Title: Year End Awards 2016
Post by: Nate Colbert on October 27, 2016, 04:19:36 pm
In addition to Altuve winning the Sporting News Player of the Year Award, the Rawlings Gold Glove finalists were announced. Keuchel unsurprisingly is one of the 3 finalists at AL pitcher while Springer and Rasmus each made the corner OF lists. Pedroia, Cano and Kinsler made the list at 2B ahead of Altuve. Ex Carlos Perez (along with McCann and Salvador Perez) was on the catchers list over Castro.

Reminder that the Gold Glove finalists thing is nothing more than hype and the actual winners have already been voted on and selected.

That said, what in the world is the motivation for making Colby a finalist given that he started only 75 games in left?

And Perez only started 76 games behind the plate for the Angels.

Altuve with his third straight silver slugger award.  He also won the MLBPA players choice (http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Jose-Altuve-earns-3-accolades-at-MLBPA-s-Players-10605378.php) awards for (1)  MLB Player of the Year; (2) AL's Most Outstanding Player; and (3) the Majestic "Always Game" Award, "given to the player who -- game in and game out -- constantly exhibits grit, tenacity, perseverance and hustle; all for the benefit of his teammates and fans."

He's very popular among his peers.

If he was white they would have also called him a "student of the game" and a "coach on the field".
