Ha, good one! Next you'll be telling us Crain, Weiland, and Carlos Hernandez are also coming back from their injuries...

I sure fucking hope so.  I still have about 30 of his rookie cards and need that investment to pay off.

The one RR Express game I ever went to, Jason Lane hit two homeruns and Hernandez struck out 16.  THE FUTURE WAS BRIGHT.

I think I might have been at that game also, but I never liked Lane.

I liked Lane just fine, but he had this giant loop in his swing that was positively frustrating to watch.

I am not a fan of the DH, but it still kills me that Carlos had a career-ending injury running the bases. So sad.

Running the bases or sliding head first ended his career?

Stat line from 2001 pre-injury, at age 21:

AAA - 12-3, 3.69 ERA, 139 IP, 69 BB, 167 K
MLB - 1-0, 1.02 ERA, 17.2 IP, 5 BB, 12 K

I can't help but think he would have started instead of Mlicki in the playoffs, though it likely wouldn't have mattered.

It may have been diving back.  I don't know why I remember there being discussions about sliding head first.  There is a high likelihood I am wrong.

Diving back is what I remember. Looked harmless enough.

It was diving back. He was too close to the bag, jammed his arm, and that was all she wrote.

Right.  I did not mean "running" (literally) ... just in general on the base paths where he would never have been with the DH.

I remember him being a pretty good hitter, he could DH for this current squad.

I'm pleased to say, that is one of the few words/sayings I do know.  Most of the others I can't spell but would probably get me beat up in Poland if I said them to certain people.

Seriously, is there some neurological condition you have that prevents you from sharing helpful or informative details? Does it not occur to you that to add a simple "4 4 1 1 1 5" or the equivalent would a) be a much more complete contribution to the board, and b) take only an extra 20 seconds of your time?

At least he wasn't complaining.  Baby steps.

Any phrase (or for that matter any glass) with "piwo" in it is a good start.

I'm polish, piwo is one of those words we all know.  You learn it at a young age.  You know, when your dad tells you to go get him a piwo and you not only get the pivwo but poor it into the mug that was in the freezer with no foam.  Yes, I was trained at a young age.
