I listened to the XM broadcast of Game Two on my drive home. They are deep and good but are living a charmed life. Whatever needs to happen, happens. Surely it cannot last much longer.

witches.
They are witches.

Could be. In the 6th down 8-3 with two out and one on, the next three hitters were down 0-2: double, HBP, grand slam off the pole

I did not see the game but one silver lining takeaway is Kluber may be human.

One thing is for sure: as each day in the playoffs passes, the air gets thinner. If the Astros manage to win one more against Boston and Cle does the same with NY, lookout cuz it's gonna be a freaking battle not for the faint of heart.
First things first however. I'm just hoping the Astros give it their best shot and the good Lord willing things will work out.

Just saw the "hit by pitch". Girardi should be fired for not challenging that. It would have ended the inning, and may have cost them the season.

I did not see it. What happened?

Pitch grazed the knob of the bat, catcher caught it. Should have been a K, inning over. Ump calls HBP, Sanchez, the catcher is yelling "FOUL" at the dugout, Girardi is frozen. "By the time we got the slo-mo confirmation, it was already too late to challenge it" was his excuse today.
2 batters later, iirc, grand slam.

Well I'm sure the NY media will let bygones be bygones and allow Giardi to manage in peace.

2 pitches later.
Well that's certainly worse.

So many things here. What better time to use a challenge with that lead (end an inning/ squelch a really)? Why didn't the catcher go to the mound to buy time for the 'braintrust' to review it further, especially since he believed from the beginning it was a foul?

You still only have 30 seconds to challenge. It's not like football. You don't have until the next pitch.
Still, that was a inexcusable screwup.

Quite a game in the Bronx.
Guess we'll start at noon tmw.

Here's to a Yankees win and a 27-inning game 5.
-
Yanks up 7-3 in the 6th.
-
Yanks still up 7-3 going to the 9th..
-
And there will be a game 5! Yanks win 7-3.
-
If Girardi had challenged the HBP, the series would be over.
