If your not gonna hit Marisnick 9 then why not 2? 7 seems a strange play to put him in an AL game.

The problem is that Grossman also is in the lineup, leading to two nines in the same lineup. Valbuena isn't an ideal two, but that's probably best. I'd go Marwin in the two.
-
Dosen't make a lot of sense to have Marwin and Grossman hitting behind Marisnick. If Hinch wants to get him more at bats, move him to either the leadoff or second position.
-
Late arriving crowd? I would have thought there would be an attendance bump after that road trip.
-
Unlucky start so far.
-
Why do you pitch them away if you've got a big shift on? Or is Feldman just missing?

Ashby was just asking about this. My thought is, haven't these spray charts (or whatever they're called) been researched while the batters have been pitched to normally? Why would you change how you pitch to them after the fact? You might just pitch to their happy zones if you do that. Thoughts?
-
Feldman hasn't been great, but Castro sure isn't helping him.
-
And now Valbuena with the brain cramp. Aaarrrggghhh.
-
Double play, just what the Doctor ordered.
-
Jed out for 8 weeks.
-
Castro - Single up the middle
Marisnick - Bunt hit, Castro to 2nd
Gonzalez - GDP, Castro to 3rd
Grossman - K looking
End of the 2nd. Mariners 2-1.

They put the shift on a dead-pull hitter, then pitch him away, trying to get the hotter to "roll over" on the pitch (getting the ground ball to the pull-side)
-
Jackson - Infield single
Cano - (Jackson caught stealing) 6-3 ground out
Cruz - Fly out to CF
Middle of the 3rd. Mariners 2-1.
-
Altuve - Double to LF corner
Valbuena - K swinging
Springer - Grounds out to 2nd, Altuve to 3rd
Gattis - K swinging
End of the 3rd. Mariners 2-1.
-
Feldman needs a pitch clock.
-
Seagar - Grounds out to Pitcher
Morrison - Grounds out to 2nd
Miller - BB
Ackley - Single to LF
Zunino - K swinging
Middle of the 4th. Mariners 2-1.
-
Zunino still can't recognize a curve. That was a problem in college. I imagine the Ms expected a lot more from both him and Ackley.
-
Carter - K swinging
Castro - K swinging
Marisnick - Line drive snagged by Cano
End of the 4th. Mariners 2-1.
-
I'm kind of busy in the early evening, putting the kids to bed and all. Can someone just post "SHUT THE FUCK UP, ASHBY" on my behalf for the first few innings of each game?
-
Seriously, how the heck do you question how Lou Gehrig got the nickname "Iron Horse"??
-
Maybe Waldo can set up a bot for you.
-
I've often thought that should be the second post after the lineups every night. A gigantic annoyance.
-
I wonder if he has any inkling that he annoys so many people. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if most viewers fucking loved him.
-

I agree with this. Get it out of the way early. Can we start a petition to get blummer on full time and run fucking Ashby out of town?
-
Smith - K swinging
Jackson - Grounds out 6-3
Cano - Single to RCF
Cruz - Ground outto the pitcher
Middle of the 5th. Mariners 2-1.
-
Gonzalez - Grounds out to 3rd
Grossman - Grounds out to 3rd
Altuve - Grounds out to SS
End of the 5th. Mariners 2-1.

I'd sign it. They could at least use Sparks if Blum just has to surf half time.
-
Texans on the clock.
-
Seager - Carter knocks down a hard liner and gets it to Feldman covering
Morrison - Flies out to LF
Miller - Flies out to RF
Middle of the 6th.Mariners 2-1.
-
Feldman has certainly pulled it together after a rocky beginning.
-
Texans select Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
-
Gattis bounces one to SS, Valbuena scores from 3rd. Tied 2-2. 1 out. Springer on 2nd.
-
Gruden not liking him is probably a good sign.
-
Valbuena - BB
Springer - Singles to RF, bad throw to 3rd from RF, Valbuena on 3rd, Springer to 2nd
Gattis - Hits a bouncer to SS, Out at 1st, Valbuena scores, Springer holds at 2nd
Carter - K looking
Castro - Flies out to CF
End of the 6th. Tied 2-2.
-
Carter needs to do something there.
-
Just looked to see how bad Carter's performance has been, and see that Gattis has been as bad. My eyes are surprised as Gattis' ABs seem a lot better. I must be predisposed to Carter fatigue.
-
Ackley - Pops out to SS
Zunino - Flies out to CF
Smith - Grounds put to 1st
Middle of the 7th. Tied 2-2.
-

I guess I'm a little soft on the new guy.
-
Marisnick - Grounds out to SS, Miller makes a tight play to get him
Gonzalez - Hard ground out to 3rd
Grossman - K looking
End of the 7th. Tied 2-2.
-
Gruden not liking him is probably a good sign.
I don't know if the kid is any good or not, but Gruden is a putz. I actually find him harder to listen to than Ashby.
-
Qualls in to pitch.
-
Sipp in to pitch the last out of the 8th.
-
Jackson - Single into RF
Cano - (Jackson steals 2nd) Grounds out to P, Jackson holds at 2nd
Cruz - K on attempted check swing
Seager - (Sipp in to pitch, Jackson steals 3rd) Grounds out to 2nd
Middle of the 8th. Tied 2-2.
-
Top of the order needs to kick these guys in the nuts.
-
Survived a tough inning. Top of the order coming up.
Seeing the Bagwell commercial makes me wonder why he doesn't visit the park more. He used to regularly spend some time in the booth a few years back.
-
Altuve - Grounds out to 3rd
Valbuena - Grounds out to 1st
Springer - Grounds out to 2nd
End of the 8th. Tied 2-2.

Maybe he could replace Ashby? We'll just platoon bags and blummer
-
What happened to the left coast offense?
-
Castro has been awful tonight.
-
Castro has been awful tonight.
He had a nice throw out of Jackson earlier.
-
Castro has been awful tonight.
Yes he has. The rest of the teams seems kind of tired also.
Sipp with a a big K.
-
Neshek coming in after Sipp gets a nice K for out 2.
-
I generally tolerate a lot of shit commercials, but that Taco Bell one kind of disturbs me. It's worse than Ashby.
-
Morrison - Single to RF
Miller - Sac bunt, Morrison to 2nd
Ackley - (Passed ball, Morrison to 3rd) K swinging
Zunino - (Neshek in to pitch) Fly out to 2nd
Middle of the 9th. Tied 2-2.
-
Is Ashby the new bar for awful?

Is Ashby the new bar for awful?
He's kind of the long-standing bar for awful. It's just that this year's team, at least so far, has produced so many fewer awful moments that Ashby stands out more than he used to. Although Castro is trying to help him out tonight.
-
Gattis - Ground out to 3rd
Carter - K swinging
Castro - Grounds out to 2nd after getting a full count
End of the 9th. Tied 2-2.
-
Alright I need to go. Go Astros!
-
Hunch brings in Gregerson to pitch the 10th.
-
Nice D Carter!
-
I don't care how much potential he shows, Chris Carter is fucking mind numbingly terrible at the plate 80+ percent of the time.
-
Nice D, but Baggy would have let it drop to get the DP.
-
Single to leadoff for the Ms.
Carter with a fine defensive catch on the bunt attempt
Cano with a DP groundout. Bottom of 10th. Time for a run.
-
Nice D, but Baggy would have let it drop to get the DP.
And watched it spin out of bounds...
-
Altuve is good.
-
Altuve is good.
+1
-
Damn, Ashby is still talking about the wild pitch that wasn't.
I hope the fans start coming out. These guys deserve it.
-
Altuve is magical.
-
He must just infuriate other teams.
-
He must just infuriate other teams.
How do you pitch him? It might be easier to just throw him fastballs down the middle. At least he would never walk.
-
He must just infuriate other teams.
Yeah, never thought of it that way, but hopefully he'll be pissing off teams and opposing fans for a long time to come.
-
Man, what another great win. I just opened a bottle of Pinot noir and lit a Tatujuaje to celebrate.
-

Tonight is the first night I figured that a change must have crossed Luhnow's mind, but that'd be pretty bold for a hot team.
-

I'm pretty sure McClendon didn't say "hit the bat with this next pitch."
-
Astros are creeping into best record in all of baseball territory. wow. Tied with KC for best in AL. Only the Cardinals have better in MLB.
-
Radio crew mentioned yesterday, Bud Black was yelling across the diamond before the game yesterday asking if Hinch was going to sit Altuve
-

According to Ashby, McClendon should have just told him to throw a wild pitch so they could then intentionally walk him to load the bases with 1 out.
-

He might be a little pissant, but he's OUR little pissant...
-

I'm sure ashby's delivery killed it, but just reading it that's actually pretty funny.

It never once occurred to Ashby that if that was the case, maybe they should walk Altuve anyway.

Interesting. So Altuve could have went and stopped at second for the winning hit to count as a double? Odd

There's a Waldo recap. http://www.orangewhoopass.com/

Nicely done Waldo. Good recaps so far this year.

Interesting. So Altuve could have went and stopped at second for the winning hit to count as a double? Odd
Why is that odd? On walk off hits, the batter is entitled credit for as many bases as he would otherwise get, so long as he runs them out. The caveat being he can only get credit for as many bases as the winning run advances. So for example, last night Marwin was in 2B, so Altuve could have been credited with a double had he ran all the way to 2B. However, if Marwin had been on 3B, he could only have been credited with a single. The exception is a home run. On a walk off HR, the batter gets credit for the HR and any runs it drives in count, again provided he touches all the bases. If he doesn't touch them all, he only gets credit for as many bases as the winning run advancesa. An infamous example of this is Robin Ventura's would be walk off grand slam, that turned into a single when his teammates mobbed him in between 1b and 2b and didn't let him finish his trot. Instead of a HR and four RBIs, he was awarded a single and one RBI.

They said "he had to stop on second" It looked like he ran through second, but you really can't tell. He wisely turned around to brace for the oncoming celebration. Perhaps he just missed the bag. video (http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/121634840/houston-astros-jose-altuve-sets-tone-for-streaking-club)
Actually upon further review, he likely came with in an Altuve short of second.

I was trying to figure this out last night. It looked like he got close to second and looked down at the bag a couple of times but was more preoccupied with his teammates storming out to molest him than he was getting to the bag. I'm sure his agent will have a friendly talk with him.
