-
T2:
Rasmus strikes out looking
Carter strikes out swinging
Castro grounds out 4-3
Angels up 1-0
-
Nice try by Marisnick. Hope he didn't tweak his back on the fall.
Yeah, he gave it a good effort, but couldn't get it.
-
Those are two of the worst back to back bats all year by Rasmus and Carter.
-
Nice try by Marisnick. Hope he didn't tweak his back on the fall.
We are sitting about even with the LF foul pole. The ball missed his glove by about 12 inches.
-
B2:
Freese grounds out 5-3
Aybar strikes out looking
Giavatello grounds out 5-3
We've played two...1-0 Angels
-
We are sitting about even with the LF foul pole. The ball missed his glove by about 12 inches.
Hope you catch Tucker's first home run.
-
Tucker...in his first Major League at bat...
Pops up to 1B on the first pitch he sees.
-
Bout time they call that balk.
-
Bout time they call that balk.
What'd he do?
-
T3:
Marisnick flies out F9
Tucker pops out F3
Villar reaches on a TE4 as Giovatello throws it over Pujols's head
Villar to 2B on a balk
Altuve now intentionally walked (the leadoff hitter...in the 3rd inning...when you have a lead)
Double steal...Villar to 3B, Altuve to 2B
Valbuena strikes out looking
Astros leave a pair in scoring position...1-0 Angels
-
Country Joe strikes again.
-
What'd he do?
He stepped towards home plate and threw to 1B.
-
What'd he do?
I didn't see it, but apparently it was pretty egregious. Blum was gobsmacked.
-
Hope you catch Tucker's first home run.
Even with the foul pole but in foul territory.
-
Country Joe strikes again.
It was a ball, IMO. But, it was the same pitch that McHugh got a K on their lefty.
Didn't make Freese pay for his laziness/lack of awareness. Shame.
-
I didn't see it, but apparently it was pretty egregious. Blum was gobsmacked.
Yeah, it wasn't really close. He stepped right at the plate.
-
B3:
Navarro pops out F6
Iannetta...hitting a cool .094...strikes out swinging
Calhoun strikes out swining
We're a third of the way...Angels still up 1-0
-
After the last two nights, it's nice to have a starter keep it close.
-
After the last two nights, it's nice to have a starter keep it close.
I know you didn't just jinx it.
-
Astros with a heavy lefthanded lineup against a tough lefty.
-
Santiago with another balk. Started into the stretch then stopped.
-
T4:

Castro grounds out 3-1

Still 1-0
-
B4:
Trout strikes out looking
Pujols singles to RF
Joyce hits into the ol' 8U double play as Pujols forgets how many outs there are.
1-0
-
I was thinking Marisnick was the dumbass, but it was Pujols. That's terrible.
-
T5:
Marisnick...after he got a break on a third strike check swing, and a bunch of foul balls...eventually strikes out looking
Tucker walks
Villar flies out F8
Altuve grounds into 6-4 FC, Tucker out at 2B
Astros leave another.
-
B5:
Freese singles to LF
Aybar flies out F9
Giovatella grounds into spectacular 4-6-3...what a play by Altuve to his backhand with a flip!

Slicker than a used car salesman standing on the lot in August in Houston.

T6:
Valbuena grounds out 4-3
Gattis grounds out 5-3
Rasmus walks
Carter pops out F4 to end the inning
-
B6:
Navarro strikes out swinging
Iannetta pops out F4
Calhoun strikes out looking
Through six...1-0 Angels
-
T7:
Castro strikes out swinging
That'll do it for Santiago. Salas, the righty in for the Halos
Marisnick strikes out swinging

-
Stop making shitty pitchers look good, for fuck's sake. This is goddamn pathetic.

Pujols grounds out 5-3 on a nice scoop by Carter
Joyce doubles down RF line, as Rasmus rolls the ball back in
Freese hit by pitch
Aybar grounds out 4-3
Still 1-0
-
Ashby has no idea why there's a limit of four players on the Astros' Mount Rushmore.
-
What the fuck happened before the Rangers series? Did someone flip a switch in the clubhouse from Hit to Can't Hit?
This is fucking awful.
-
T8:
Joe Smith on the bump for the Halos...
Villar leads off with a seeing eye single up the middle, for the Astros first hit since the first pitch of the game
Altuve flies out F9
Villar steals 2B
Valbuena grounds out 3U, Villar goes to 3B
Gattis strikes out on pitch 12 feet outside. In fact, he didn't see a strike the whole at bat
Astros leave ANOTHER base runner in scoring position.
Still 1-0
-
Thank god we brought Thatcher in to face the lefty. Fucking christ.
-
Well that didn't work out very well.
-
Ashby, you fucking polesmoke, don't call a one pitch at bat a "great at bat". That is fucking stupid.
-
B8:
Giovatella doubles on a roller right inside the 3B bag
Cowgill, who entered the game for Navarro...sacrifices Giovatello to 3B, out 1-3
Iannetta...with the infield in...walks on a close pitch
Hinch out to the mound...and that's it for McHugh. Thatcher in to face the lefty Calhoun
Calhoun singles to LF, Giovatella scores, Iannetta to 2B
Hinch back out...so Thatcher throws one pitch and gives up a hit and a run. Neshek in
Trout flies out to deep CF...F8..runners stay put
Pujols with a hot smash that hits Iannetta. So Pujols gets a single, and Iannetta is out 6U
But the Halos pick up another run and lead 2-0 going to the 9th...
-
Attaboy Marisnick...RBI single...tying run in scoring position.
-
And Tucker follows with an RBI single to tie the game!!!
-
Astros with the go-ahead run at 3B with one out.
-
Bases now loaded with one out, Altuve coming to the plate
-
Altuve with an RBI groundout to give the Astros a 3-2 lead!!
-
A young Angels fan in front of me started crying when the Astros tied it. Other Angels fans have started heading for the exits.
-
T9:
Huston Street in for the Angels
Rasmus leads off with a single to RF
Carter singles to LF...Grossman in to pinch run for him
Castro flies out F8...runners have to hold
Marisnick singles to LF, Rasmus scores, Grossman to 2B
Tucker singles to RF, Grossman scores, Marisnick to 3B, and Tucker moves to 2B on a TE9
Villar walks to load the bases
Altuve grounds into 4-6 FC, Villar out at 2B, but Marisnick scores. Tucker to 3B
And that's it for Street, who gets his second blown save in as many nights. Ramos the lefty in for the Angels
Altuve moves to 2B on a ball in the dirt
Valbuena strikes out looking on a ball 5 feet outside in the dirt. Thanks Cuntry Joe
But...the Astros send eight men to the plate, score thrice and take a 3-2 lead to the bottom of the 9th!
-
Is this terrible Joe West behind the plate?
Strike 3 on Valbuena was pretty wide.
-
Looking at the replay of Altuve's ground ball...is it just me or did it look like Giovatella could have tagged Villar instead of flipping to 2B?
-
B9:
Gregerson in to try to close it out
Joyce strikes out swinging
Freese flies out F8...two away
Aybar grounds out 3U
Astros with a come from behind win 3-2 to break the skid!!!
-
Waldo gets us a win!!!
Nice job
-
Giovatella grounds into spectacular 4-6-3...what a play by Altuve to his backhand with a flip!
Just fucking outstanding.
Also congrats to Preston Tucker for the terrific timing of his 1st major league hit.
-
This is a very important win for a few reasons. For starters, it's on the road against a division rival. Secondly, it breaks a losing streak. Third, it is a come-from-behind win. I don't think that the club could have come back in recent years. This team believes that it can win every game and is never out of it. That's exactly the attitude that you want.
-
Ashby has no idea why there's a limit of four players on the Astros' Mount Rushmore.
He also doesn't understand why every president isn't on the actual Mount Rushmore.

Good comeback by the good guys. Tucker needs to drive that pitch the other way though (http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/123035748/preston-tuckers-first-career-hit-paves-way-for-astros-win). Kind of got lucky that wasn't an inning ending double play. His father is pretty laid back. I think I would have been jumping out of my seat.

Your going to be negative about an Astros player getting a hit with a runner in scoring position??

+1. I would add that they need to win every game possible that is started by the big two. It's encouraging that they are doing so well on the road. I wouldn't expect a young team to do that. The home record will only get better.

Mr. Happy breaks down for you why this was an important win (http://www.orangewhoopass.com/2015/05/08/never-say-die/).

Not really. I'm glad they won. It is not wrong to still try to learn even though it didn't end up being a mistake. Must they lose to learn?

Someone may want to mark this date, but I agree with Mr. Happy's assessment.

Glad to know that, BG!!!

What the heck are you talking about? He drove the ball past the 1B. Double play?
-

I guess you could argue that any ball put in play with runners on base has the potential to end in a double play, but yeah...Tucker squared it up and drove that ball. Not sure what's not to like about it.

exactly.

You're absolutely right. Was his strategy supposed to be to stand there and try to coax ball four to force in a run? Under his logic, that's the only conclusion, because any hit ball might, just might, turn into two outs.
-
It would have been even more cooler if he had homered.
-
He certainly got enough of it, squarely enough to get it through on 3 bounces. Tucker has good power and a pitch on the outside like that is one I would think he could drive a long ways the other way. I'm certainly not advocating he try and draw a walk.

I'm not sure what you were watching. That wasn't a slow roller with eyes, the ball was stung pretty good. More importantly, I still can't understand why you're upset with it.

Never said it was a slow roller. Never said I was upset with it. i said I felt it was a pitch he would have better off driving the other way. I feel that he had a better chance of succeeding that way. I'm glad that it worked out. Happy they won. Happy Tucker had a taste of success. He is not a dead pull hitter. Has had 3 homeruns this year the opposite way and one to straight away center (out of 10). I think when he settles in he'll hit that pitch a long ways to left.

Man, that's just searching for something to complain about. But ok.

No kidding. He drove the ball past a diving infielder. He hit the ball hard, which is all he should try to do. Unreal complaint.

The result was great and I guess that is all we should care about. Good job Tucker. Rah Rah Rah

You guess? He didn't hit a blooper. He didn't get lucky. He stood in there, got a pitch to handle, turned on it, kept his head on the ball and drove it. All of that with a tough closer on the mound, in the 9th inning, down by a run, and the tying run in scoring position. You're bitching that it wasn't the side of the field you would have liked? Seriously?

This will be my last post on this. Your ability to exaggerate what someone has said knows no bounds, It was just an opinion that I felt he should be hitting a pitch like that the other way. I was and am still happy with the result. I am truly sorry I stated my opinion on this.

Don't be sorry, just be prepared to defend it. You posted something silly and got called on it.
-
Pots, in his interview, Tucker said he was expecting fastball and got a change and was out early on it. Just happy to hit it hard.

Thanks. That makes sense. Didn't realize it was a change. Not a lot of movement on it.
