Bogar the interim manager. This job may have fallen in Bogar's lap.

" long-time Texas Rangers skipper Ron Washington’s sudden departure from the club was due to impending legal issues stemming from an alleged sexual assault of an Asian reporter. "

Not Cabrera'd, but in case you're wondering, SI.com is reporting it too (http://fansided.com/2014/09/10/ron-washington-left-rangers-due-alleged-sexual-assault-legal-matter/). Not just some rando with a Wordpress blog.

Was it an Asian woman reporter, or an Asian man reporter? Glad it wasn't a Khazakstanian reporter, 'cause that would have been hell to type.

It is an odd way to report an alleged crime. The sentence should have ended after "sexual assault."

I suppose that was intended to indicate that the reporter was a visiting one, not a local one?

No telling. There are Asian reporters everywhere these days.

My point. "Asian" was being used to describe geography not ethnicity. Just a thought.

Could be, but that would be like saying sexual offense of a European reporter.

I guess the Rangers have more Asian reporters in the clubhouse because of Darvish. That could elevate the relevance of the adjective, because you're likely referring to a foreign national. Which brings in some more thorny legal issues.

More like saying "a British" or "a German" reporter, if it was meant to reference where the reporter was from. At any rate, I agree it was an odd phrasing, but don't think it was necessarily meant to imply that sexual assault of one ethnicity is somehow different than that of another.

Exactly. I don't think it was meant to imply that sexual assault of someone of Asian descent is somehow better or worse than sexual assault of one who is not.

That may be right.

Or what if the reporter was from Istanbul? Heads would explode.

Or at least be cut off.

In that article, SI referenced that rando, Jamie Kelly.
"Adam J. Morris from SB Nation writes:
Kelly is a credible source, and this is consistent with the type of things that have been floating around out there the past few days. "

Easy enough.
"From which side of the Bosphorus do you hail, Mustafa?"

Seeing as the Rangers have both a prominent Japanese player (Darvish) and a prominent S. Korean player (Choo) it was probably someone from those two countries.

Twitterverse had this from Washington's presser this afternoon:
“I was not true to my wife after 42 years. I broke her trust. I’m here today to own that mistake and to apologize to her.”

Honey, I vowed to sexually assault only you. Please forgive me.
