Grossman walk, Altuve bloop single, and Carter groundout (DP call overturned) make it 1-0 Astros so far.

Castro pop-out (on a hanger; he slammed his bat in disgust for missing it) and Singleton 5-3 end the inning.

After a 1-2-3 1st inning, Dallas makes two nice plays to help himself, getting Beltre on a 3-1 with a nifty running grab as he covered 1st, and fielding a sharp comebacker by Arencibia. Then Rosales, who is as annoying as he is goofy-looking, draws a 3-2 walk before Martin Ks swinging on 3 pitches.

By the way, anyone wants to take PBP, please do, because I'm supposed to be cleaning the house while watching the game.

Another fucking inane question of the day from Howard Chen. Basically all of his questions are "what has it been like..." designed to elicit variations on the response "it's been great!". Like his entire viewing audience consists of 2nd-graders.

And now goddam Ashby is being a grumpy bitchy old man who won't quit harping on the same point over and over. I hate bitching about people bitching, but with Ashby I can't help it.

Huh, cool: Richard Linklater is going to be in the booth next inning, to talk about Boyhood. haven't seen it yet but I know there's a scene filmed at MMPUS, featuring a Jason Lane dinger.

Dominguez has a leadoff single but makes the 3rd out trying to score from first on a Marwin oppo double. The Ranger catcher clearly blocked the plate before he had the ball, but after review, they still called him out. I wish they'd provide an explanation. Otherwise Matty should be allowed to run him over.

Jesus Christ. A 10 minute review and they still fucked up the call.

This Rangers pitcher's arsenal seems to be slow, slower and slowest.  I'm always entertained watching these guys navigate a game.

Hopefully the Astros can square him up the second time through.  So far he's been frustrating them with his slop.

If that's not a violation of the rule, then they might as well not have the fucking rule.

After that call the other night (I forget which game it was, but they called a runner who was thrown out by 10 feet safe because the catcher was standing on the plate while the throw was coming in), I'm pretty pissed about not getting the call there. Although I suspect the inanity of that call resulted in some instructions about interpretation.

I think that Dominguez was called out on general principle - for being the slowest base runner in MLB history.

Dominguez must be Polish. He's showing Kluszewski - Luzinski type speed.

Martin could have helped by making a better throw.

This guy keeps lobbing in a 90 mph fastball that does absolutely nothing and they haven't gotten decent contact off him all game.

Marwin? On the play at home? Seemed like he was throwing from a tough angle, directly behind the runner.

With a cutter like he threw, he should be on the mound.

Tough angle, but he threw it on the wrong side. Into the runner.

How do they keep missing the flat 90 mph fastball down the middle?  This is ridiculous.

I thought umpires could award home plate if the runner clearly would have scored on a ground-rule double now.

If so... how the hell did that not apply on Altuve's 2b?

They have been able to for as long as I can remember. But they never, ever give the runner more than two bases on that. Never.

It is surprising that so many of the Astros hit this poorly. The pitcher made two massive mistakes, leaving fastballs in the heart of the plate to Castro, and two whiffs. Altuve is the only player in this lineup who consistently makes a pitcher pay for his mistakes. Carter sometimes, but that is about it.

It's been a season of swinging through league-average fastballs down the middle for Castro.

Fucking hell. The slightest bit of hustle from Corporan on Marisnick's double could have at least gotten them to within 2 runs. Worth taking the (slight) chance of being thrown out when it's still just the 6th inning, especially with your #9 hitter up.

Veras does what he can to make that less relevant.

The only thing worse than a game where the Astros have been fucking up, blown an early lead and are losing by several runs, is when they do all that and it takes forever. Already at the 3-hour mark and still 2 1/2 innings to go.

I had to watch the Rangers broadcast.

I gave up as soon as they tied it up.

Even those fucksticks agreed that the reviewed call at home was nonsensical. Frankly, that is making me start to doubt my sanity.

this was a poor game. Keuchel losing it after 3. Corporan sucked behind the plate. Umpiring was awful. Lack of fundementals on defense by home team.
Astros getting beat by a pitcher that has struggled all year. Had to watch that cocksuck Beltre take a HR trot. And I'm probably missing a couple of things.

And it didn't fully dawn on me until after I was done that only 40% of local viewers will be able to get the CSN reference. Oh well.
