-
Hernandez with a nice first inning, striking out the side, but it took 20 minutes. Hopefully it's not another slow motion marathon tonight.
-
Altuve doesn't look lost, exactly, but he's not making the kind of contact that we're accustomed to.
-
Wow, thank you A's for sending your slow guy with 1 out. Castro made a very nice play on that short hop.
-
Good defense there to cut down a runner at the plate. Nice glove work by Castro to handle that throw and make the tag.
Now another play at the plate, after Hernandez is too slow to cover 1B on a routine grounder to 1B...under review...confirmed. Two outs the plate that inning.
No score.
-
Hernandez is the new candidate for slowest man in the league.
-
Strokin' Chris Carter!!!
2-run tater.
-
Castro with the third straight hit. Astros getting some good swings against Gray.
-
Altuve doesn't look lost, exactly, but he's not making the kind of contact that we're accustomed to.
He's looked lost tonight. Flailing.
-
Altuve gets himself out so many times. No plate discipline.
-
A's pick up a run on a couple of 2-out hits.
2-1 Astros.
-
Altuve gets himself out so many times. No plate discipline.
He's been going after first pitches a lot lately, so this time he sat back and watched. Of course, it was pretty hittable, and he never saw another good pitch.
-
then he chased
-
Is there s bigger douchebag in Organized Baseball than Brett Lawrie?
-
then he chased
Yup. He's starting to look a little anxious.
-
then he chased
Exactly. If they don't throw you a strike, don't swing.
-

There are a lot of people who would vote for Harper. But Harper has more talent.

Until he at least proves himself to be a better than average player, he'll always be a minor douchebag to me.

What's his WARD (Whines Above Replacement Douche)?
-
Altuve gets himself out so many times. No plate discipline.
He certainly could be more selective, maybe walk more. He has such great hand eye coordination and timing, he'll be an even better player when he learns some plate discipline.
-
End of the 1Q in Oakland...Rockets up 31-24.
-
you just can't say enough about this team's good defense.
-
I'm glad Altuve paid attention to you guys.
-
so, does gattis hit into a triple play? he better not.
-
Astros with the bases drunk and nobody out here in the 5th. Ump telling BoMel to shut the fuck up
-
wtf, that was horrible
-
Shitfuck. Awful base running by Altuve.
-
Looked to me like Gattis was waving him in.
-
That was a horrible decision by Altuve. If you hesitate at all, you've got to stop.
-
of course, gattis then gets a hit.
-
of course, gattis then gets a hit.
With bases loaded that's a double play.
-
Astros get a run, but that inning ended with a thud.
-
With bases loaded that's a double play.
No way
-
Halftime in Oakland...Warriors 58 Rockets 55.
-
No way
With the shift they had on? It would have been right at the SS.
-
Sipp in for the Astros here in the 7th.
3-2 Astros lead.
-
Heresy: Altuve is a better hitter than a baseball player.
-
Burns with a broken bat single, but is picked off before the next pitch. He was safe at 2nd, but a really awkward slide had him roll off the bag and Altuve kept the glove on him.
-
Altuve with an infield single. He needs to take 2B here.
-
Altuve steals second, but the umpires are inexplicably allowing Melvin a second challenge. Overturned, Altuve out.

I feel dirty for agreeing with something Ashby said.
-
I do not understand why the umpires allowed that.
-
I do not understand why the umpires allowed that.
I can only speculate that he "suggested" a review rather than "demanded" it? Still, I agree with Ashby...that's a distinction without a difference.
-
Qualls carves 'em up in the 8th. Still 3-2 Astros.
-
After 3 in Oakland. Rockets trai 84-79
On a side note, the Warriers' backup center is named "Festus".
-
I seemed out to have blacked out the two years Rodriguez pitched for the Astros.
-

a lot of players moved through Houston during that time. I thought they were talking about Wilfredo Rodriguez at first.
-
I seemed out to have blacked out the two years Rodriguez pitched for the Astros.
What about Abad?
-
That's the old Abad we know and love. Rasmus with a dinger of the 2-run flavor. Astros up 5-2 now.
-
Boys and girls, Rasmus was a helluva pickup.
-
What about Abad?
Hard to forget him. Rodriguez pitched a 100+ games and no memory.
-
Boys and girls, Rasmus was a helluva pickup.
Agree, having a great year.
-
I like Abad best when he's an A.
-
He is a great OFer
-
60 HRs in 40 games, not bad.
Abad gone
-
So glad Abad is pitching against the Astros, instead of pitching for them.
-
Castro is really having a nice season.
-
Castro!!!
6-2 now. Gregerson just went "fuck, there goes my save opportunitiy."
-
Watching Oakland's Twitter feed when Abad pitches is some delicious schadenfreude.
-
Mark Berman @MarkBermanFox26 1m1 minute ago
Dwight Howard has a bruised knee. Return is questionable.
-

So did austro, who has Gregerson as a closer on one of his fantasy teams.
-
Castro is really having a nice season.
He's had a nice game tonight with the glove tonight, even though he didn't throw anyone out.
-

I thought that the throw that Altuve couldn't glove was outstanding.

or horrible deja vu.

Dwight Howard has a bruised knee. Return is questionable.
He got rolled up on in the first quarter, came back in the game. Must be getting worse on him.
-
I thought that the throw that Altuve couldn't glove was outstanding.
It was. The catcher doesn't have much of a chance with Hernandez out there.
-
I thought that the throw that Altuve couldn't glove was outstanding.
They said on the radio that he's 3rd in MLB on throw outs. I wonder how much credit he gets for the pitchers' ERAs? The guy just seems smart.
-
Walk and a double put two A's on base with nobody out.
-
Single by Lawrie makes it 6-3 and the tying run to the plate with no outs.
-
Gregerson must have been reading how highly we thought of Abad.
-
Gregerson is just plain maddening to watch sometimes. He's got Billy Wagner disease when he comes in in non-save situations.
-
Gregerson gets the 6-4-3 twin killing. A's get a run to make it 6-4, but two outs now, bases empty.
-
Gregerson walks Sogard to bring the tying run to the plate. Again.
Gregerson out. Neshek in for what *is* a save opportunity.
-
Neshek coming in to finish the game. It is a save situation for him, right?
ETA: HH answered my question before I could post it.
-
Neshek coming in to finish the game. It is a save situation for him, right?
Absolutely. Thanks to Gregerson.
-
Do you guys get a Hannah and her horse commercial every half inning?
-
that was fast.
-
Whew.
-
1-2-3. . Nice work by Pat.
-
Do you guys get a Hannah and her horse commercial every half inning?
There's a horse?
-
Neshek nails it down for the win
On a side note, the Rockets game started a full hour *after* the Astros game is in the final minute.

sometimes that final minute in basketball feels like an hour.
-
sometimes that final minute in basketball feels like an hour.
Especially when it's a 2-point game with 19 seconds left.
-
that was fast.
"Fuck this shit." - Pat Neshek, probably.
-
26-14, best start in Astros history.
-
I can only speculate that he "suggested" a review rather than "demanded" it? Still, I agree with Ashby...that's a distinction without a difference.
A's announcers said that the crew chief called for the replay.
-

I like Hinch for this team. I think his demeanor is good for a young club. He also uses all of his guys. Not all managers do.

I think he's got the right attitude. He knows he's playing with house money right now. Enjoy it and do as much damage as you can. If this works for a whole season, awesome!
-
I seemed out to have blacked out the two years Rodriguez pitched for the Astros.
He was the one that I dubbed the Angel of Doom.
-
A's announcers said that the crew chief called for the replay.
Only after Melvin went out and argued for it. That's supposedly against the rules now.
-

Oh, must have been focused on the Rockets while that went on. I too now have no idea why that was allowed.
-

I think McBrag tweeted the manager can ask for it, but it's up to the ump to decide to get the replay or not in that situation.
-
He was the one that I dubbed the Angel of Doom.
I remember that label, but since that was an accurate description of a number the relievers, I guess I didn't link it to him.

But he had some particularly memorable implosions. The kid has good stuff, but he lacks consistent command. He's a classic AAAA player.
