In case anyone isn't reading the GZ...Cardinal outfielder Oscar Taveras killed in a car accident in the Dominican Republic.  He was 22.

Devastating news.

Out of curiosity, why is this any more devastating than the hundreds of other people who died on that day?  I understand why there is more interest among baseball fans, but how does the presence or absence of baseball talent affect the degree of "devastation" associated with the death?

So I looked up the BAC limit in the DR.  Apparently it's zero, but there is a limit of 0.05 for "professionals"....this accroding to Wiki and supported by other pages I've found.  I can only imagine that the 5x BAC is referencing the 0.05...so we're talking 0.25 - that's pretty damn drunk.
