Fisher in Center? Really?

Fisher in Center? Really?
He's played there 4 times as much as he has in LF for Fresno this year, hopefully he doesn't make things too interesting out there.
-
How did Jake piss off AJ?
-

But is he any good at it? He runs like a left-fielder.
-
Didn't Hunter Pence play a lot of CF in his minor league days?

RHer on the mound.

We're about to find out. Unless Morton has the gb/k combo going.
-
Hinch says Fisher could be up for "two days, or the rest of his career."
No pressure, kid.

Judging by T1, it didn't work.
-
Whew, Fisher made that interesting.
-
0-0 thru 1.
-
For those that missed that last out of the 1st

This umpire is dognuts so far.
-
Better ABs top 2. But three liners lead to 3 quick outs.
-
Looks like he's at least equal opportunity dognuts.
-
2 innings, 2 inning ending, run saving catches from Fisher. 0-0
-
Bregman showing signs of having arrived the past couple weeks.
-
Bregman lead off triple followed by an Atkins sac fly. 1-0 mid 3.
-
Bregman leaves the game with an injury.

Bregman leaves the game with an injury.
Goddammit! What's the injury?
-
Un fucking real.
-
Goddammit! What's the injury?
Don't know yet. Hunch getting the low down from trainer.
-
Morton at 50 pitches through 3.
-
Who's playing SS at Fresno?
-
These last four injuries have (seemingly) happened for no damn reason:
Carlos swings a bat and tears a thumb up
Moran fouls a ball off his face, something I've never seen in 50+ years of watching baseball.
Springer just turns around in the outfield and strains a quad.
Now Bregman....perhaps sliding into third?
-
Bregman with a hamstring injury stretching that triple. Day to day.

Correa damaged his thumb on that ridiculous attempt to score from 2B on a groundout with a 7- run lead.

I realize that, but the extent of the damage didn't manifest until the swing.

Right. Just correcting the perception that it was some bizarre freak injury.
-
Who's playing SS at Fresno?
Reid Brignac. Or Tyler White if you're into comedy.
-
I'd imagine that *if Bregman misses any significant time Marwin takes over short, Yuli 3rd, and maybe Reed gets another crack at 1st? Is there someone I'm missing? Or does JD Davis make the leap?
-
Nice, efficient seven pitch inning for Morton.

Probably depends on who gets hurt next.

You want Marwin, Altuve and Gurriel to have to play every inning of every game? They'll need another infielder, one who can play SS.

They just DFA'd Ashur Tolliver, so there's a spot on the 40 for a trade or promotion.
-
Double by Altuve, passed ball and Reddick with an RBI single makes it 2-0 Astros.
-
I'm digging the guy whistling Christmas tunes.

Well that's a pretty shitty situation then. I hope it's "day-to-day" for Bregman.
-
Double steal! Nice! Let's capitalize...

For now, I'm thankful it wasn't a torn ligament given the circumstance.

And Fisher does just that!

And the replacement for the replacement does just that. Whadda system!

Is that the UT kid behind the plate for Philly?

Rupp? He's a great guy.

There are slim pickings at Fresno and Corpus for a ready for MLB shortstop. If it were like the NBA they could sign Jhonny Peralta to a 10 day contract.

Never met him. He's a big boy too.

But he must be pretty shitty now, he's been cut by St Louis and Boston this year.

I'll bet Keuchel is thrilled to see the recent make-over of the left side of the infield.

It's pretty premature to say that Bregman might be out for any lengthy amount of time but.... if he is, what's the price for Zach Cozart in Cincy? By the time Correa returns rosters will have expanded and he'd be a pretty killer bench option for the playoffs. Cozart is a rental and I haven't seen much chatter (demand) on his services this year.
Just speculating... the rash of injuries has become concerning.
-

I won't go full Chuck, but he could put down some wings and beers a couple of years ago.
They needed those 7 out of Morton, that was some veteran pitching.
-
Man, Morton looked *tough* the last couple of innings. Who had him making it through 7, especially when he was at 55 pitches or whatever in the 3rd?
-
Sipp in to try to cut into the lead.
-
This:

happened today.

I assume somebody is warming up.
-
Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh...
-
I like that Hinch is getting Martes in to increasingly more difficult situations. I'm looking forward to see how he does here.

The radio guys said on the broadcast today that Morton is one of the bigger workout warriors on the team and likes to throw it around in the weight room, which was more than mildly surprising. If I were forced to rank the Astros based on lifting prowess, Morton would likely have fallen somewhere between McHugh and Aoki in the bottom 5 on the 25.

Martes's 99 mph fastball off the backstop was vintage Nuke LaLoosh.

Strike 3 on Kendrick was a wiffle ball.
Nice job by Martes!
-
I love Martes' scowl on the mound. He looks like he is pissed off the whole time.

Martes looks like he could lift a few pounds but my money is on Gattis for the top spot.

He'll win the lumberjack competition, too.

Gattis just stares at weights until they lift themselves.

Huh? What did I do? I do not discriminate on the basis of weight or menu. For example, I have been to Spanish Flowers with you cuellos many times.
-
Nice shutout.
-
Good win. I hope Bregman is ok.

I think it was more a reference to one of your stories like "I was once drinking gin in a bar in Mombasa with a 6-ft blonde who claimed to be the queen of Sweden..."

I just meant I wasn't going to write a treatise on the subject.

Didn't have the Pulenta at the local Twin Lics, I was too lazy to drive the mile across town to Specs during the 7PM "traffic". Settled for WL Wellers for now.
-

Ok. I was going to share my fascinating insights on the culinary wonders of the greater Allegheny County area but I guess you'll just have to learn which Monroeville eatery is the local go-to for breakfast idli else-where.

Shit, I'd just stop at the gas station and ask.

Right? A couple of people up there had the nerve to say I talk funny.

I think showcasing him in CF is very possible. The As want one.

Burn all of the tapes of Teo in CF.

And just as you said that Cozart left the game with an injured quad. (http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/mlb/reds/2017/07/26/cozarts-quad-injury-comes-inopportune-time-reds/511438001/)

That was my first thought when I saw Fisher in CF. Beane was quoted yesterday: "I'm looking for a major-league-ready center fielder".
It was also predictable that twitter would blow up with "he's been traded" tweets when Bregman left the game.
-
Gattis just stares at weights until they lift themselves.
Should be nominated for something.

I doubt we would panic and trade for a SS.

Maybe after we've added two high quality bullpen arms, a frontline starter and Correa's thumb actually falls off.

I was only speculating. HH pointed out how precariously thin we are at SS after Bregman. If he were to miss significant time I wouldn't want to see Brignac up....
