Fuck these guys

Getting the free MLB feed but having to listen to the StRangers feed. Torture.
-
Altuve!!!!
1-0 Astros

ALTUVE!!!

Oh, I guess this is the official thread for this game.
In that case...
ALTUVE!!

6. Evan Gattis (R) DH
7. Hank Conger (S) C
8. Luis Valbuena (L) 1B
9. Jake Marisnick (R) CF
SP: Scott Kazmir (L)
Texas Rangers
1. Delino DeShields (R) CF
2. Shin-Soo Choo (L) RF
3. Adrian Beltre (R) 3B
4. Prince Fielder (L) DH
5. Mike Napoli (R) LF

7. Elvis Andrus (R) SS
8. Rougned Odor (L) 2B
9. Chris Gimenez (R) C
SP: Cole Hamels (L)
-
Hamel's is all over the place tonight. I like it.
-
T1:
Springer grounds out 6-3
Altuve homers to LF
Correa flies out F8
Lowrie fouls a hard on off his shin, then is hit on the foot on the next pitch. Painful at bat
Rasmus grounds into RF, shift on so secondbaseman fields it and he's out 4-3
Astros grab a quick 1-0 lead
-
On the replays it looked like the pitch hit the dirt just before it hit Lowrie's foot. Hopefully that took some of the sting/damage out of it.
-
The Rangers have Mike Napoli in LF tonight. He has appeared in 1 game, 5 innings, in the OF prior to today. So that's... different. Maybe he plays OF much better than your average fat, old, former catcher/1B type.

He doesn't. He must have a phenomenal history against Kazmir or something.
-
@AstrosCounty just deemed Hamels name #holecamels
-
B1:
Deshields strikes out looking
Choo grounds out 6-3 on a smash right at Correa, sliding backhand grab
Beltre...works the count full...grounds out 5-3 on a nice pick by Valbuena
1-0 Astros
-
Nice glove work there, fellas.
-
Nice glove work there, fellas.
That's the thing that endeared me to last year's Royals team and so refreshingly different about this Astros team: really good defense (by and large). Marisnick's display in left field the other day was other-worldly.
-
Well Valbuena hit that one hard
-
T2:
Gattis flies out F8 on the first pitch
Conger...full count...strikes out swinging
Valbuena lines a bullet between where the SS and 3B should be, but with the shift on it's right at the only infielder on that side
1-0 Astros
-
Shift 2 Astros 0
-
Wow, that was not good
-
Way to brag about the defense there fellas. Nice job.
-
Sheee-it.
-

um...
-
Way to brag about the defense there fellas. Nice job.
Yeah, I apologize for that.
-
Shift 3 Astros 0
-
Shitty defense and now Kazmir has to really labor.
-
Damn and Yeah
-
The nice thing about the infield fly rule is you get the out even if the fielder drops the pop-up.
-
B2:
Fielder pops up lazily to 3B and Lowrie clanks it. Ugh
Napoli grounds roller to SS, perfect double play ball...but the shift...you know what happens, Fielder to 2B
Moreland strikes out swinging...should have been the end of the inning
Andrus...full count...pops up...infield fly in effect...F4
Odor lines over Marisnick's head, Fielder scores, Napoli tries his luck...he's out at the plate! 8-6-2
But the Rangers tie it up on an unearned run when Kazmir has to get 5 outs.
1-1
-
Thank heaven for slow baserunners.
-
Thank heaven for slow baserunners.
And really bad decisions by third base coaches. It was a bad throw and they still got him
-
Off the bat, I thought Marisnick would run it down, but he had no chance. That ball was smoked.
-

1-1
Is it worth pointing out the Shift, in Napoli's case, meant the SS was only slightly more towards 3B than normal? He is a RH batter. He just hit it between the SS and the 2B.

He was over pretty far considering the double play was in order. For example, if he hits it to Altuve, he can't got to 2B with the ball
-
Odor's chin reminds me of something I saw in a 1976 Easy Rider pictorial spread.

Agreed. Frustrating, but different from when they only have one fielder over there and the hitter intetionally takes advantage of what they gave him.
-
Astros have 1B and 3B with 2 out for Lowrie...time to make up for the clank.
-
"And an intriguing series when Astros see nothing but lefties on the hill."

Take your word on that one.
-
T3:
Marisnick grounds out 5-3
Springer...full count...grounds out 5-3 on a nice play be Beltre and pick.
Altuve reaches on E4
Correa singles up the middle...Hamels deflected it, but it still sneaks through, Altuve to 3B
Lowrie, who's an RBI in the hole...strikes out swinging.
Astros leave a pair
1-1
-
runners in scoring position == kryptonite
-
Jed having a rough night so far.
-
Lynyrd Skynyrd on September 26th!!!
-
The way Conger backhands those balls breaking to his left freaks me out.
-
Gomez out the rest of the series with intercostal strain. Probably from screwing himself into the ground on those wild hacks.
-
Geez, that was a meatball DDS struck out on.
-
holy shit. i'm blaming austro.
-
Kazmir is a mess
-
fuckfuckfuck
-
Walk, HBP and a fucked up pickoff attempt has Rangers at 2B and 3B with one out
-
Beltre emulating Gattis' strike zone judgement there.
-
B3:
JIM-in-ez...full count...lead off walk
Deshields...shift on, three infielders on the left...strikes out swinging
Choo leans into one and it hits him on the arm, Gimenez to 2B
Kazmir throws a pickoff attempt into CF, Gimenez to 3B, Choo to 2B
Beltre pops out F3
Fielder...shift on...pops out F5 as Lowrie squeezes this one
Good work there by Kazmir to end the inning
1-1 after three
-
Lowrie hurt. I suspect he's coming out and will miss some time.
-
Lowrie hurt. I suspect he's coming out and will miss some time.
From the HBP on his foot?
-
Lowrie hurt. I suspect he's coming out and will miss some time.
I didn't notice, but I'm only keeping half-an-eye on things. What did you notice?
-
From the HBP on his foot?
From the shot he took off the shin
-
I didn't notice, but I'm only keeping half-an-eye on things. What did you notice?
Him limping and moving very slowly back to the dugout.
-
From the HBP on his foot?
He certainly seemed to be shuffling off the field at the end of the inning.
-
Why is that every single Houston-born player murders the Astros in Houston, but Gattis can't hit shit when he's in Dallas?
-
T4:
Rasmus flies out F9
Gattis grounds out 6-3
Conger hits one up the middle, but the shift...4-3
Shift 4 Astros 0
Game still tied 1-1
-
OK...gotta get on a conference call. Someone get some runs
-
Nice bounce-back inning from Kazmir.
I also would like the Houston club to tally some runs now.
-
Nice hit Jake Ryan
-
Hamels called for a balk.
-
Marisnick hurts one 390 to left center, but the ball is 3 feet too close to left, hits off the higher wall segment, and stays in the park.

Nice hit Jake Ryan
That was very close to going out.
Whoa, a balk! That's a gift.
-
safe!!!

Nice slide by Jake. Astros take the lead.
-
Wow.
-
Jake was never even touched, and the Astros take the lead

Ashby admits he wasn't watching Hamels very close on the balk. Intriguing.

OMG, I love that non-catch.

Fly balls are hard!

Napoli in left is intriguing

The Rangers have Mike Napoli in LF tonight. He has appeared in 1 game, 5 innings, in the OF prior to today. So that's... different. Maybe he plays OF much better than your average fat, old, former catcher/1B type.
Or maybe not!
-
I would love for Carlos to hit one over the LF wall.
-
Villar pinch-hitting for Lowrie.
-
Villar wiggles around a whole lot in the box. I don't recall him doing that before.
-
I think Villar bought that beard at a gift shop in a truck stop.
-

Not a coincidence, it's the same place Rasmus gets his hair cut.
-
DeShields running here is about as certain as the sunrise.

I thought so, too, but Kazmir gets out of the inning without that happening.

Fuck Colby...you can't stand on 3B and watch the double play!

that's the second hit batter for hamels. valbuena seems to be quite hurt.

My thought exactly.
-
Fuck, valbuena looks hurt after that HBP on the hand/wrist
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow he was screaming as soon as it hit him
-
I'm glad he does not seem to be hurt. that had me worried.
-
THUD!
-
Crap and fuck. Another squandered opportunity.
-
Rasmus may be a better left fielder then Napoli.
-
Crap and fuck. Another squandered opportunity.
It's really quite amazing. You'd think that every once in a while, just by accident, somebody would score.
-
Rasmus may be a better left fielder then Napoli.
He didn't even have to move, but the dipshit Ranger fans were whooping and hollering like it was 490-foot Stanton shot.
-
Fuck.

I think I'll stop posting now.

You'd think the Astros' collective dick would be mush by now.
-
I was driving back from Dallas today and the reason Napoli is in LF is so Moreland can play.
-
goddam fucking shit.
-
I think I'll stop posting now.
No, no, the BBGs are fucking rolling on the floor laughing at you
-
Astros just need to pull up their underoos and score some runs. Hamels has been all over the place no reason they should not have some luck go their way.
-
I just want the Astros to beat the Rangers, that really isn't asking that much.
-
I don't understand either team's total unwillingness to attempt a steal.
-
Great AB from villar
-
Villar with a really nice AB that turns into a walk and advances correa into scoring position.

Hamels seems to fit in with the whiny-Rangers well.

Fuck off - glad hamels isn't an Astro.

Back to PBP
T7:
Springer strikes out swinging
Altuve singles up the middle
Correa...full count...grounds into FC, Altuve out 5-4
Villar...full count...walks, Correa to 2B
Rasmus...full count...smokes one off of Moreland's chest, caroms into RF, Correa scores, Villar to 3B
Gattis swings the first pitch over his head and hits a lazy fly ball to CF
Astros tie it up...3-3 at the stretch
-
Hard to have any confidence in Gattis right now. Just a string of terrible ABs with the same mistakes made over and over. He's better than this.
-

No, that's pretty much who he is.
-
WTF? Odor has a fucking robot leg attached to his own.
-
Odor borrowed his shin guard from a storm trooper. Appropriate.

Conger is a 1 tool player and it's tagging

B7:
Odor grounds out 6-3
Gimenez grounds out 6-3, on a soft liner that Correa dives to shorthop
Deshields pops up behind the plate, Conger doesn't exactly make much of a play on it, another chance...strikes out swinging
to the 8th...knotted at 3
-
Tie game - Gattis coming to the plate
That's a quality AB right there against a pitcher who's been missing the corners and is getting flustered.
-
I honestly thought Kazmir was tiring before the Moreland HR; but he handled that inning just fine.
-
Let's go Stros.
-
Valbuena deserves a hit after getting hit.
-
and another pitching change by the rangers.
-
I think I'd like to see Jake running here.
-
Springer's last home run was June 21st...I say he's due.
-
George has displayed no power since his return
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I, also, was thinking he's due.
-
I guess we'll just have to wait until his next at-bat.
And Ashby seems to think he should have been called out.
-
T8:
Hamels out, Diekman in
Conger flies out F9
Valbuena strikes out swinging
Marisnick...full count...walks
Diekman out, Kela in
Marisnick steals 2B on a ball that hits the dirt
Springer...full count...walks on what should have been strike three
Altuve...3-0...now 3-1...hits a lazy fly to LF
More 0 fer RISP
Still 3-3

Not the contact that I have come to expect from altuve on a 3-1 fastball

I really want to recap an Astros win. I hate them playing on Mondays. I'm ....ughhhhh
-
THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
-
I don't understand bring in a lefty just to face choo then bringing in a righty with prince on deck?
-
I don't understand bring in a lefty just to face choo then bringing in a righty with prince on deck?
Because you don't want Perez to face Beltre.
-
B8:
Perez on the hill...
Choo grounds out 5-3
Perez out, Harris in
Beltre singles to LF
Fielder...full count...homers to CF on a meatball, belt high, right down the center of the plate, Beltre scores
Stubbs strikes out swinging
That's it for Harris, Sipp in
Moreland doubles to RF
Andrus flies out F8
To the 9th...Astros chasing a pair 5-3
-
Then bring in Harris to start the inning. Bringing in Perez to start an inning against choo is wasting a lefty out of the pen to me
Edit - I'm not questing bringing in Harris. Just feel like it was a misuse of Perez
-

Misuse? His job is to get out situational lefties. He did his job.
-
Misuse? His job is to get out situational lefties. He did his job.
If I'm going to use him for one hitter, fielder should be that hitter. Not choo.
-
I am so sick of them losing to the fucking Rangers. Bunch of whiny-assed bitches and the Astros can't beat them. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!
-
T9:
Tolleson in...
Correa singles to CF
Villar grounds to 2B, Correa runs straight into the tag and easy double play
Crowd is electric...
Rasmus strikes out swinging
Rangers win 5-3, and they've caught the Astros for the division.
-
If I'm going to use him for one hitter, fielder should be that hitter. Not choo.
.
Second guess much? You've got a choice of Perez facing Beltre or Harris facing Choo. Neither are switch pitchers.

Who's on the hill tomorrow?

Who's on the hill tomorrow?
Does it matter?

I probably would have left kazmir in to fave choo or brought Harris in panning to have him pitch the whole inning. Having Harris in the game is not my issue. Bringing in Perez to face choo to lead off the inning is my issue
-

Then you're hopeless.

Who's on the hill tomorrow?
Why not forfeit the rest of the games and just get some rest before the A's.
-
Why not forfeit the rest of the games and just get some rest before the A's.
I'm hoping for an onset of excessive cockiness by the Rangers.
-
Why not forfeit the rest of the games and just get some rest before the A's.
Because you've only got a 1-game lead for the second Wild Card spot. Gotta hope for a miracle.
-
I'm hoping for an onset of excessive cockiness by the Rangers.
There already is this. That does not seem to piss of the BBGs or any other G. I just can't believe they can't seem to beat these assholes.
-
I'm still waiting for the turning point and starting to realize it will probably never come.
Every couple of weeks they pull off some crazy last-second win and I hope that will finally be the game that gets them to relax and go on a real hot streak. But they always go right back to panic mode. I really thought for a moment that yesterday would be it... that finish was straight out of Hoosiers. But no. They played and acted tonight like yesterday never happened. Tight and miserable.
I'm starting to worry about next season now. How will this team react if they're in contention this time next year?
-

Really? You're worried about them being tight in September 2016?
-
I'm hoping for an onset of excessive cockiness by the Rangers.
Like bragging about how good they are defensively?
-
This season may... may... be a writeoff.
If the worst happens I just hope there won't be lasting consequences.

I wouldn't say they are in "panic mode." They just lost another game on the road. I think they have even bought into the crappy idea that they can't win on the road. I guess they have heard it enough they believe it. I'm more pissed that they lost to the Rangers than I am that they only won 2 of 6 between the A's and Angels.
And a shitload can happen between now and next year.
-
I guess they have heard it enough they believe it.
They've done more than hear it, they've lived it. The idea that they've been terrible on the road is not a made up one.

None that I know of. I was responding to Austro.

77-67 > 76-67.

They let this one get away, but I like our starters the next three games and the core players (Springer, Altuve, Correa) are all hitting, so I'm going to keep watching.

You've been told repeatedly that the loss column is all that matters. You insist on spinning it so that you don't feel as bad about them being run down in the standings. Knock yourself out. That doesn't make you right

Well, you can argue about controlling one's destiny, or playing catch up, or what can or can't be done but it's all academic. The only thing that determines the outcome its the outcome.
