That sucks. How bad did it look?
I just tuned in to the radio feed on mlb. Blacked out here in south Georgia for mlb.tv.

Springer takes two cookies then punches out on a pitch in the dirt. Correa takes two cookies then punches out on a pitch in the dirt. But it doesn't matter. The Astros are in first places

No no no. Even the strikeouts are a thing of beauty to be admired and emulated. I hope it continues.

heh

They need to quit making outs. They should hit the ball to places where the Marlins aren't.

The other side of the wall would be nice.
-
That's a big outfield.
-
Nice job stranding the lead-off double.
-
We get hit too much. Tied for the sixth in the league right now. And it seems like it's like that every year.
-
Oh shit. Our pitcher just had an ab... where the fuck are we tonight...?

The inferior National League ballpark. Where people get to watch pitchers hit. How can they DO that?

Take one for the team?

Take one for the team?
Yeah, but the hands and the wrists and the DL stints and the squandered primes and the gnashing of teeth...
-
Is this going to be a let down day after 4 in NY?
-
Adjectives to describe Dan Straily: filthy, unhittable, dominant.

Ok, Jose, time to do some damage.

Missed it--why was Straily taken out?
-
Missed it--why was Straily taken out?
He took a Gattis liner off the forearm. He stayed in for a little, but the radio team said the swelling bruise was increasingly visible.

108 velo that's why.

Yuli resembles Russell Crowe.

Following on GameDay. After the last pitch, yeah, seems like a grand time to pull Musgrove.
-
After 6 innings, it's Astros 4 Fish 1
-
Yuli resembles Russell Crowe.
Are you not entertained??
-
The guys on ESPN are barely aware of a game going on.

My guess is there's a girl involved.

Maybe the love child of Crowe and a troll doll.
-
C'mon Altuve. Good situational hitting would have scored 4.
-
Altuve delivers with the bases loaded by hitting a single through the hole on the left side. 6-1 stros. Error by LF allowed second run to score and altuve to advance to second.

Really incredible that they've been on this network 2 nights in a row and have been an afterthought on the broadcast both times.
ESPN may have fired the wrong batch of people.
-
Jake bats and pops up on a 3-2 pitch. One down.

It feels like the game itself is always an afterthought on the four-letter.

They're going on about exit bikes again.

They're going on about exit bikes again.
Probably still excited about last week's Paris-Roubaix.
ETA: Oh, wait, that was in April. You'd think they'd stop talking about it by now.

Gregerson takes the hill.
Strikes out ozuna swinging.
Justin Moore rips a HR to deep right center.

Astro broadcast available in WV. They likely consider this to be outside the US though....
-
Realmuto reached on a ground ball up the middle that Altuve kept on the IF.
Dietrich flies out to CF to end the 8th.

I thought Springer had a chance to beat out that slow roller and extend his streak...
-
This McGowan guy has no idea where the ball is going to go when he lets go of it.
-
ALTUVE!
-
Altuve hits the target!
-
McGowan still on to start the 9th.
Springer grounds out on a slow roller to 3B.
Reddick K's.
Altuve hits a HR off the piƱata monument in left.

Altuve hit the monstrosity in CF for his 6th HR.
-
He crushed that fucker.

C'mon Altuve. Good situational hitting would have had men on base.
-
Altuve was wandering around the dugout to tell everyone about his HR.

He does what he wants.

C'mon Altuve. Good situational hitting would have had men on base.
And he would have batted twice in the inning.

LSU guy behind home plate next to Marlins Guy is a diamond club season ticket holder and was there for the Yankees game last night as well. Not a bad couple of days if you have the means.

Not precisely the person I've been wondering about.

That was my thought as well. I didn't know there was a guy in an LSU jersey.
-

I know. That's way too much yellow in the second row. That's what you were talking about right....?
-
Riddle flies out to left.
Moore pinch hits and strikes out on a check swing.
Dee Gordon singles weakly down the 3B line.

The Astros are 14-6 at home, 13-6 on the road.

27-12 with Keuchel and McCullers up next, not too shabby boys.

There have certainly been worse seasons in recent memory.

Yeah for sure. I may be in the minority here but I don't even think they're playing their best ball yet either.
-
Aww, someone piss in your Cheerios?
No. This is HH's GZ persona. He was the greatest player who ever played, and no one else measures up.
Trust me. He is a great guy in person.
-
Does anybody think Jose would benefit from a change in the batting order? Do batting order changes work?
No! (as the rest of the game demonstrated)
-
Thanks to all the GZers. I missed the game last night, and it is fun to read the comments.

I certainly appreciate his deep knowledge of the game. It's second to none.
-
No! (as the rest of the game demonstrated)
This is clearly wrong. Derek Bell was the completest thing until they moved him from second in the batting order.
-
I certainly appreciate his deep knowledge of the game. It's second to none.
Think so?

The Astros are 14-6 at home, 13-6 on the road.
the road record is what impresses me the most about this club.
-
Think so?
Well. Certainly better than mine....
-

That and the home record.

The overall record is good too.

I'm a little concerned about their record in the first games of doubleheaders.

Aw shucks...I never said I was the greatest.

And just a reminder since I seem to be everyone's favorite whipping boy today: the GZ is full of emotion. We cheer when our team does good and we wail when they don't. It's in the moment. It's is not always meant to be taken as reasoned analysis. Though I stand by my observation that the pen was for shit on Sunday.

The GZ is watching the game at a bar with people you don't really know who happen to share a common affinity for a group of remote millionaires.

Not me. I didn't pile on. I had your back, standing right behind you in case folks really started flinging stuff. I was having to duck a little bit though.

I understand. No hard feelings on my end. I've been lurking here a long time. A LONG time before I really started posting at all. There are a handful of people I do enjoy reading stuff from. You're one of them. I just got caught up in the moment myself when I complained about the "bitching."
