Any word on how long a delay we're looking at? The info at NOAA makes it look like there might be issues for a while.

7:00 start time supposedly.

MLB App sent me the "about to start" alert seconds ago, which is generally about 15 min before first pitch.

Under way!

T1:
Springer lines out to SS
Altuve singles to LF
Reddick flies out F7
Gurriel strikes out looking
No score
-
Regardless of how tonight goes, I'm happy to see McHugh back on my TV.
-
B1:
Jones pops out F4
Machado...full count...walks
Schoop...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Davis lines to CF...Marisnick sort of runs in a circle, moving back, then has to come in and it eats him up, bouncing off his glove. Machado to 3B. Scored a single, but it's catch he makes 99% of the time
Trumbo strikes out swinging
No score
-
That ball was knuckling pretty good on Jake.
-
T2:
Gattis singles to CF on a broken bat looper
Beltran...full count...strikes out swinging, Gattis on the move, thrown out 2-6 jogging to 2B, sliding three feet short of the bag
Bregman hit by pitch
Moran singles to CF, Bregman to 3B
Marisnick flies out F8
Astros get two hits and a HBP, but with the double play can't punch a run across. No score
-

Yeah, big swing, off the end of the bat. Still, it's a play Jake normally makes.
-
B2:
Mancini flies out F8
Smith...0-2...hit by pitch
Castillo...0-2...strikes out swinging
Tejada flies out F9
No score
-
Sadly I'm watching this game from my hotel room in Baltimore

Springer...0-2...1-2...2-2...lines to 3B...diving catch by Machado laying out horizontal...second ball blistered by Springer right at someone
Altuve grounds out 6-3

No score

There's still time...

I'm still trying to figure out how, after you had the first one, you decided it would be a great idea to have seven more. The only thing I thought might be a great idea after one was getting my nuts cut off.

If they all fall asleep, you should make your move and buy a cheap ticket.

...and get there just in time for the next rain delay!
-
Damn, Tillman is a human rain delay on the mound.
-
Tillman has put a lot of pitches in the happy zone tonight and Bregman is the only one who's really done anything with one (Springer gets a pass on those liners, I guess).

I've seen quite a few hard hit balls tonight. Almost all of them right at someone.
-
T5:
Bregman homers to LCF on the first pitch
Moran...3-0...3-1...full count...grounds out 4-3
Marisnick...full count...strikes out swinging
Springer...full count...strikes out swinging at a pitch three feet outside
1-0 Astros
-
8?!
Plus or minus.
-
2-out home run makes it 2-1 Orioles as the rain starts to fall.
-
Single and another lazer home run, and McHugh has given up four runs on the last three pitches...4-1 O's...and that's all for McHugh
-
Well that escalated quickly

They jumped up a notch.

Other than the last 4 or 5 pitches, I thought McHugh did pretty well.

Davis...full count...strikes out looking
But the wheels fall off for McHugh...4-1 O's

Cabrera escalated.
McHugh did well tonight regardless if the offense shows up or not.
-
Other than the last 4 or 5 pitched, I thought McHugh did pretty well.
He made two bad pitches all night, and they cost him four runs. The leadoff walk to the 7 hitter which turned the lineup over didn't help though.

Quickly, I'm afraid.

The offense is lollygagging

Pretty much right when the rain started, though I imagine he was tiring too. I think 76 pitches was the most he threw in rehab.

Back to back doubles...Gurriel with an RBI...4-2

That looked like a home run, but I'm not familiar with the ground rules

Back to back doubles...Gurriel with an RBI...4-2
When Gurriel's ball came off the bat I had no idea he hit it that hard. Kept looking down the line in the corner then looked at the fielder then looked up. He smoked that.

Double overturned for a home run...La Pina!!!...4-3

He basically just threw his hands at it. Great swing.

But the umps are...HR Yuli. Hell yes.
-
Yuli needs to speed his home run trot up. I mean, I don't know how they do it in Cuba...
-
Back to back singles...Astros with two on, one out...
-
This really sucks for Moran.

Moran fouls a pitch off his eye socket...blood everywhere...still down...
-
Fuck, This is bad news for Moran.

-
Moran will have to be taken off on a cart
-
I've never seen that before.
-
That's scary stuff. Here's hoping x-rays are negative and vision is unaffected.
-
Moran's in bad shape...he can't even stand up...hopefully he's ok, but definitely to the DL
-
Let's hope it's "bell rung" and swelling.

But for practical effects... shit, who comes up? White?

It appeared to hit the cheekbone below the eye. It seems to have missed the eye itself; I certainly hope so.

Late to the party... I did a rewind to see what happened to Moran (it's very not good).
Way to pick up the team Marwin.
My toughts are for Moran right now.

T6:
Altuve grounds out 5-3
Reddick...3-0...3-1...rulebook double to LCF
Gurriel...0-2...1-2...doubles off the top of the RF wall, Reddick scores...home run review...hard to tell...overturned!...Home Run!
That chases Tillman, O'Day in
Gattis singles to LF on the first pitch
Beltran singles to LF on the first pitch, Gattis to 2B
Bregman...quickly 0-2...1-2...2-2...full count...strikes out looking
Moran...fouls the first pitch off his face...bleeding profusely...gonna have to come out...Marwin will come in as a pinch hitter...battling...homers to RF! Gattis scores, Beltran scores
Marisnick...0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging
But the Astros vaunt a little...lead 6-4
-
Called it. My mother can verify.
-
That was a ridiculously great AB by Marwin. Wow.
-
I remember the first HR derby held at Camden. Berman mumbled, bumbled, and stumbled some shit about Griffey going "off the warehouse."

after about the 4th or 5th pitch I called it too. no one to verify.

What a weapon Marwin is. Like the Great Bill Spiers with a good back.
What position does he play? Baseball, that's what position.
-
I felt it in my loins. No one to verify.

I drank some Opus One last night, and I'm sipping on some Alexander Valley Vineyards Cab tonight. The price point is much further apart than the enjoyment.

Givens in for the O's
Springer bloops a singles to LF off the fists as he falls to his knees
Altuve...down 0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging through a meatball right down the middle

Gurriel...quickly 0-2...strikes out swinging
Gattis pops out F5 in foul territory
Astros leave pair, but lead 6-4 at the stretch

As good as Yuli has been recently and including tonight... he looked like a pitcher in that AB.
-

I love a good Mendoza Malbec, but they can be really hit-and-miss. Hopefully Specs carries that around here.
-

Givens gave him some sharp cheddar. But Yuli don't give a damn.

They carry the Pulenta. It's always been good.

Jones flies out F9
Machado...full count...pops out F4
6-4 Astros

"Oh, by the way, I have a heater" Blum after a 99mph fb by Martes. Made me chuckle.
-
"Oh, by the way, I have a heater" Blum after a 99mph fb by Martes. Made me chuckle.
A yakker at the knees to even the count, then a 99-mph cap spinner, and Machado stood no chance after that.
-

The 90 mph change up on 2-0 to Machado set that up nicely.
-
home plate ump has completely lost his marbles
-
T8:
Hart takes the pearl for the Orioles
Beltran, batting from the Port Arthur side...grounds in the hole at SS...Tejada fields it in shallow LF...takes his time, counts the laces, smokes a cigarette, then easily throws out Beltran
Bregman...3-0...3-1 on a fastball at the ankles...3-2 on a fastball that nearly hits him in the shin...grounds out 5-3...ump took the bat right out of his hands
Marwin...0-2...1-2...2-2...full up...doubles to RCF
Marisnick...2-0...grounds out 6-3
6-4 Astros

Nobody was. He did not warm up in the pen, only his tosses off the mound.
-
Martes appears to be saying "hey, I'm that impact reliever you're looking for".
-
B8:
Gregerson...who did not warm up in the pen...on to pitch
Schoop pops out F5
Davis...0-2...strikes out swinging on a bouncing slider
Trumbo strikes out looking...carved up
Great job by LG...Astros lead 6-4 headed to the 9th
-
I'd like to see Springer take a bag here
-
Altuve has missed some serious meatballs tonight
-
Astros with two on, nobody out...
-
Bases juiced...one out for Gattis...
-
Gattis with an RBI single...7-4...bases still juiced
-
Musgrove warming up in the case of a big inning.
-
Beltran with a sac fly...8-4
-
T9:
Brach in
Springer singles to CF
Altuve...0-2...singles to CF, Springer to 2B
Reddick lines out to deep LCF on the first pitch
Gurriel grounds to 3B, Machado drops it on the transfer...E5, Springer to 3B, Reddick to 2B
Gattis singles to LF, Springer scores, Altuve to 3B, Gurriel to 2B
Beltran sac fly to CF, Altuve scores
Bregman flies out F9
Astros with a couple more to make it 8-4, headed to the bottom of 9
-
I'd love to see Musgrove do well here. Who knows what his role could be this season...
-
B9:
Musgrove in to try to nail it down...
Mancini grounds out 6-3
Smith grounds out 3-1
Castillo...0-2...strikes out looking
Astros win!!!
-
This is where Musgrove needs to be: one or two innings at a time in relief.
-
Now THAT was good win...after being down, immediately with a big inning to retake the lead...tack on a few runs late, and OUTSTANDING work by the pen.
Pound the ol' Budweiser!
-
After last night's clusterfuck, the pen went 4.1 innings, 0 runs on 0 hits and only one BB
-
Any news on Moran?

I am a big fan of most any Alexander Valley wine. Now that I think about it I have a story that involves an Alexander Valley red, a lunatic and a white dress shirt that I'll perhaps relate at some point in the future. Anyway, yeah, big fan.
-
Martes appears to be saying "hey, I'm that impact reliever you're looking for".
Luhnow hinted at this on a Sunday pre-game interview a week or two ago. They kinda expected him to provide something different from the pen with his electric stuff down the stretch. I don't know that means they aren't still looking though.

If Martes and Musgrove can become reliable relief men, then the future looks a little brighter. They certainly looked the part last night, especially Martes. He saved the day.

I have trouble picturing Musgrove as an effective bullpen arm.
