West Coast games and a dog who likes to get up at 5 are killing me.

West Coast games and a dog who likes to get up at 5 are killing me.
No kidding. I get up at 4:30 and I'm dragging even just watching a few innings. I also find myself waking up at 1:00 or 2:00 to check the score.

I'm up at 4 for work so watching 1 inning is a stretch for me. At least we'll be back home next week, and I may be able to catch the last few innings of tomorrows game.

I tried to go to bed Monday night, but I kept checking the score. I gave in and watched the whole thing last night.

Six runs for Toronto in the first.

Six runs for Toronto in the first.
Gallo just hit a standup inside the park home run off the LF wall to make it 7-3. The LF fell down hurt and the Jays never even fielded the ball.
-
I've just accepted the fact that I'll be a zombie on these west coast trips. I could barely follow the last three innings last night...
-
T1:
Springer flies out F8
Altuve lines out to 2B
Correa strikes out swinging
No score
-
I have no problem with these west coast games.

Because you don't have a job. Slacker.

FWIW, tomorrow is a day game.

Lowrie...3-2...walks, Pinder to 2B

Marshall Brewery in Tulsa has an Atlas IPA that I really like. I don't know how extensively they distribute away from Tulsa.

Fiers' motion seems kind of herky-jerky tonight.

I don't LOVE the Stone IPA. I don't know what it is, there's a sort of flinty taste to it that I'm not crazy about.

I love it, it's like visiting an old friend every time I have one. But not every beer is for everybody... plenty of popular ones I'm not fond of. My favorite stone creations though are the "enjoy by" series. I make sure to hunt some down every year.

Flinty taste? The rock or the town in Michigan?

What I can get here is limited, obviously, and random. I mentioned the other day that for some reason Evil Twin products, some of them, anyway, suddenly appeared. I've been enjoying the Sunshine Slacker Session IPA. The Founders All Day in the bottle is an old friend beer for me.
When I visit my brother in the US his local supermarket has a make your own sixpack offer, so I go out of my way to try as many things as I can. Maybe the make your own sixpack thing is ubiquitous now, I don't know.

Either.
-
So I'm back...
T5:
Have no idea what happened earlier, but Springer is up with a runner on 1B and two out...down 0-2...falling to his knees...1-2...strikes out swinging
Still no score

Ahhh right. I remember your location now. I know that Stone really emphasizes freshness (as most good IPAs should). They even put the date of canning/bottling when possible on their packaging. I realize how incredibly snotty this sounds... sorry... but with an IPA I think they're best no more than 60 days after canning. Don't get me wrong... I'll still drink it if it's 5 years old, I'll just expect something different. Other brews do well with time but those hops just don't last very long. I've done some beer aging (it's fun!) and I see the ipas more like "how soon can I drink this" rather than a "how long can I age this" kinda deal.
-
So I'm back...
T5:
Have no idea what happened earlier, but Springer is up with a runner on 1B and two out...down 0-2...falling to his knees...1-2...strikes out swinging
Still no score
I've been here all along but still have no idea what's happened.
.....might be this wacky vpn thing though. I'm watching this game at about 6 frames a minute.
-
Infield defense doing some work tonight.
-
B5:
Brugman...0-2...hits a routine grounder to SS, but the shift...Correa makes a great backhanded play and throw, but it's a single
Davis strikes out swinging
Phegley hit by the first pitch
Joyce...3-2...grounds into 6U-3 double play...Correa fields the ball to the right of 2B, Phegley runs right into the tag and a flip to 1B
Still no score
-
Bregman worked a walk in the top half of the fifth but was stranded.
-
Astros with runners at 2B and 3B...nobody out...
-
You can actually find Stone here, too, but I've had it plenty of times in the US and know that it's not a favorite. There are some British bottled ales that somehow make their way here and although I enjoy them I eventually had to quit buying them because a distressing percentage of them are skunky.
-
Astros with runners at 2B and 3B...nobody out...
They need to make something of it
-
Two runs score!

-
Gattis with a 2-run single!
-
The infield came in when Gattis got to 0-2...not sure if Pinder could have made the play on Gattis's ball or not, but Correa would have had to hold to make sure it got down
-
Jake with a 2-out RBI single on an 0-2 pitch...3-0 Astros...
-
T6:
Altuve...3-0...3-1...fouls off ball four...singles to RF
Correa...2-0...lines one past the SS to CF, Altuve to 3B, Correa moves to 2B on the throw...good base running by Carlos
Gattis...corners in...0-2...now infield comes all the way in...broken bat single to CF, Altuve scores, Correa scores
McCann strikes out swinging at a pitch that bounces in the other box
Gurriel smokes a single to CF, Gattis to 2B
Bregman...0-2...strikes out swinging on a pretty weak swing
Marisnick...0-2...singles to LF, Gattis scores
Aoki strikes out swinging
So Manea strikes out the side, but gives up five hits in between. Astros up 3-0
-
Aoki.......fling laow
-
Fiers throwing some good shit tonight.
-
Son of a bitch has made the call!
-

Sipp gets a ground ball out, runners at the corners, one out...Sipp out, Gregerson in
-
Couple of slow infield choppers get outs, but a run scores...3-1...tying run still at the plate.
-
B7:
Alonso doubles to RF on the first pitch
Healy...full count...walks
That's it for Fiers...Sipp in...
Brugman...0-2...grounds into FC, Healy out 4-6, but no chance at two on the speedy Brugman...Alonso to 3B
Sipp out...Gregerson in...
Vogt, pinch hitting for Davis...with a slow chopper to 2B...4-1, Alonso scores, Brugman to 2B
Phegley taps back to the mound...1-3

Good win tonight. Manæa is one tough cookie against the Astros. I hope that brightened your day Colt 45!

Manaea has pitched them tough several times, only to run out of gas late. Good job putting up runs when they had the chance.
-

Thanks for the reminder! I have one Stone left and way too much energy for this time of night.
