My name is Jim Raup, and I am an Astroholic. The first thing I do each morning, after walking Bowie and getting coffee, is check the Trade Deadline thread to see if Detroit has come to its senses. Then I read the entire GZ if I was not on it the night before. Finally, I read the stories and watch the highlights on At Bat. Dan died, Jerry is a Rangers fan, and Mark's schedule often is too busy so I have no one here with whom I can talk baseball to the extent I want. I get some of what is missing from my life filled in here, and for your part of that, I thank you. There is no cure for my addiction, and I do not want one.
-
I'm glad you walk Bowie first. He's a good dog.

He is a great dog.

At least you have your priorities right. :)
I don't think I am in as deep to the addiction as you, but I'm pretty far gone also.
I was thinking about AA meetings yesterday. The Red Lion Pub has $2 Taco Tuesday and I thought it would be a great place for an AA meeting. Especially since I think the tacos are good.

I have had longer to develop it.

Hiiiiiii Jim

I think I may be in denial. I skip "at bat" but study every Astro affiliate milb box score. And all before breakfast or walking the dog.
Am I addicted?

Yup. Welcome.

Checking MiL box scores of affiliate teams is most definitely a sign of being in pretty deep.

I slept in my Altuve jersey T shirt last night because I did it the night before and the Astros won 2 in a row.
I check OWA multiple times a day (sometimes multiple times an hour).
My son gives me all the Astros cards he gets from his Topps collection.
I still have my orange AND blue plastic Astros batting helmets from my childhood.
I'm addicted too. And I don't want to quit.
-
I'm so addicted I flew to Houston to see my family and I'm making them go to at least 1 game while I'm here. Saturday for sure...maybe Sunday.
-
better than knitting that is for sure. the addiction keeps me from being a crazy cat lady. I am just a crazy Astros lady.
-
I've been addicted since the mid 70's.
-
Ha. I look at your "addiction" as a heroin addict looks at a teenager taking his first hit off a joint.
DO NOT START FOLLOWING THE ASTROS TWITTERVERSE!!!!!

I'm still striking out but I did run across breedlove in my brief Astros twitter search, speaking of long lost TZ legends.

Objection, Alkie WAS Rebel Jew.
Ah, yes, there were a few name changes around the same time (Pravata-->Ferret, Alkie-->Rebel Jew, Forget-->Dark Star) and I did not keep them straight. For some reason, I thought Rebel Jew was Taras Bulbas.
-
Rebel Jew was Joey Trum
-
And Alkie, it turns out, was a group of teenage Macedonians.

That's it! Could not properly access that data on the organic hard drive...

Add Prince of Heck to that list.

No. Allie and Rebel Jew are two different people.

You need to be around more these days. Have you completely converted to an Indian fan?
-
No one wants HD? Or Noe? Or more importantly Kev & Scott?
-
those are all familiar names. where would this site be without the last two
-
Yes, Joey was Rebel Jew. Can't really fake that style of blithering nonsense.
-

I've let you guys do the heavy lifting this season. However, let my make myself perfectly clear, while we watch a lot of Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers baseball, my team is the Houston Astros!

Is he the one who faded out after moving to Korea? Or maybe I'm getting him confused with the guy who already lived in Korea.

I lost my fastball several years back. Had to hang it up. Full props to those of you who can keep chuckin' it in there at 95 mph. Love seeing the team do well, and the GZ is a life saver having cut the cord.
Let's rip off about 10 wins in a row, get healthy, and tear the rest of MLB a new asshole
-
Trum did the inevitable SF -> Oakland -> somewhere else migration. If I recall correctly he ended up in Sebastopol.
I never had any idea he annoyed Biz so much but needless to say one's heart grows ever fonder.
I think the guy who left for Korea was named Matt. And Matt, if you're reading, I don't know, might be a good time to think about coming back.

He was always nice to me.
Rascal is also missing.

I met Joey in SF before a Giants game. He was a friendly guy.
-
As most of you know, I watched a game with HD in Houston. Weird and intense guy, but nice.

I've hung out with Joey a few times. Great guy and I always enjoyed his posts, especially the feud with Biz which I thought was good-natured and entertaining on both sides.

How about Ray K? Don't remember anything about him except the name.
I miss Taras Bulba. If you are out there, I hope that you are well.

Pretty sure he's still arguing about the necessity of the infield fly rule. Somewhere.

Pretty sure he's still arguing about the necessity of the infield fly rule. Somewhere.
The funniest thing about Ray was that he considered himself just an old-school, country hardball kind of guy. Except the part about the infield fly rule...and not understanding why you'd need a cutoff man...

Still around. I usually just peak over the fence ever now and then.

Joey made it to an AA meeting a number of years ago that I was lucky enough to be able to attend. I believe JackAstro, Noe, Austro, Houston, the Raups and 1 or 2 others were there.
-
The couple of AA meetings I got to attend were a blast.
Still think the only HA meeting I've been to (outside of opening days) was during the World Series at Roeder's.
-
Roeder's.
RIP
-
We could still have an HA meeting. There was talk about meeting at Kenneally's and Red Lion runs some good daily specials also ($5 burger Mondays, $2 Taco Tuesdays).
-
This is missing legends, not legendary dumbassery.
Yes. I showed up about then and stayed anyway.
-
Too much time on my hands so I looked a couple of these up. I realize that I have missed Dobro and his (famous?) last words:
Did your mother put douche water in your bottle?

Joey was/is a pretty cool guy, even if he's a little out there on some things.

I'm pretty sure Dobro was working through some actual roid rage issues, if I recall correctly.

His most memorable feature for me is that his avatar was an unflattering picture of Teresa Heinz, but that may be because I refrained from reading the "Palin...WTF???" thread.

I honestly don't remember what this was in reference to, but I will assume the answer was "no."

I honestly don't remember what this was in reference to, but I will assume I was so damn right. My only memory of Durango, CO was some cunt in a Pizza Hut parking lot yelling at me and my dad because we had Texas license plates. We walk in to get a table and guess who is putting on an apron and a name tag? That's right, my dad. Haven't spoken to him since that night.
Anyway, good luck everyone. See you in 12-15 years.

Pizza Hut. Was Chili's closed?

Pizza Hut. Was Chili's closed?
I was 12. We were camping and didn't feel like cleaning up a fire cooked meal, so we went to the Pizza Hut on the edge of town. As you're aware, it was the last time I've been inside a Pizza Hut.
