2 outs in the top of the first so far, nobody on base.
-
Khris Davis takes strike three right on the knees but it's inexplicably called a ball. Then a walk.
2 on with 2 outs, both on walks.

Healy rolls 5-3 to end the inning. I can't do pbp currently, so somebody will have to pick it up for a few innings if it's needed.
-
T1:
Joyce grounds out 4-3
Barreto strikes out swinging
Lowrie walks
Davis walks
Healy grounds out 5-3
No score

I'll do what I can
-
Reddick robbed of a HR as Joyce leaps over the wall and snatches it from the first row.
-
B1:
Springer grounds out 5-3
Reddick...full up...hits a drive to deep right feel...Joyce leaps and reaches over the stands to rob a home run from the first row
Altuve hits a ball off the ground for a little looping liner right at 2B
No score
-

Reddick clearly choked on that swing.
-
Altuve chases more bad pitches than the rest of the lineup put together.

Sometimes I don't understand why he ever sees a strike
-
Peacock with his third walk in the first seven batters. This was his issue last time out
-

Olson flies out F9
Phegley walks
Brugman strikes out swinging
Rosales strikes out swinging
0-0
-
B2:
Correa grounds out 6-3 on the first pitch
Beltran flies out F8
Gattis grounds out 6-3
Scoreless through two
-
Astros doing a bang up job trying to pull outside pitches so far today.
-
T3:
Joyce...3-2...strikes out swinging
Barreto...3-0...3-1...walks
Lowrie flies out F8 at the wall in LCF
Davis strikes out swinging
0-0
-
Bregman got robbed.
-
B3:
Marwin grounds out 4-3
Bregman lines out to 3B
Marisnick taps in front of the plate, out 2-3
No score

Reddick is so un-clutch.

I only see numbers via gameday. Does he look rusty? The K's are just as noteworthy as the BB's but I have no way to assess since I am not watching.
-
Healy with the game's first knock...a leadoff gork to shallow RF in the fourth
-

He's not been all over the place, and there have been some close pitches he didn't get. But he's not been pounding the zone either. He's thrown a lot of pitches, so look for another long day for the pen

Getting squeezed some
-
Another walk loads the bases with nobody out for the A's...
-
Peacock finally wears down Brugman.
-
A's get a run on a bases loaded FC...two on, two out...1-0
-
Another walk loads the bases again...two out...
-
Peacock acts like he prefers the bases loaded.
-
T4:
Healy with a flair to RF for the game's first hit
Olson lines right at Marwin, who throws his glove up, but it bounces off...Healy to 2B. Ball was smoked pretty good
Phegley...2-0...2-1...2-2...full count...walks, Healy to 3B, Olson to 2B
Brugman...quickly 0-2...1-2...fouling off pitches...finally strikes out swinging...but a 9-pitch at bat
Rosales grounds into FC in the hole at SS...Olson out 6-5 at 3B, Healy scores, Phegley to 2B
Joyce...3-2...walks, Phegley to 3B, Rosales to 2B
Barreto flies out F9
So Peacock manages to avoid a crooked number, but threw a ton of pitches. Likely done for the day.
A's up 1-0
-
Good escape
-
Only getting 1 run out of that was anti-clutch of them.
-
Astros get their first baserunner...Reddick with a 1-out double
-
Reddick gets another extra-base hit with no one on.

Healy pops out F4
2-1 Astros

The at em line drives cost us 4 runs.

Thread bare rotation; erratic bullpen = 8-2 in the last ten.

More tired than erratic, plus AAA pitchers in big roles.

One is a symptom, the other's a cause, The diagnosis is too many innings forced on relievers due to starters leaving games earlier than desired. The treatment is rest, which is not really an option even with AAA pitchers in big roles. But playing fucking great regardless.

It's midnight est and the Yankees just finished the third inning in Chicago. I'll be curious what their arrival time in Houston will be.
-
I mistakenly thought something would be interesting. I was wrong, because there were numbers involved.
You're either profoundly tone-deaf or this is presidential-level dissimulation. It's OK, though; either suits my purposes.
I'll say this - I gave up talking about clutch performance around here ten years ago or more. Because any time I or anyone else had the temerity to mention clutch we were met with a lively chorus of naysayers who were all too happy to assert that it's a completely fucked-up conceit, as far as I could ever tell because it was ostensibly completely unquantifiable.
The basso profondo of this choir are guys whose high-level competitive experience consists mainly of Dungeons and Dragons and Donkey Kong.
But now... Well! Apparently one of these guys in the Donkey Kong Chorus ran the fuck out of Cheez Whiz and had a couple of minutes to contemplate what might happen if you compared performance in high-leverage situations to global performance or low-leverage spots or whatever it is and now magically clutch is a thing.
People all over the world, join hands. Start a clutch train, a clutch train.

It's rare that you're honest enough to admit that you're completely ignoring what I said and replying to what you're pretending I said.

Friends, we are living in a dangerously anti-intellectual age. Signs of this are abundant. One sign surely is the derisive term 'flip-flopper.' Myself, I view intellectual development as a positive, indeed a necessity. How did the act of changing one's mind as new information is revealed become stigmatized? I do not know. But these crude crusaders of intellectual paralysis are philosophically deficient, that's for sure.
Thesis, antithesis, synthesis.
Or, in the local vernacular better suited to our insufficiently celebrated diversity, I's agin' hit afore I's fer hit!

It's cute that for you to embrace any idea or belief you need approbation, confirmation, and validation from one of your various totems, sacred or profane, and that you frame my casting a soft if not completely flattering light on that fact as somehow anti-intellectual.
-
This is a clutch GZ performance. Spilling into the afternoon of the day following the game is definitely a high leverage scenario.
-

If you thought I didn't believe in a clutch situation before, you're even dumber than I thought.

Nothing in the article I linked stated that clutch players exist. It pointed out that Reddick's issues are unusual precisely because they have occurred every year, which is a pattern seldom seen in any significant level.
Given your well established lack of any degree of reading comprehension, I'm not surprised the point sailed over your head.

No, of course not, they're just measuring leveraged situational performance of individual players and noting the outliers among that data both over careers and over seasons.
Although research suggests that those attributes exist
You might as well be arguing that it's impossible to call someone with a career average of .320 a good hitter because his last two years he hit .260.
Or .236 in the case of a fellow whose organization apparently values his "clutchness."
-
Clutchability may be the preferred term.
-
So chuck, what is is the preferred huffing solvent in Panama these days?

Solvent not clinically indicated. Peyote is.

Altuve chases more bad pitches than the rest of the lineup put together.
The 2017 Altuve is the worst elite hitter I've ever seen.
