Those are two of the worst back to back bats all year by Rasmus and Carter.

It was a ball, IMO. But, it was the same pitch that McHugh got a K on their lefty.

Didn't make Freese pay for his laziness/lack of awareness. Shame.

B8:

Giovatella doubles on a roller right inside the 3B bag
Cowgill, who entered the game for Navarro...sacrifices Giovatello to 3B, out 1-3
Iannetta...with the infield in...walks on a close pitch

Hinch out to the mound...and that's it for McHugh.  Thatcher in to face the lefty Calhoun

Calhoun singles to LF, Giovatella scores, Iannetta to 2B

Hinch back out...so Thatcher throws one pitch and gives up a hit and a run.  Neshek in

Trout flies out to deep CF...F8..runners stay put
Pujols with a hot smash that hits Iannetta.  So Pujols gets a single, and Iannetta is out 6U

But the Halos pick up another run and lead 2-0 going to the 9th...

Huston Street in for the Angels

Rasmus leads off with a single to RF
Carter singles to LF...Grossman in to pinch run for him
Castro flies out F8...runners have to hold
Marisnick singles to LF, Rasmus scores, Grossman to 2B
Tucker singles to RF, Grossman scores, Marisnick to 3B, and Tucker moves to 2B on a TE9
Villar walks to load the bases
Altuve grounds into 4-6 FC, Villar out at 2B, but Marisnick scores.  Tucker to 3B

And that's it for Street, who gets his second blown save in as many nights.  Ramos the lefty in for the Angels

Altuve moves to 2B on a ball in the dirt
Valbuena strikes out looking on a ball 5 feet outside in the dirt.  Thanks Cuntry Joe

But...the Astros send eight men to the plate, score thrice and take a 3-2 lead to the bottom of the 9th!

This is a very important win for a few reasons. For starters, it's on the road against a division rival. Secondly, it breaks a losing streak. Third, it is a come-from-behind win.  I don't think that the club could have come back in recent years. This team believes that it can win every game and is never out of it. That's exactly the attitude that you want.

Good comeback by the good guys. Tucker needs to drive that pitch the other way though (http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/123035748/preston-tuckers-first-career-hit-paves-way-for-astros-win).  Kind of got lucky that wasn't an inning ending double play.  His father is pretty laid back.  I think I would have been jumping out of my seat.

+1. I would add that they need to win every game possible that is started by the big two. It's encouraging that they are doing so well on the road. I wouldn't expect a young team to do that. The home record will only get better.

I guess you could argue that any ball put in play with runners on base has the potential to end in a double play, but yeah...Tucker squared it up and drove that ball.  Not sure what's not to like about it.

You're absolutely right. Was his strategy supposed to be to stand there and try to coax ball four to force in a run? Under his logic, that's the only conclusion, because any hit ball might, just might, turn into two outs.

He certainly got enough of it, squarely enough to get it through on 3  bounces.  Tucker has good power and a pitch on the outside like that is one I would think he could drive a long ways the other way.   I'm certainly not advocating he try and draw a walk.

I'm not sure what you were watching.  That wasn't a slow roller with eyes, the ball was stung pretty good.  More importantly, I still can't understand why you're upset with it.

Never said it was a slow roller.  Never said I was upset with it.  i said I felt it was a pitch he would have better off driving the other way.   I feel that he had a better chance of succeeding that way.  I'm glad that it worked out.  Happy they won.  Happy Tucker had a taste of success.  He is not a dead pull hitter.  Has had 3 homeruns this year the opposite way and one to straight away center (out of 10).  I think when he settles in he'll hit that pitch a long ways to left.

You guess?  He didn't hit a blooper.  He didn't get lucky.  He stood in there, got a pitch to handle, turned on it, kept his head on the ball and drove it.  All of that with a tough closer on the mound, in the 9th inning, down by a run, and the tying run in scoring position.  You're bitching that it wasn't the side of the field you would have liked?  Seriously?

This will be my last post on this.  Your ability to exaggerate what someone has said knows no bounds,  It was just an opinion that I felt he should be hitting a pitch like that the other way.  I was and am still happy with the result.  I am truly sorry I stated my opinion on this.

No kidding. He drove the ball past a diving infielder. He hit the ball hard, which is all he should try to do.  Unreal complaint.

That boy just got Pu-holed

Don't be sorry, just be prepared to defend it.  You posted something silly and got called on it.

Pots, in his interview, Tucker said he was expecting fastball and got a change and was out early on it.  Just happy to hit it hard.

Thanks.  That makes sense.  Didn't realize it was a change.  Not a lot of movement on it.
