When I look over my shoulder
What do you think I see?
Some other cat looking over
His shoulder at me (http://www.spikesnstars.com/2014/04/07/walking-on-my-grave-2/)

Who are the Astros playing again? I feel you.

Nice work as always, DS (or whoever you are these days-don't know or understand why you reset your post counter, but I gave up trying to understand you a long time ago). I agree with you about dads. I used to be very angry with mine for driving me so hard. However, in retrospect, I came to grips with the reality that he was just doing his best and that he always did the right thing: I often needed a boot up my ass in order to perform well. I was a bit lazy and thought that I could scrape by on pure talent, which is utter bullshit since the hard working routinely outperform the talented. I made peace with all of that and now realize that my dad is the finest man who I have ever known. I "forgave" him, and in so doing, I forgave myself for holding onto such a warped view of the past for so long. I like it much better this way. When the dark cloud of anger and hatred lifted, I could see clearly again and liked what I saw very much. Of course, I had to get clean in order for that all to happen, which was yet another benefit of that effort.

Will ESPN2 air Wednesday night's game (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/schedule/_/name/hou/houston-astros) in Houston? in Austin?
There have been 2 Rangers games on ESPN so far this year, and both times Austin TWC has shown the Rangers games on 2 stations. With ESPN neutral broadcasters and Fox Sports Southwest Rangers broadcasters.

I don't know for sure, but usually, a national broadcast overrides the blackout. So, I would expect it to be shown on ESPN in all blacked-out areas.

Typically here (Tampa), if the Rays game is on ESPN and the RSN, it is blacked out on ESPN and shown only on the RSN.

I thought that last year on opening day, the Astros game was shown on ESPN even though the Rangers broadcast was available. Might have misremembered or might be confusing it with the NBA, where non-CSNH subscribers in Houston get Rockets games on ESPN and TNT.

Wouldn't opening day have been a sell-out, thus not blacked out?

That would be logical, but this is MLB. I don't think sell outs, or attendance concerns, factor at all into MLB's policy. Broadcasts are blacked out within the five state area, regardless of attendance, presumably to increase value of the TV deals. That is my understanding at least.

I think you're right.

No hitter watch:
Astros facing Buehrle tonight and Darvish later on this week.

Last year, opening day was Sunday night baseball on ESPN, right? That means no local feed at all, I thought. Kind of like when Fox carries a saturday game and they would pair JD with whoever was the PBP guy from the other team.

I think you're right. I don't remember the Rangers having a broadcast in Austin on Opening Day last year due to ESPN.
