Nice to see Castro.

Nice to see Castro.
I'm surprised not to see Rasmus in the lineup against a RHer.

That's two nights in a row. I wonder if he's banged up.

Flu like symptoms according to Hinch.

Nice quick 1st for McCullers. 9 pitches, all of them strikes and a couple of punch outs.
-
My 79 year old mom says, "George Springer is a nice looking young man."
-
Strokin' Chris Carter!!!
Solo shot makes it 1-0 Astros.
-
I know he can't help it but Ryan Flaherty is a goofy looking bastard.
Chris Carter clears the playing field!!!

Carter's getting lively.

Carter's getting lively.
He was tired of everybody making fun of him in the other threads.

He must have tons of patience if it took this long for him to grow tired of it

T4:
Jones with a 1-out triple
-
T4:
Young singles to RF on a ball that looked awfully foul. Jones scores to tie it up.
-
Bad luck on that single. Guy was beat and got bailed out.

I wanna see a better look at that. I swear that ball looked foul. There was no chalk flying, so if it hit the line, it barely scraped the last fair molecule.
-
Mccullers has pitched really well and efficient so far
-

I agree. Should have been a foul ball in my eyes

I went back and looked frame by frame. It was a foul ball. I'm surprised there was no review.
-
Everybody's going after that high strike tonight. I wonder if this guy's delivery is fooling them somehow.
-

One of the things about the tandem was efficiency. They got up to 5 innings. But they had about 75 pitches to get there.
-
I really like the way McCullers is pitching these guys. He's very impressive for such a young guy.
-
Carter!!!
Keep on strokin'!!!
2-1 Stros
-
Mighty lively. He must really be embarrassed.
-
Damn Carter. Get some big fella
-
I thought y'all traded Carter a couple of weeks ago.
Fucking frontrunners.

From near 1B the breaking stuff looks wicked.

Third week of the season. You gotta keep up.
Lollygagger.

Breaking stuff looks wicked from my couch too.

Fastball got a little zip too.

Was thinking the same thing

Random thought: I hope Neshek is officially the 8th inning guy. Qualls makes me nervous.
-
I don't know what's up with Marisnick, but he's a mess.
-

Neshek or Harris either one.
-
Springer Dinger!!
Man he hammered that hanger.
3-1 Astros
-
Neshek or Harris either one.
I like Harris as the guy to come in to get out of a jam.
-
McCullers looks good in the 7th.
-
7 innings, less than 80 pitches. Nice.
ETA: Apparently it's 81 pitches. I guess I can't count anymore, either.
-
Hes got a shot to finish out this game. Pretty Damn good today
-
That's it for Gonzalez. Showalter's not gonna let him face Carter again.
-
Springer Dinger!!
Man he hammered that hanger.
3-1 Astros
Was that the usual swing with every once he did he take a bit off it?
I couldn't tell, not streaming too well today and a full half inning behind.

He swung pretty hard. But it was a big time hanging slider...musta looked like a watermelon coming at him.
-
Man...that curveball is still biting
-
This mccullers guy is pretty filthy
-
He's got that 12 - 6 slider going on.
-

On my screen it looked like it stopped in mid air for a about second, that has to make it easy or the hitter.
-
I guess McCullers is done.
-
I guess McCullers is done.
He's got the sweatshirt on. I guess so.
-
I'd like Villar to have a chance to make an out on the base paths.
-

I would let him go back out but I'm not surprised if he's indeed done.
-
Qualls will close?
-
Qualls will close?
That's just cruel.
-
We go to the 9th...
3-1 Astros
McCullers back out, but probably a short leash.
-
Jones singles with 2-out.
Hinch out...he's gonna let Lance stay in.
-
I really like Hinch.
-
I like it from hinch
-
Scary, though: Davis is certainly capable of tying things up.
-
Highway robbery on that ball call
-
Ponche!!!
Astros win! Complete game by McCullers
-
Brilliant.
-
What a night for mccullers. This guy may be special. Wow
-
What a great exhibition by McCullers. Still bringing it at 96 in the 9th, and then had the balls to go off-speed to get Davis.
-
THAT my friends is big league pitching.
Astros only get 4 hits, but 3 of them leave the yard.
-
Wow
-
Meanwhile, back in Perth, we have one out in the bottom of the eighth...
The new MLBtv format seems to have a better picture and never seems to crash but it hangs and lags a lot.

Where are all the guys that said McCullers was destined for the pen?

With the guys who'd given up on Carter.
-
The first HR by Carter reminded me of Mo Alou. Pulled his hands in and hit an inside pitch 900 feet.
-

Just finished here, you cant ruin a game like that.
I have actually had some benefit from lagging over the last couple of seasons.

Karter can make his HRs look easy but damn until he gets his stroke he sucks. That drives me nuts about him, how long do you have to go in a season before that stroke comes?
-
How about spelling his name correctly. Hinch just said he has never wavered on keeping him in.

I heard it and he has played better since I started spelling his name the way I do. It's my streak and I'm not messing with it.
-

54 games, apparently.

Sure. Not any funnier than Carmondez Happy runs into the ground.
-
I think these guys can play a little.
-
They just st showed Carter's second HR from behind the plate. Damn that was a poke.
-
Sure. Not any funnier than Carmondez Happy runs into the ground.
He's earned Kris Karter the hard way, but he's also earned some patience and some admiration. What a weird, great team.
-
kind of a bummer having to follow this with Keuchel.
-
Sure. Not any funnier than Carmondez Happy runs into the ground.
I don't find 72 strike outs funny, I'll make a deal with you for this season though, when he gets his batting average over his weight (.250) then I'll spell his name correctly for however long he keeps it there.
And I have no clue the Carmondez reference and I haven't cared enough to figure it out.
-
Say what you will about Carter, his struggles with avg and K's, but man... dude's positive attitude, determination, and smile are downright contagious.
-
Comparing Chris Carter to Moises Alou is absolutely blasphemous.

Keith Law? After the game he was still twittering that McCullers is a closer.

The point of someone like Carter is not to see if he can get his AVG over .250. Sure, it would be nice, but he can hit .230 and strikeout 180 times and still be a really productive hitter.
Our Roberto Hernandez was known as Fausto Carmona when he first made his splash with the Indians circa 2007-10. False identity.
