Go junior circuit!

Didn't really expect that neither Tillman nor Shields would go more than 5 innings.

They both seem like pretty average pitchers to me, especially Tillman.  With them as the top arm on their respective teams, NL has a good shot this year, IMO.

Ripken having to explain the pickoff defense to Darling. Pretty amusing.

You think you've got it bad, the feed I'm using is the ESPN broadcast with Rick Sutcliffe yapping away at full volume.

Yeah, I found Sutcliffe to be super annoying on the ESPN broadcasts he did this year.

Sutcliffe's sing songy stupid cadence is annoying enough, and then you get past that to the substance of what he's actually spewing.  He's awful.

It's easier to take when you realize that he's probably drunk.

I hate the Cardinals and anyone currently or previously associated with them including but not by any means limited to Joe Buck.

Only the Cardinals can replace someone I hate with someone I hate even more.  Fuck Yadier.  Fuck Pierznyski.

One could hate Joe Buck for a myriad of other legitimate reasons.

Neither of the WS teams will have won 90 games this year.

The hero tonight was a multiple DFA castoff. I love the Royals, but I never bet against Bruce Bochy in October.

You mean "The Giants win the pennant"? I thought that felt extremely contrived, myself.

Man, the Cardinals really let me and the whole Redbird Nation down. I'm kind of torn between the Royals and the Giants. On one hand, the Giants are NL and in the past I usually rooted for the NL team, on the other hand, I really like the way the Royals made it to the World Series, and that they are a small market underdog making their first appearance in 30 years. Win or lose, Bruce Bochy, at this point, I think has proven himself to be one of the great managers of the game. The three assholes who got enshrined last summer got nothing on Bochy.

Bochy vs Yost seems like a pretty significant mismatch. I'm expecting at least a couple of head-scratchers when Yost is confronted with the NL rules.

Ned Yost is a pretty pedestrian manager. However, he has managed to push the right buttons to get his club there. Bochy is clearly head-and-shoulders better than Yost, but the Royals are looking like a team of destiny. However, it will be interesting to see how the Royals react to losing a game since they haven't lost in the playoffs yet.

Yost managed Milwaukee, you know.

Not particularly effectively, as I recall. In 2007 they had an 8 1/2 game lead in mid-June that they squandered and missed the playoffs. They got a wild-card spot in 2008, but only after they fired Yost and replaced him with Sveum for the last 12 games of the year. But I agree with Mr. Happy that KC sure seems like a team of destiny this year.

The Brewers? That life-long American League team? How would that help him with NL baseball?

By the way, I *really* like Cain. What a valuable and versatile player.

ETA: That would be Lorenzo Cain. Although Matt Cain is decent, too.

Meh, I loved it.  Sounded natural and a theowback to Bobby Thompson.

I also love Joe Buck, which is probably not a popular opinion here.

That's pretty typical coming from you. Jack Buck was a prince. Joe Buck is a spoiled classless prick who's living on his dad's talent and goodwill. The Thompson copy call was pretty predictable and lame.
