The pitch Correa GIDP'd on was way inside, off the plate. Bad decision, bad result. Astros fucked up a promising start to that inning.

I wish Astros hitters had the Rangers' discipline. 49 pitches through 2 for Keuchel.

Andrus worked the count full before walking
Keuchel already at 40 pitches

Gattis answers your wish with a 1st-pitch routine 6-3 groundout. Sorry.

Rasmus takes two pitches in the exact same spot - 6 inches outside at the knees - one called a ball, the other a strike.

edit: and eventually K's swinging at a pitch in the same spot.

Astros load the bases, Perez is all over the place suddenly, Maddux goes out and lays his hands on Perez and says some shit to him.

That was completely terrible. Swung at 4 straight obvious balls with a 3-ball count, then takes one middle-away for Strike 3, and bitches at the ump about it.

Astros 2nd

Gattis grounded out to shortstop.
Rasmussen works the count full (Perez at 12 pitches) fouls one off the strikes out.
Marwin hits a slow roller to short and beats out the throw for a single
Carter lines a single to LF, Marwin advances to 3rd.
Castro makes Perez throe a lot of pitched before he walks to load the bases.
Mound visit
Marisnick doubles to RF and scores Gonzalez and Carter. Castro to third. Astros 2 Rangers 1
Altuve takes three balls, then takes strike one, swings and misses for strike two, foul, foul, looks at strike three.

End of 2 Astros 2 Rangers 1

AtBat showed it to be a ball, but the two previous pitches he swung at were balls. I don't know what he has against walking.

Looking at the replay angle, it was borderline outside. But a much better pitch than the 3 he swung at. Hinch needs to remind him that he has Springer and Correa hitting behind him, he doesn't have to drive those runs in if they don't pitch to him. Goddamn that was frustrating.

Agreed. He has the approach that the 8 hole hitter should have on an NL team.

Beltre strikes out.

I'm surprised Stassi hasn't started one of these games vs. lefty pitchers. Castro has played a lot since coming back from his hammy injury, and while it's great to have him behind the plate again, his ABs that I've seen have been pretty terrible, with a plethora of Ks.
Title: Re: Rangers @ Astros September 27, 2015
Post by: Reuben on September 27, 2015, 02:52:27 pm
Another lousy, over-anxious AB by Altuve, this time with bases empty and 2 outs.

Marisnick got robbed by Choo on a diving grab in RF. Could've been a triple if he'd whiffed on it.

I'm guessing Keuchel is done after six innings, but with the bullpen being what it is, maybe he stays in to start the seventh.

3-2 Astros heading to the bottom of the 8th. DDS drove in Stench with a 6-3 groundout. Neshek and Sipp were warming up when Harris got the 3rd out; I suspect we'll see Sipp face Fielder to start the 9th. Gregerson may not be available after his strenuous inning yesterday.

Bottom 8, 3-2.

On the lighter side, at least we're not Washington. Papelbon just tried to punch out Harper in the dugout.

Yeah, if a co-worker assaulted me and my boss ignored it, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be showing up the next day...

I see. You're saying even though they're tied with the Angels in the loss column, that if the Angels win all their remaining games, they'll both pass the Rangers, because the Angels and Rangers finish the season with 4 games in Dallas. I think that's what you mean...
