Carlitos is not starting....

Those are some ugly socks.

Gameday says Fiers grooved that pitch.
1-0 Twins

So did my eyes.
-
It's Jake Day!
-
Marisnick comes through hansomely.
-
At least the fattest pitches have been thrown with no one on base.
-
I knew sending Fiers to the Home Run Derby would screw things up.
-
No such thing as over-vaunting. Fiers deserves some support here.
-
Fuckin' Aoki with a 2 run double!
-
Nori drops a crooked number on these guys! 3-2 Astros.
-
Those are some ugly socks.
The uglier the better when it comes to socks.
-
So many guys LoB the last two games, I get the feeling the dam is going to burst.
-
Altuve's smoked it twice for outs and has one hit on a slow, well-placed grounder.
ETA: I predict next AB will be infield hit or bomb.
-
One out in the sixth and he's thrown just 70 pitches? Who is this guy?

La Flama Blanca.

I don't understand...what's an Astro starting-pitcher doing pitching in the 7th inning?

The bullpen probably thinks the phone is broken.

I expect that from the team's ace.

An unexpected Dumbass Cove sighting

Hope he was escorted out.
-
Vargas dearly hoped that Altuve wasn't going to test him, and he was found lacking.

Fantastic manufactured run by Altuve. Ground rule double, steals third, takes home on a strikeout throw to first.

An inside-the-park-home-run over two ABs.

Well put.

Lost in all this is the Twins have pretty much shut down the Vaunted since the 8-spot on Friday. This will be a big win if we can hold on.
-
Interesting use of Devo. Perhaps thinking two inning save?

Harris is on the DL. Giles in the 9th surely.

Probably so, but I would have guessed Gregerson in the 8th.

When was his last save opportunity? Yankees?

Didn't he pitch yesterday.

MVP has been pretty quiet lately.
Fiers, the workhorse of the rotation, proves chuck's IIIrd Tenet of Good Pitching: solo home runs don't mean shit.

Quintana was lights out today.

Some strikes would be nice.

Goddamnit Giles!....always more excitement than necessary.
-
For someone who is fairly good at his job, Giles sucks.
-
Vive la shift!

How about the shift? Routine grounder to second

I only have the description on Gameday....probably should have assumed.

Also a double play grounder to short. I hate being a slave to it.
-
5-3 good guys win!
-
With no shift up 3, they do not score.
-
I just saw that Altuve play at the plate. He absolutely punked Jim N. Ez.

Reddick, another guy who's awfully quiet all of a sudden, was disgusted with himself after that strike out but crucially had the presence mind to haul his ass to first rather than stand there pouting like some guys would do.

This. He made the play. Lots of guys have gone quiet. Hope it breaks out again tomorrow.

Interesting that they don't hit at home like on the road.

Was flip-flopping him and Altuve a bad idea? I dunno.

It made plenty of sense in Atlanta.

No. Puts Altuve behind Springer. Reddick is fine.

Anyone who expects to succeed in the playoffs with Ken Giles as their closer will be disappointed.

Fuck off. Go find another team to bitch about.

Psssst. You may as well just get used to it. Bitch until you're blue in the face, they're still going to shift when the numbers say to.

I am used to it, but I do not have to like it.

Fiers: From May 30-yesterday he has made another nine starts with a completely different story. In his last nine starts he has thrown 54IP, 37H/15ER, 60K:20BB and 3HR allowed. Yesterday's start was the first time he had allowed multiple home runs since May 14.
