Apropos of nothing, I can only hear "Roark" in Matthew McConaughey's accent from "A Time to Kill".

Ro-ark
-
Fisher singles home Beltran on the pitch after an uncalled strike 3 from Roark. 2-0 Astros. 1st run on Springer single, stolen base, Reddick single.
-
Wow...missed opportunity on a perfect double play ball.

Yeah, a good throw gets him.

Yeah, a good throw gets him.
Inning should be over now. Oh well...gotta pick em up
-

And the next pitch is a 2-run triple. Shitfuck.
-
2 run triple by Kendrick scores 2
-
Not making a sure DP
-
Another pitcher's failure to post a zero after the offense scores. Not a good inning from Morton, starting with, you guessed it, a walk on 11 pitches.
-
No error, but another two runs that don't score if you make the routine plays.

Right, the low throw from Altuve to Gurriel did cost two runs. But that leadoff walk was frustrating.
-
Those 2 strike calls on Yuli were wayyy inside
-
Wow. This ump's strike zone would make Eric Gregg shake his head.
-
Eight pitches to Yuli. One o we the plate, and it was ball four. Incredible.
-
Yuli walks despite Tim Timmons best efforts. Bases juiced for Marwin w one out

You're going to make them wear more wristbands.

Geez...has Tim Timmons ever seen a baseball game before?
-
how does Marwin not even put the ball in play there?!
-
Thud.
-
how does Marwin not even put the ball in play there?!
Swinging at sliders in the dirt.
-
And they leave them loaded.
-

He saw three pretty filthy breaking balls. Expanded his zone on the fastball off the plate though.
-
A zero, please, Mr. Morton.
-
Tough when a fastball down the middle is called a ball.
-
Gameday's pitch locator suggests HPU looked directly at the sun yesterday.
-
2-out exrtra base hits are not a recipe for success.

Gameday's pitch locator suggests HPU looked directly at the sun yesterday.
This may be the worst strike zone I've ever seen in a baseball game.
-
And more fat pitches don't help. 4-3
-
Way to protect your lead

It's tough when a ball down the middle is hit 500 feet too
-
Good grief, Charlie.
-
Unbelievably frustrating.
-

Excellent point.
-
We don't look much like a team almost 30 over. Morton cannot stand prosperity.
-
Fisher takes so fucking many pitches right down the middle. Shit.
-
Will someone please fucking tell our guys they are allowed to swing at fastballs down the fucking middle of the plate!!
-
Fisher takes so fucking many pitches right down the middle. Shit.
He's a strikeout factory.
-
He's a strikeout factory.
He'd have 2 looking if Timmons hadn't gifted him an extra pitch in his 1st at bat.
-
Springer should have caught that one.
-
He's a strikeout factory.
I really hate to be that guy, but I would like to see a higher contact hitter like Kemp (or even someone like Aoki. Doh).
-
Springer should have caught that one.
Off the bat I thought it was in the air a long time. Not a good jump but a tough play.

I like Fisher, and think he'll be a good hitter. But he's not now. He's a weak link
-

Tough play, for sure, but it hit the heel of his glove.
-
The Astros sure are late on a lot of 87 mph pitches.
-
Man, Roark has carved up Marwin on those breaking balls.

Struck him out all 3 times.
-
Two out, two run triple
Two out, two run homer
We don't score with bases loaded, one out
The game so far
-
I see no reason Davis should ever pinch hit for anyone.

Showcasing.

Showcasing.
And of course Davis lines a pinch hit single.
-
Wouldn't mind seeing some of that old 7th inning magic here.

So the Verlander deal is back on?

Even up
-
Horrible at bat by Bregman.
-
Fuck. These potential big innings end way to quickly.
-
Damn. The radio guys made it sound like altuve's ball had a chance of being a hit. True?

Yes, but the check swing call was horseshit.

Only if Hunter Pence was in CF.

Since July 24th, Altuve has driven in a total of 8 runs, 4 of them on solo home runs.

He went nearly all the way around.
-
Marwin needs to redeem his night here.
-
Bunting?
-
2B and 3B with one out...
-
IBB loads the bags for Stassi...
-
Extreme groundball pitcher on the mound...
-
Stassi missing good pitches to hit...
-
Easy 5-4-3 double play
-
I want to cry now
-
Hate, hate, hate that we bunted. Taking the bag out of MARWIN and Beltran's hands to give it to Stassi doesn't make sense.

Agreed 100%. Very poor strategy there.

I want to scream. So many wasted chances to have a big inning.

Agree
-
Dammit.
-
How many 2-out hits is that now?
-
Agreed 100%. Very poor strategy there.
Makes no sense with who we had coming up after Beltran.
-
Kirk Hammett has two hits tonight
-
Ready to see a homerun by one of the good guys. Preferably of the walk off variety.
-
Makes no sense with who we had coming up after Beltran.
"We'll trade you an out and a double play situation for a chance to send Max Stassi to the plate..."
-
Davis completely overmatched. Never stood a chance.
-
Wow. Can you say overmatched?
-
Need a base runner. One out left...
-
Poor pitching, poor hitting, poor managing...hard to overcome.

Yeah it's hard to pin it on one thing, but Morton giving up the 2 out double and home run immediately after regaining the lead was probably the worst.
-
And lest we forget the botched double play by Altuve that led to 2 runs so you can add defense to the list too
-

Of course. Dickstepping up and down he line though.
-
Bummer.
Really appreciate the pbp fellas!
Sometimes life is good, sometimes bad. But sometimes life takes a 2x4 and smacks you right in the nuts. I unfortunately am having to deal with option 3 these past few weeks and baseball has had to not only take a back seat but exit the car... I hope to join you all for some more winning soon. Hug the ones you love tonight!

Frankly, with one out and down by one run, I would have considered squeezing there. At least it probably wouldn't be a double play.

Sorry to hear that, hope things are better soon and you are back here with us!
-
Since July 28th, the Astros are 8-15. The Angels are 15-7. At the current rate, the Angels will take the division lead around September 20th.
-

This. They turn their DP; we don't turn ours. Both were routine.
