Yup, not a typo!
Anyway... looks like San Antonio will be the venue (semi-central'ish location for the families) in mid-August... We'll be there next month for the NCAA tourney rounds 2-3 and are going to scout out some locations.
If anyone has recommendations or knows someone who might, I'm all ears...

Congratulations, but now that you've gotten the call up why are you posting this in the minor league forum?

Not my normal area of expertise but this was easy to find on-line. May provide some ideas. http://www.saweddings.com/Venues

There's the usual country clubs, etc... I've been to a wedding at Los Encinos (http://www.losencinos.com/#) which is a hill country estate just west of the 1-10 and 1604 over by Leon Springs which was very nice. It's quiet and pretty. Obviously budget, number of guests, and any specific catering desires are the main variables you need to work through before you can narrow it down. There are multiple mariachi bands available, so don't be too concerned about that.

I was also going to recommend the hill country area. When I go to weddings in SA, the venue is pretty much always a church and a big hall for a party. Not much is very formal with my family. Hard to afford formal with 500+ people in attendance.

Congrats!

Actually, this a profound statement about the Astro's organization. No one even read the Bus Ride 5 years ago, now it's the place for off-topic posting.

late on the congratulations but here they are

Congratulations OSF!

Faithville is very remote and unexpectedly very nice considering the location. It is next to Anhalt dancehall in Spring Branch. I haven't been to an actual wedding there, but I have been to an open house and was impressed with the facilities.

The Driftwood winery (http://www.driftwoodvineyards.com/weddings.html) has a beautiful location atop a hillside overlooking vineyards, and a nice event facility including a large outdoor patio. Don't know how this fits for you budgetwise, but their produce (http://www.driftwoodvineyards.com/our_wines.html) is quaffable in the extreme, including the Orange Muscat (semi-sweet, not the 6% residual sugar one) which is a surprising delight.
Many congrats!

Congratulations OSF, my cousin got married at The Terrace Club in Dripping Springs. It's a very nice venue, but I'm not sure if you consider it in the surrounding area or not.
