He isn't dead yet. He's close, though.

However, Tom Laughlin is dead today.

Conflicting reports. God, I love that guy. One of my all time favorite singers. Friday, I heard Dale Watson, who is close to Ray, say Ray wasn't doing well at all.

I read one report on Twitter that he was dead.

His son posted bad information and it was picked up everywhere. As of about an hour ago he was still alive, resting peacefully.

There appears to be some distance involved. Ray's wife is with him and they will tell everyone via Facebook when he passes.

Sadly (for Laughlin's legacy, anyway), the only thing I remember about Billy Jack now is Paul Simon's dead-on parody of the character in old SNL skits.

His name was Billy Paul. Not the Billy Paul that recorded "Me and Mrs. Jones." A lot of people get them confused.

Now I'm seeing tweets from CBS News and Greta Van Susteren that Ray Price has now died.

He died about 4:43 today.
