Title: MMP Gameday Experience
Post by: roadrunner on July 02, 2017, 01:35:41 pm
Obviously the success of the team has a lot to do with this, but I don't think the regular season atmosphere at the stadium has ever been this fun.  Fans are loud and engaged...all in a responsible/non-NFL manner.  I also was pro-Tal's Hill, but the Astros did an incredible job with the CF renovations.  Exceeded expectations.

All of that said - can we please get a new song after the Astros score a run?  No. 2 by Blur is an ok song but it feels like we've heard that song for like 10 years straight after each run.  Maybe change it up a little bit?

When I was at the game 3 weeks ago he was out walking the concourse. I think he's definitely a hands-on kind of guy.

The attendance should only increase if the winning continues. They need help getting fans in the ball park. My experience Thursday was horrible. I was looking for Ryan on the concourse.

One small but wonderful park addition is the little convenience store behind CF. There is never a line at that place.

My only game this year was also the most boring game of the year (the 3-0 loss to the Indians) and the atmosphere at MMP was still incredible.

Long lines trying to get in

What was horrible about it?

So, I'm in line for Thursday's game.  There are lines, as there are all the time now.  I see one where that there is no one in line (I don't know why no one is in it) so I put my unzipped purse in the little bin.  Look at the attendant who is talking to someone else.  Not paying attention to the person who just put a purse in the bin.  I look at the attendant who is on the other side of the metal detector and walk through.  No problem, except I have to go back to the first one who wasn't paying any attention.  He proceeds to pull some kind of power trip or something and made me open my wallet, show him my checkbook, I even had to show him the inside little pocket of the purse.  I've never had to do that.  Plus, there is a guy on the other side of the detectors telling him, "she doesn't have to do that."  And then he starts telling me that I don't know the rules and lecturing me about safety.

It may sound petty on my part, but mind you, that wasn't my first game, he wasn't doing his job.  He was being condescending to me and creating shit where there was none.  The ones working on the other side of the detector knew it.

So, I tweeted Reid that he needs to make sure the attendants know the procedures to make sure the lines, which are increasing in size, go faster.  I told him that I go to a lot of games and know what the rules for entry are.  And if that was for a first time visitor to the park it would have been a bad experience.

If that is what they are going to start doing, then do that process at every line, all the time.  I will adjust accordingly.

But, the length of time it is taking to get into the ballpark is getting pretty bad.

We showed up about an hour early for a Sunday afternoon game.  Took about 15 minutes to get in (CF gate, I think).
