Gomez has a spot reserved in the worst Astros in history wall of shame.

At the game just behind Astros dugout. Gomez is such a bitch. I hate that I ever rooted for the guy

I know everybody will find this hard to believe, but Fisher struck out earlier.

Agree. I supported him as an Astro despite his antics and his abysmal play. Since the separation, he has proved he has a pinky sized dick.

No matter what happened in that AB, he went in knowing he was gonna start shit. Staring out after every pitch. Fuck him

I never liked Gomez. Sure I wanted him to do well when he wore the Astros uniform but he has always been a piece of crap.
-
Rangers broadcast inadvertently hit the nail on the head. They were talking about Beltran being a Skokie veteran leader, something the Astros didn't have until now with him/Josh/McCann.
No shit. Gomez proved anything but a leader.
-
I know everybody will find this hard to believe, but Fisher struck out earlier.
At this point, I'd rather see White on the post season roster.
-
No shit. Gomez proved anything but a leader.
Odor seems to follow his lead quite well.
-
Odor seems to follow his lead quite well.
Those 2 deserve each other. I hope they both have toe fungus
-
Crap, Correa, that has to be the sorriest attempt at catching a ball I've seen this side of T-ball. It was shitty throw from Gattis, but that's no excuse for that pathetic effort.
And, of course, it leads to a run.
And now Gattis can't stop strike three and can't track down the ball in time get Gomez at first, extending the inning for Odor. Just painful to watch.
-
Gattis is terrible.
-
Gattis is terrible.
"We even got guy behind the plate with one tool"
-
Fuck
-
This is amateur hour out here
-
You're fucking kidding me. Now White drops a perfectly routine pop-up.
-
Jesus fucking Christ. Colin had to get about 5 or 6 outs that inning

R. Chirinos: Foul, Ball, Chirinos flied out to left
End of three, Astros down 2-0
-
Of note - Chirino's "foul" was fully in Tyler White's glove before popping out
-
Bases loaded for Springer with two outs. Come on, George, make 'em pay.
-
Suck it, Andrus.
-
How about that!
-
That was an admirably restrained AB by Altuve with the bases loaded.
-
What happened? Did the Astros score?
-
Two outs, bases loaded... a 3-2 walk from Altuve is NOT what I expected.

This Fucking ump thinks the plate extends to the 1st base dugout.

Boy, I don't care what anyone says, this is one good looking crowd. The beautiful people are out in force tonight.

This is some of the sorriest defense I've seen in a major-league game. Both teams are giving a fugly effort.
-
Boy, I don't care what anyone says, this is one good looking crowd. The beautiful people are out in force tonight.
with Cowboys playing I'm surprised there are more than 16 people there.
-
The Astros lead 4-2 on a combination of shitty pitching and fielding by the Rangers.
-
So at the moment, the Astros lead 4-2, and Marwin is up with the bases loaded and two outs.
-
Banny going out to eat his pitcher.
-
And Marwin hits a worm-burner up the middle on one of the funkiest swings you'll see in a while, it goes through, and two more runners score.
That's the end of the line for Cashner, some other schlub is coming in.
-
The rangers said "oh yeah, you thought that was shitty baseball? Watch this. "

So I wonder if Pettis has a "go" sign that looks like a "stop" sign. Marwin doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would run through a "stop" sign quite so blatantly.

Is it too much to ask for McHugh to throw up a zero here?

I’d like to say that was one of his worst...but...
You hear the excitement in his voice as he anticipates the HR call, then the camera pans and you see the left fielder camped out 40 feet away from the wall.
-
I usually am embarrassed when the home fans get excited about routine fly balls.
Having seen only 2 Astros games with their announcers this year, I can't imagine how I'd feel about Kalas from the way you guys describe him.
-
Feels like a blue star play, but I’d lean towards giving it to White.

That play was absolutely incredible from both correa and white

i.e. not every hbp is an automatic ejection after a warning

Only one team has anything to play for.

You are certainly right but it seems ridiculous to me that there was a warning simply because a Gomez freak out that had nothing to do with any pitch, the effect of the warning is that mchugh can't pitch inside as freely and then their asshole actually hits one of the Astros best players and there's no repercussion.

Yep. Knee jerk reaction from HPU.
Same thing happened in the last series in Arlington, resulting in AJ and Dickhead arguing with the latter being tossed.
You're absolutely right. Affects the game unnecessarily.

Nice night for Hoyt, Sipp, and Clippard.
-
The HPU can eject a pitcher for throwing at a batter whenever he deems it necessary so this warning the benches bit seems to me to be superfluously theatrical.
In a case such as today's with a known fuckwit like Gomez and no pitches of any intent from McHugh I think the correct move is for the umpire to tell Gomez to shut the fuck up and get back in the box and move on with the game.

I hope there is no lingering effects here. And Correa is really struggling. *Carlos Correa was 0x5 and is hitting .222/.282/.306 in September as he works to regain his form after missing significant time during the season. His .588 September OPS is the worst of his young career.

This all brought a smile to me: the crowd, the caption, the Keuchel quote, the incoherent Gomez meltdown and of course, the looming elimination. Warms my heart to see that franchise that way.
