wondered if anyone was going to be here, and damned if Harry Caray didn't show up.
-
This home plate ump's strike zone could be measured in John Kruks. Wide AND low to the ground.

that should bode well for Keuchel
-
Time Warner in my office. need some commentary.
-
Through 2, nothing exciting has happened.
Castro just got fucked by the HP ump on ball 4. Took a pitch that was definitely off the plate inside, tossed his bat, and Jerry Meals called it strike 2. Castro promptly chased a terrible curve down and in for strike 3.
End 2, 0-0.
-
Not score. Karter reached on an error. Castro thought he had ball four. Ended up swinging at ball four for a strike ball.
-
Keuchel looks like he's sharper than the last couple of times out.
-
Keuchel cruises through the 3rd, doesn't allow a base runner.
Mid 3, 0-0.
-
Marwin smacks a double in the alley in left center to start the bottom of the 3rd.
Will update as I can.

Altuve chops one to 3rd. Marisnik moves up to 2nd, Altuve out by a step at first.
His swings look terrible right now. He's pulling off like a madman.

2 outs, runner on first for Springer.
And it didn't make a damn bit of difference. Springer down flailing. End 3, 0-0.

Wandered off for a few minutes and back back to the bases loaded and 1 out for the As.
No idea what happened.
-
A walk and a couple of singles. Just listening and not paying close attention.

Full count pitch is chopped to Keuchel on a big ol' bounce. Dallas fields it and fires home for the out, and Castro fires to first, but not in time.
2 down, bases still juiced.

Slow roller to Marwin, who flips it to Altuve for the easy out. Crisis averted.
Mid 4, 1-0 Good Guys.
-
And Carter continues to piss me off. 2 outs, nobody on. Carter hits one deep in the hole at short. Simeon bounced his throw and the 1st baseman made a nice pick to end the inning, but Carter was just trotting along, in no hurry at all. The next time he hustles will be the first time.

-
Gattis hits it out to left! 3-1 Astros
-
Gattis got all of that one
-
listen. he has played great defense. errors happen.
He lazied this one in to an error. Lollygagged to his right and tried to backhand a not-very-hard-hit grounder off his glove that cost Dallas a run. I won't badmouth his overall defense, but that was shitty and he's been a lazy ass all day.
BOOM! Gattis strikes again.
-
Rasmus lines to the corner, ground rule double.
-
Wild pitch, Rasmus to third
-
Carter walks.

Zone has been huge all day, Reddick. Sit down and shut your mouth.
-
Keuchel probably done at 103 pitches, 6 hits, one unearned run.
-
Carter really legged out that walk.
I was curious whether he lollygagged down to first.
-
Just out of curiosity, the Astros haven't had a Cy Young winner, have they?
-

Clemens in 2004.
-
Altuve really Ensberged that at bat.
"I'd hit that."
"Oh, I'd totally hit that."
"I could probably hit that one too... Excuse me, Mr. Umpire? I've struck out? Oh."
-
Also, Scott in 1986.
-
Billy Butler makes Carter look like a track star on that groundout.
-
Seriously, Ashby? Why are you making excuses for Rasmus on that play? He flubbed it, pure and simple.
-

-
It bounced out of his glove.
-
Just short of the wall
-

-
runners on? still 3-1?
High fly ball to left field. Rasmus backed on it and got intimidated by the Crawford Box wall and jumped early. Clanked off his glove for 2 bases.
-
Runner on second, 3-1 Astros, one out. Sipp pitching, replaced Neshek.
-
Sipp strikes out Vogt. Two outs
-
If we get there in a save situation it would seem to be Qualls's game. I think he's 1-1 in opportunities against the A's this year after last year's debacle. But still...more runs please?

I would not be afraid to use Harris.
-
Canha strikes out. 3-1 Astros after 8 1/2.

Sipp is a hell of a pitcher against lefties and righties. I like him.
-
Bottom of the eighth, valbuena singles to right center.
-
Springer doubles on a broken bat blooper to right. Second and third no outs
-
Gattis just fouled off a cookie, and yelled fuck loud enough that I'm pretty sure I could've heard it with the TV muted.
-
Gattis walks bases loaded nobody out. Rasmus up.
-
Rasmus sac fly to center. All runners advance. 4-1 Houston.
-
Gattis just fouled off a cookie, and yelled fuck loud enough that I'm pretty sure I could've heard it with the TV muted.

I think we'll have a better feel for how good this team is after Detroit.

I honestly don't think it matters who they are playing. 10 of their 14 losses have been against some of the worst teams.

And 4 of their losses have been against some of the better teams.
9 of their 13 series have been against division rivals. I think their upcoming series against non-division teams will say a lot about this team.
