Will Harris will not be available. He had a baby boy yesterday! Will return tomorrow. #astrosbabies
-
our bullpen needs to do more impregnating during the season and less in Dec-Feb.
Congrats to the Harris' though.
-
Just great. I'm in Santa Fe and DBacks games are blacked out here. Think a VPN from another state university will trick MLB.TV?

Yes. Or you could sign up for a free trial with any one of dozens of commercial VPNs.

Great. Thanks.
In Win7 now and don't want to boot to Ubuntu to attempt to set up my first proxy.
-
Sparse crowd. Very few Houston fans.
-
VPN working for me. Excellent. Game on.
-
Whew! Springer's trip at second nearly costs them, but three straight singles plate the first run.
-
Astros grab a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Rasmus...two on, one out for Valbuena...

Wow that was close. Great speed, slide.

Gotta be honest... I had Beaker flashbacks when he tripped on second.
-
Walk loads the bases...one out for Carter
-
2-run single by Carter!
-
Valbuena walks, Carter singles 2 home. 3-0 good guys.

Stop trying to make "RISPing" happen, Root Sports.
-
Castro intentionally walked to bring Keuchel to the plate with the bases juiced and two out.
-
Tucker bounces 4-3, Castro IBB to get to the pitcher.
-
T1:

So, never thought about it before, but imagine they couldn't have had someone else hit 9th and then replace them with Keuchel?
-
So, never thought about it before, but imagine they couldn't have had someone else hit 9th and then replace them with Keuchel?
No. The starting pitcher must face at least one batter before being replaced.
-
So, never thought about it before, but imagine they couldn't have had someone else hit 9th and then replace them with Keuchel?
That's why you have to submit your lineup card.

Laz Diaz finding strikes tonight.
-
Laz Diaz finding strikes tonight.
That third strike no Carter -- no way.
-
That third strike no Carter -- no way.
As a catcher, I never complain about a wide strike zone. Even less so with a 5-run lead.
-
Tomas - the D'Backs LF - was PH for in the 2nd, announcers presuming due to his (clear) lack of hustle on the bloop to LF.
-
The DBacks have a player named Wellington and one named Socrates
-
B2:
Castillo chops out 5-3
Drury, pinch hitting for Tomas, grounds out sharply 6-3
Owings walks
Brito dribbles one just in front of the plate, out 2-3...nice play be Castro to jump on that
5-0 after two
-
The DBacks have a player named Wellington and one named Socrates
"I drank WHAT?!?!"

Meanwhile in Minnesota, the Royals lead the Twins 3-1 in the 8th with the bases loaded and one out

So one of the events of my past, I used to work for Go Daddy and they held their Christmas parties on the field there at Chase Field. Fun times in the past as I no longer work for that company and they stopped flying far flung employees to Arizona a couple years before I left.

Real Genius reset...nice
-
This strike zone is a joke but w Keuchel and a five run lead, I like it.
-
Great comment by Blum.. "Finally a pitch that Altuve can't swing at!"
-
"Deep fly ball to right field" says Ashby as the RF trots in towards it.

What guy worries about his floorboards?
-
What guy worries about his floorboards?
I had an uncle who shotgunned his floorboard. Thank goodness for AA.

Twins lose

You are my hero.
-
T5:
Tucker grounds to 2B, shift on, so he's out 5-3
Castro ground to 2B, shift on, so he's out 5-3
Keuchel strikes out swinging
7-1 still
-
I wish they'd try to catch up on these commercial breaks where they don't show anything..
-
You are my hero.
Aw shucks, it ain't nothing really.
Big day in sport, AFL grand final and the MF Hawks are gunning for three straight premerships.
-
You are my hero.
And really? The Beatles or Credence? That was a thing in Australia?
-
Gee, hit the refresh after Carlos' HR and all of a sudden we are in the 5th
-
And really? The Beatles or Credence? That was a thing in Australia?
Yes sir, pre AC-DC this is what people were listening to.
-
Strike zone non existent now.
-
Gee, hit the refresh after Carlos' HR and all of a sudden we are in the 5th
Pm me an address. You need a can of wolf brand and some Fritos for the playoffs.
-
B5:
Brito chops one past Keuchel, Altuve fields it, underhands it...ruled out 4-3...challenge...awfully close...Carter with no stretch at all...call will stand
O'Brien pinch hitting for Collmenter, hits one into Nevada...his first Major League home run
Pollock flies out F9
Gosselin...full count...walks as the strikes zone has now shrunk to the size of a donut
Goldschmidt strikes out swinging
7-2 after five
-
Nice job by keuchel to overcome this chump's inconsistent strike zone.
-
Pm me an address. You need a can of wolf brand and some Fritos for the playoffs.
Coronas and pizza has worked well for the last two football grand finals so I cant change at this point.
-
Up to you, but Frito pie is God's own fast food.
-
The DBacks have a player named Wellington and one named Socrates
I have no beef with that... I think.

Ashby has a way of fixating on intriguing shit.
-
This strike zone is a total joke.
BTW, I don't Keuchel out based on score, only pitch count.
-
Valbuena!!!
-
The game is going past pretty quick, I was hoping for a nice long footy / baseball overlap.
60 minutes from game time, about time for the first of the day.
-
BTW, I don't Keuchel out based on score, only pitch count.
What's scary is that I understood that.
-
Valbuena!!!
Crap, I gotta stop hitting the refresh button, that is the second HR I have missed.
-
T6:
Webster on the mound
Altuve flies out F7
Springer grounds out 6-3
Correa...3-0...3-1...3-2...walks
Rasmus...3-0...3-1...3-2 on a pitch way off the plate, though Correa takes 2B...the catcher didn't even bother to throw because he assumed it was a ball...homers to CF
Valbuena homers to CF
Carter...full count...strikes out looking at a belt high meatball
Astros up 10-2
-
Carter simply doesn't believe in stretching for a throw
-
Intriguing international take (http://tinyurl.com/paq4h9e) on Correa's blast.
-
"Carter is not stretching out on those throws."
Ashby rather observant in game 160.
-
Armadillo Palace has a pretty good venison Frito pie.
And the post-lunch burps are strong.
-
This strike zone is a total joke.
BTW, I don't Keuchel out based on score, only pitch count.
That's my concern with this strike zone extending plate appearances and innings. Keuchel doesn't need to be overworked this game. F'ing umpire.
-
Correa having a dick stepping inning
-
WOW Rasmus ran that shit down!
-
I hope Rasmussen continues not to wash his hair for the rest of the season.
-
Intriguing international take (http://tinyurl.com/paq4h9e) on Correa's blast.
There it is. Nice!
-
Correa having a dick stepping inning
You use that expression to better effect than anyone.
-
B6:
Hill grounds to SS, Correa bobbles it, throws to first, but not in time... E6...Hinch challenging, but he'll lose it...yep, call confirmed
Castillo grounds to SS, Correa goes to 2B, but terrible throw...Altuve manages to catch it, but no chance at a double play
Drury...3-2...flies out deep to CF on a nice running grab by Rasmus
Owings...3-2...flies out F9
10-2 Astros
-
Does Dallas come out for 7th?
-
Hey, Ashby, not every fly ball is 'hammered'.
-
I assume that's it for Keuchel...he was really laboring after the Correa miscues.
-
Hey, Ashby, not every fly ball is 'hammered'.
Pelted?
-
Does Dallas come out for 7th?
Hell no.
-
Castro got a hit! I guess anything's possible in this universe.
-
Astros with bases loaded and nobody out for Altuve...
-
Altuve with a sac fly, bases loaded again for Correa
-
Altuve with a sac fly, bases loaded again for Correa
It's that great situational hitting that makes this team what it is.
-
My wife earlier thought the Snakes' RF was named Socrates Frito. Is that a sign?
-
Correa with a 3-run triple
-
Save some of these runs.
-
If you're not watching...it's 15-2 Astros with two on and one out in the 7th
-

KK struck out. He was due.

-
B7:
Thatcher on the hill, lots of defensive changes
Brito strikes out swinging
Saltalamacchia, pinch hitting for Burgos, with a rule book double
Pollock grounds out 5-3
Gosselin grounds out 4-3
17-2
-
We saw a pinch-runner come around to bat, and almost saw a pinch-hitter get a 2nd AB as PH.
-
A scorecard for this game looks like a Rorschach test,
-
If the Astros score another couple of runs they can probably go ahead and let Neshek pitch.
-

F you.

My dog is laying on the couch beside me, and she just looked up as if "is this game ever gonna end?"
-
F you.
??? I don't mean the whole inning. Just get a batter or two and then get Conger in there. And hope he can make it to home plate without a bounce.
-
Poor Diamonbacks.. They had to receive the wrath of the horrible month of September
Screw 'em. That's baseball.
-
What a nice present from the Astros. Now just keep it up and we should be set. Obviously.

God I want to see Conger try to pitch so bad. Would be the highlight of my night
-
I always like a good football score in baseball.
-
Arizona's got to try an onside kick here.
-
Just got home. What'd I miss?
-
He'd be a better player if his name were Homerunleton.
Thank you, folks, my name is Neil, I'll be here all weekend.
-
I wonder what the club records are for number of different players hitting safely and reaching base in a single game.
-
Just got home. What'd I miss?
Fucking Greg's having VPN problems. That's about it.
-

That was one of the more unfortunate of Ashby's one-sided conversations.
-
So. Due to family obligations I had to spend game time in a movie theater watching Matt Damon become a space pirate. What do those of you who are well versed in bbg formalities suggest? See the same movie two more times or can another space movie get the job done? I'm willing to do whatever it takes.
-

I'm with Blummer. I just roll with "SocrAtes," Bill & Ted-style.

I heard that was pretty good.
You've already sacrificed. Your not watching brought about the victory.

Neil's uncomfortable going to the bathroom. (http://www.orangewhoopass.com/?p=12877)

I got back from the mandatory party last night about 12:30, fired up the phone with a bit of trepidation, and then looked at it cock-eyed and wondered if ESPN had somehow screwed up and mistakenly entered the score from some football game. I had to dig a little further to determine that, yes, the Astros had in fact cranked out 21 runs. Amazing.
And now the Twins have lost and the Angels are losing (they are literally paying Hamilton to beat them, which is pretty funny), and thinks look a lot more encouraging than they did a couple of days ago. I'm trying to decide if I dare watch tonight's game. If I thought that watching the ND-Clemson game would fuck ND, I'd do that in a heartbeat, but the bad juju will probably ricochet and fuck Clemson instead.
-

Kinda thought the same...then....low and behold....LAA scored 5 in T9 and won it...
