Sources: #Astros have talked to at least five managerial candidates by phone: Ebel, Hinch, Lovullo, D. Martinez, Wakamatsu.
Ebel told MLB.com that he hasn't spoken to the Astros about the vacancy at this point, however. "At this point" can mean different things, though, so take it for what it's worth. Others were linking Wakamatsu yesterday and Martinez has said that he had a good experience two years ago interviewing for the same role and would be very interested. Lawless is also in the mix, of course.

Because I've seen that asshole once in an Astros uniform. I'd rather not see it twice.
And it has nothing to do with being an under-achiever while in Houston. It's because he was an asshole. He may fart rainbows and shit lollipops these days and have the keenest managerial mind since Earl Weaver but I don't care. Once an asshole, always an asshole. I think he even pissed in my beer once. Maybe. I was drunk and drinking Coors at the time so it was hard to tell.

I read an interview recently with Nevin and he knows he was an asshole. Maybe that is a good thing. People around him say good things about him now.
