodder for the pyre:

I love the rationale for the prediction at the end.  That's some deep analysis right there.

These articles are cute.  I'm glad they play the games.

If you really want to suffer, take a look at the New York Post sports columns.

As soon as I finish hitting myself in the head with a hammer, i’ll do that.

I thought that too, but it’s not a crazy prediction by any means. Their bullpen alone is a pretty understandable reason to pick the Yankees.

Important to remember the better team does not always win. Last night demonstrated that principle yet again.

It could be a very close series.  It could be a blow-out by either team.  The Astros could own their bullpen.  Their bullpen could own the Astros.

I'm just happy to be here, and I hope to help the ball club.  I just want to give it my best shot. . . A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That seems more true in baseball than any other sport.

The best teams still lose more than 50 games a year.

Not gonna lie, the Yankees worry me a little bit.

A little bit.

I think our boys have a damn good club and I've watched enough baseball to know that the postseason is a crapshoot, but I like our chances. The Indians' bats went cold at the worst possible time, but Houston has a better - and deeper - lineup, IMO.

Who knows what will happen, but this team seems to thrive when people underestimate them and I'd prefer they go into the ALCS with the talking heads picking against them.

Im the immortal words of Hammerin' Hank Conger... "Fuck'em! Fuck everybody!"

The Yankees are a very good team that can score runs in bunches and have a scary good bullpen. It's going to be a tough series and I have a feeling that the last three or four innings of every game will be fraught.

It's what's going on right now (and forever) with the Yankmees.

Duh.

You ain't seen nothing yet...  I watch most TB games (when they win anyway) and see the goddamn fuckin' yanks a lot, they get talked up and their turds polished more than any team in baseball.  How anyone could call them are a fun team is a mystery to me.  Maybe not quite as loathesome with A Rod, Texiera and Jeter gone but still a bunch of knobs.

Except that when it rains in Houston it doesn't matter* because we have a roof.

They have a rookie gigantor who hits homers = fun.

We have a 5' infielder who hits everything = boring.

We've been doing it pretty regular.  Let's hope they cool off during the break.

Me too. We really can’t let them lead after five frames or the game might be over.

Let's not get carried away.  Getting up early is always preferable, and the NY bullpen is stout, but the Astros have gotten to them before, and if necessary, I like their chances of doing it again.

I’m not getting carried away. We all knew about Betances, Chapman and Robertson, but this Kahnle is pretty nasty too. I’m merely saying that it might be more difficult to come from behind. However, we’re a great fastball hitting team. Tanaka can be nasty, as he was against the Tribe. However, he was pretty ordinary most of the season. If you follow the simple rule that if the ball is at the knees, let it go, we should be alright..

I am encouraged that the Astros did not find Kimbrel overpowering. He's among the best, right?

Jeremy Affeldt was being interviewed on satellite radio.  When the host started talking about the Yankee staff bringing the 100 mph heat, Affeldt said "when you mention triple-digit fastballs, the Astros just start salivating".

Exactly.  I really love it when FB pitchers try to simply overpower this team.  Guriel is really fun to watch in that case.

This Yankee team is a different team than the regular season team we played.

Yuli's swing is great to watch. One of the side effects of full-time youth baseball is that everybody's swing looks similar. Yuli, from a different baseball upbringing has an unorthodox swing that looks a little like the hammer throw in field events. He swings from his torso and whips the bat around with impressive speed.

And, of course, YDGD.

If I were to buy a jersey right now, it would probably be # 10.

If I were searhing for a new hair do however, it would definately not be like Yuli's!

You can't overpower supreme fastball hitters with a supreme fastball.  Both Altuve and Correa got solid wood on Chapman (NTTAWWT).
